The Republic of Tyva is notable even for its geographical position: having arrived at the recreation center in Tuva, you will find yourself practically in the very center of the Asian continent. The administrative border separates it from the Russian regions, including the Republic of Altai, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Republic of Khakassia, the Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia, and the state border from Mongolia, located south of Tyva. The capital of the republic is the city of Kyzyl. If you are going to visit this peculiar republic, you need to be prepared not only for a long road and moving a long distance, but also for moving in time, since Tyva is 4 hours ahead of the Russian capital.

The republic, like all recreation centers in Tyva, is extremely interesting for its geographical position, since it is located right at the junction of taiga, steppes and even deserts, spreading in a wide strip across the mountains and intermountain plains. For lovers of mountain recreation, for climbers, the republic is attractive for the abundance of mountain ranges, occupying 80% of its territory. 45 peaks in the Tuvan mountains have a height of more than 3 thousand meters, and the highest point in all of Eastern Siberia is the Tuvan mountain Mongun-Taiga, whose peak is at an altitude of 3976 meters. Widely known are such Tuvan mountain ranges as the Western Sayan, Shapshalsky, Tsagan-Shibetui and others. But these lands are interesting not only for mountains. 20% of the territory of this region is located in intermountain valleys, the rest on the territory of which is not associated with mountain climbing and mountain crossings. Resting at the bases located in these areas, you can taste the delights that are typical for recreation on any plain, while enjoying the proximity of mountain peaks and their beauty from a distance.

Guests coming to the recreation centers of Tyva have at their disposal the opportunities provided by the numerous water resources of this mountainous country. There are more than 8 thousand rivers in Tuva alone, and the vast majority of them belong to the basin of the mighty Siberian river Yenisei. The deepest and longest Tuvan rivers are the Ulug-Khem and the Kaa-Khem and Bia-Khem flowing into it, as well as the Chemchik and Tes-Khem.

If you are interested in recreation on the water and if you intend to visit recreation centers in Tyva, then try to visit the Todzha Valley, which contains 70% of Tuva's 6,700 freshwater lakes. The largest of them in this valley is Azas, which is fed by flowing waters and stretches for as much as 20 kilometers. There are wonderful lakes in the republic, located high in the mountains. Such is, for example, Sut-Khol, sheltered at a height of 1800 meters in the middle of the Western Sayan spurs. It is interesting to relax or just visit the shores of such lakes as Kara-Khol and Chagytai. An interesting fact is that Chagytai is the largest freshwater lake in the Tuva Basin. Many are attracted to Tuva and the numerous springs of mineral waters, called in Tuva arzhaans. This word, which came into the Tuvan language from Sanskrit, means "saint". There are a lot of similar sources that give people this holy water, which has various beneficial properties, in the republic.

The Tuvan climate, which is sharply continental, has led to the presence of hot summers here, when the temperature often reaches +40°C, and very cold winters with frosts sometimes reaching -50°C. If you have a desire to visit the recreation centers of Tyva, then it is best to do this during the period from June to September.

Many impressions are taken away by the guests of these lands from communication with the kind and hospitable Tuvan people. For centuries, Tuvans, living in yurts, sacredly observed the established traditions and foundations, passing them from generation to generation. It was they who became the basis of national culture, norms and rules of good taste. Guests of the Republic of Tyva will be able to get acquainted with some traditions during the excursions organized for them. So, it is always interesting for guests to learn that, in accordance with Tuvan traditions, fire and rivers cannot be desecrated by throwing garbage at them, one cannot step over the flames of a fire, and it is extremely indecent for children to pass in front of adults or call them by name. Wanting to caress a child, Tuvans do not kiss him, but sniff him. Childlessness among Tuvans is a huge misfortune. In order to save the child, so that the evil spirit does not encroach on him, the child is often given ugly names, which, translated into Russian, mean: ugly, ugly, savage. For the same purpose, boys sometimes grow braids, and girls have their hair cut short. Of particular interest, of course, are Tuvan shamans famous for their mysterious power.

If you find yourself in Tuva at one of its recreation centers, then do not fail to go on excursions to get acquainted with the sights of this wonderful region. Such interesting places include, in particular, the Valley of the Kings, where you can see a chain of majestic burial mounds representing the burial places of Scythian leaders, the Ubsunur Hollow, in which there is a reserve belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Azas Reserve, the Por-Bazhin fortress and many other corners beautiful Tuva.

Throat singing is a fantastic ability of Tuvans (and some other peoples of Siberia) to simultaneously produce two or three musical sounds of different heights and at the same time pull them for 25-30 seconds without taking a breath. If you listen with your eyes closed, you can’t believe that these sounds are made by a person, and not a musical instrument.

During the ceremony, you will hear a story about the methods of preparation, brewing Tuvan national tea with milk and salt, learn about the history of tea in Tuva, tea legends and parables.

In the evening in the camp - a bewitching spectacle: the shamans' ritual. This is communication with spirits, a real witchcraft ritual by the fire, accompanied by lingering sounds and beats on a tambourine. The rarest case when several shamans participate in the ritual at once. For some, this will be a rite of purification, someone will plunge into meditation, and someone will simply make a wish - and it will come true. ** Kyzyl is located just at the confluence of the rivers Biy-Khem (Big Yenisei) and Ka-Khem (Small Yenisei), which form the famous Yenisei (Ulug-Khem). Dus-Khol is saturated with waters from arzhans - sacred springs, the water in which tastes like Essentuki and helps with almost all diseases ...
