Day 2

Bangkok

Breakfast in the hotel. Individual sightseeing tour of Bangkok with a Russian-speaking guide.

You will see Royal Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha- the main attractions of Bangkok, which everyone should see when they are in the capital of Thailand. The palace is a huge architectural monument, consisting of several buildings. Some of them are currently occupied by government offices, but the royal family itself has not lived here for a long time. The construction of the palace began in 1782 by King Rama I, who was the founder of the Rama dynasty. The palace occupies a large area of 218 thousand square meters. m with 95 pagodas and surrounded by four walls. The buildings open to the public are located in the southern part of the complex. From several palace ensembles, the royal residence with throne rooms and 17 government offices, temples, the royal library and others are distinguished. Many palace galleries are decorated with colorful frescoes that depict 148 episodes from the life of the founder of the dynasty, Rama I. The Royal Palace is open to tourists almost all the time, although sometimes official ceremonies are held here with the participation of the royal family.

Adjacent to the Royal Palace is wat po monastery- very popular among the guests of the city is the temple of the Reclining Buddha. The statue of the Reclining Buddha is huge - 15 meters high and 46 meters long, covered with golden sand.

Further on the program - Wat Arun Temple, one of the most beautiful temples in Bangkok. This amazing temple, which received its name in honor of the Indian God of Dawn, was erected on the banks of the Chao Phraya River and is famous for its grandiose, almost 80-meter pagoda, which is decorated with multi-colored porcelain.

Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch you will walk along the canals of Bangkok.

Day 3

Bangkok, chiangmai

Breakfast in the hotel. Private transfer to Bangkok airport.

09:40 Departure to Chiang Mai by Bangkok Airways scheduled flight PG 223. The duration of the flight is 1 hour 20 minutes.

11:00 Arrival in Chiang Mai.

Individual tour with a Russian-speaking guide in Chiang Mai - a real treasure trove of Buddhist temples.

You will see Wat Phra That- one of the largest and most important monasteries in Thailand. It is located on Doi Suthep mountain, which offers a stunning panorama of Chiang Mai. To climb to the temple, you need to overcome 306 steps on a steep staircase, framed by fanged dragons. An elevator is available for a fee. The golden chedi is Doi Suthep's calling card. Most recently, it was restored and now everything shines with gold. There are always a lot of people here: both tourists and local pilgrims.

Among the main religious attractions of Chiang Mai, a special place is occupied by Wat Suan Dok. Although this monastery is located outside the city, nevertheless, there are no less tourists from this. There is a whole legend associated with the history of this temple. When the temple had just opened, the king invited a monk from Sukhothai, a very respected monk in the Buddhist world, to take the place of the chief abbot. Together with him, he brought to Wat Suan Dok part of the sacred relic, which he found in the ancient city of Pang Cha. Once he had a dream in which a divine being showed him the way to the ruins of this city. When the monk went there, among the tall bushes deep underground, he found a chest. Opening it, he saw an artifact inside that glowed in an amazing way. All this pointed to the truly sacred nature of this object. When the king called the monk to move to Chiang Mai, this relic miraculously split into two parts, one of which he took to Wat Suan Dok.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

The next temple on the program - Wat Chedi Luang. This is an amazing place, which in ancient times captivated many Buddhists with its beauty and charm. Many years later, this pink-brick temple is no longer so beautiful, but it still remains a monument to its former glory. Wat Chedi Luang is famous for the fact that it was here that the statue of the Emerald Buddha first stood. On the north side of the temple, special Monk Talks are held, where Buddhist monks in English are ready to answer any of your questions.

Waiting for you in the evening dinner with Kantoke national show.

I have already rested several times in Pattaya and Phuket, and this time I decided to combine a beach holiday with Bangkok, to look at the capital of Thailand. The largest airport in Southeast Asia met me and my husband with its coolness and long corridors. You walk along it and think, when is this passport control already. And after going through all these formalities, picking up your luggage and being on the street, you understand that you are in a real bath, the same Turkish one. The climate is hot and humid. You constantly catch yourself thinking that you want to either plunge into the cool sea or wash yourself in the shower. Salvation is a group transfer, a tourist bus with excellent air conditioning. Having comfortably settled inside it, life again acquires colors and with interest you begin to examine what is around. How the local population lives in such a climate is a mystery to me, apparently, one must be born here.

So, then we are going to be accommodated in a hotel in Bangkok, I chose from the proposed options Adriatic Palace, which is in the city center, a modern high-rise hotel with comfortable rooms. In this place we had to stay only 3 days, we wanted not to waste valuable time and see all the most interesting things here and now. But, after such a long flight, it is hard to satisfy this need. Therefore, we decide to allocate a couple of hours for sleep. He wakes up in the afternoon, brings himself to his senses and decides, it's time to go explore Bangkok, at the same time and satisfy the feeling of hunger that has appeared.

So, Bangkok is a modern metropolis that combines wealth and poverty. Next to rich hotels, business centers, shops, there are real slums, where people live in some kind of makeshift shacks, wash in sewage, and wash their clothes there. At the sight of such a spectacle, it throws one into a fever.

We visited local food markets in search of something interesting, most often we met fish lying in a mountain on the counter without a refrigerator and ice. The air in such a place was appropriate. Not afraid to get poisoned, the locals were happy to bargain and buy this fish. These are the miracles. By the way, she’s also a marvelous diva, you walk along the center of an active street, everything boils from everywhere, smoke is like a rocker, cockroaches are sold on transportable carts, raw, fried, in batter. I didn't risk it again, I just looked and was surprised.

On the other hand, Bangkok has a large number of shopping centers. By type, as we have in Russia, or rather in Moscow. There, my husband and I were not afraid and ate local fast food. Good place for Japanese cuisine Fuji. Sushi is very tasty here, as well as other dishes. You can take it without fear, how many times you ate it, you never got poisoned. This is a chain restaurant, it is also available in all resort areas.

When it began to get dark, we decided to climb the observation tower and take some panoramic photos. The tower is a 4* Bayok Sky hotel. A fast elevator lifts you up in a matter of seconds and you are already admiring the beauties of Bangkok. Of course, the height is still the same, I won’t say exactly how many meters there are. But it was even scary.

If you want to do a little shopping, then I advise you to do it here, and not in the resort area. The night market opens at 23:00. Tell any taxi driver Night market and he will gladly take you there. Whatever they sell there, the prices are low, so you can still bargain. Here take souvenirs, clothes, Thai robes, T-shirts. I bought a very beautiful dress for $10. The husband really could hardly endure such a pastime, with a girlfriend it is definitely more interesting here.

In the evening, if you wish, you can get to all kinds of erotic show programs. But, you can’t get on them from the street. They are not legal. It is better to ask the guide with such a question, he will be able to get a couple of tickets. And the locals will surprise you with their imagination and resourcefulness. Particularly impressionable there is probably not worth going. The price is 500-800 rubles per person. Drinks are already included, usually Singha beer (very good). The program is designed for about an hour, and then everything starts again. You can leave, you can stay - as you want, no one will drive you.

The next day we got up quite early, had breakfast and waited for our bus, which was supposed to take us to the Royal Palace of Bangkok. It occupies a large territory, very beautiful, consists of not one temple, but several. It glows gold in the sun, at the entrance there is a statue of three giant elegant elephants. Again very hot. When we were brought and dropped off, half of the tourists ran to rent long skirts and shirts with sleeves, not everyone was dressed appropriately. According to the rules, you cannot enter the territory of the palace with bare heels, knees and shoulders. Who has forgotten, pay 200 rubles and rent outfits. Convenient but not hygienic.

Gathering the whole group at the entrance, the guide began a story about when this complex was built, what it consists of, and its affiliation. In general, the tour is interesting, but tiring, walking in the heat for 2 hours is hard. It is necessary to be really interested in this culture, to understand what it is and why. I liked everything, their temples are really a work of art, the aroma of incense hovers around. After taking beautiful pictures, I rushed to the exit. They sell refreshing coconuts, which are broken with a hatchet in front of you and you can immediately enjoy refreshing coconut milk. By the way, small coconuts are much tastier than large ones.

After the Royal Palace, we were taken to the Jewelry Factory. They talked very informatively about how sapphires are mined in Thailand, this is just their stone, they call it Siam. Then they lead to the factory and you can see in real time how jewelers make all these jewelry. Each stage is separate. Well, as everywhere and always, in the end you can buy something for yourself as a keepsake. The most inexpensive here is a string of pearls, and gold jewelry all goes from $200 and up. Therefore, when flying to Thailand, you need to put them in the budget initially. My husband and I did not plan to make such purchases, so we waited for the others in a cafe where they poured drinks and ice cream for free. This ended the program.

Our guide also offered a dinner tour on the boat along the canals of Bangkok, but my husband and I refused, because walking along these same canals we were not happy with the worthwhile smell. And they hardly imagined dinner next to the canals.

The next day we packed our suitcase and the mini bus took us back to the airport for the flight to Phuket. What can I say, Bangkok is worth seeing, but there is nothing to do here for more than 3 days. Feel the local flavor, real Thailand, that's what the capital gives tourists.

And having arrived on the island, this flavor already disappears. Beautiful hotels, restaurants, crowds of tourists. Great for relaxing, no doubt about it. But this is a completely different Thailand.

By choosing a sightseeing tour of Thailand or a beach holiday with a large number of excursions, you touch the thousand-year history of an amazing country.

The first people appeared on the ancient land of Thailand about half a million years ago. Favorable climatic conditions contributed to the long-term preservation of the primitive communal system. The first class formation dates back to the 1st millennium AD. e., and the earliest mention of a large state in this territory can be found in the chronicles of the Lavo empire of the 7th century. AD Later, due to feudal strife, the empire weakened, and in the 11th century. The Lavoe empire finally fell under the blows of the Cambodian Khmer state. When visiting Thailand, be sure to make an excursion to the country of the ancient Khmers - tropical Cambodia. By the way, there is still tension in relations between Thailand and Cambodia, which often results in border conflicts.

During the XII-XIII centuries. on the territory of modern Thailand, new principalities were formed, the population of which professed Buddhism. In the 13th century, after overcoming feudal fragmentation and uniting the principalities, the Khmers were driven out of Thailand. A new empire, Sukhothai, was created, which existed until the 14th century.

At the same time, the principality of Siam enters the historical arena. In the 17th century Siam opened trading posts for Europeans. Taking advantage of this, the British and Dutch at the end of the XVII century. launched a war of conquest against Siam. In response, Siam began to pursue a policy of isolation from Europeans. Siam weakened, wars broke out with neighboring countries. For a short period, Siam was captured by the Burmese. At the end of the XVIII century. Siam became independent again, and in the middle of the XIX century. re-engaged with the British. In the middle of the XIX century. The British imposed a predatory treaty on Siam, giving them priority rights to trade. At the beginning of the XX century. Siam is already an absolute monarchy.

During World War I, under the influence of Great Britain, Siam fought on the side of the Entente (an alliance of Russia, Great Britain and France). In the 30s of the XX century. As a result of the coup d'état, the absolute monarchy was abolished, and the constitutional monarchy became the state system. In 1939, Siam was renamed Thailand.

During World War II, Thailand was allied with Japan and occupied Laos. After the defeat of Japan, Thailand capitulated. After the Second World War and up to the present day, political bad weather - monsoons, storms, and even tsunamis - is a common thing. But they also pass quickly, like a tropical downpour: now it’s almost a flood, and in a minute it’s already sun. Everyone is happy again!

After the Second World War, during the confrontation between socialism and capitalism, Thailand, unlike Vietnam and Laos, chose the side of the United States, and the Americans placed their naval base in Pattaya.

In connection with the appearance in Pattaya of a large number of American military personnel, this city was flooded with priestesses of love from all over Thailand. Since that time, the world resort center of the sex industry - Pattaya - has been formed. Sex tours to Thailand are extremely popular not only in Western Europe, but also among Russians. Sex tourism is not our profile, but we do not refuse tickets and tours to anyone. By the way, Western Europeans have become famous for their unbridledness and nightly adventures due to the fact that they get away with everything. In Thailand, the tourism industry is a "cash cow" for the state, and therefore the antics of tourists are often turned a blind eye here. Such permissiveness was fertile ground for the development of sex tourism. We recommend our compatriots to be especially careful when visiting haunted places, as the authorities are unable to control the activities of a great many establishments offering exotic and ancient services.

Currently Thailand is a constitutional monarchy. The capital of the state is Bangkok. The bicameral National Assembly is the country's highest legislative body. In 2011, for the first time in the history of Thailand, a woman, Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra, became the Prime Minister of the Land of Smiles. Look at her photo to make the first and very pleasant impression of this exotic country and its citizens. The population of Thailand is over 60 million people. Malays, Chinese, Khmers, peoples of the Tibeto-Burmese group, many ancient tribes constantly live in the country. The official language is Thai, the official religion is Buddhism.

Currently, flights to Bangkok and Phuket are carried out not only from Moscow. Flying to Pattaya is as easy as flying to St. Petersburg or Sochi. No obstacles! At 18:00 you pay in "MOSCOW-TOUR" air ticket ( Payment Methods), and depart at 22:30!

Our compatriots who visited Thailand note the remarkable character of the locals. By nature, they are benevolent, courteous, compliant. An atmosphere of warmth and openness reigns everywhere. The main appeal of the Ministry of Tourism of Thailand to attract tourists - smile! And Thais follow this call every day and with pleasure.

II. Geography.

The area of Thailand is almost equal to the area of France - more than 500 thousand km². From north to south, Thailand stretches for 2500 km, and from west to east - for 1250 km.

The climate of Thailand is typical for tropical and subequatorial latitudes. Thailand borders on Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, in the south - on Malaysia.

From the north and west, the country is surrounded by mountains, the height of which reaches 2500 m above sea level.

The largest rivers in Thailand are the Menam Chao Phraya and the Mekong; reservoirs are built in the mountains.

It is impossible to travel around Thailand in one trip! Not a single sightseeing tour or just a vacation can satisfy the endless desire to learn more and more about this beautiful country of Buddhist temples.

III. Climate.

Tropical monsoons bring up to 2000 mmprecipitation. The dry season lasts from November to April. Average annual temperature on the plain 26 °C. The rainforests of Thailand cover about a quarter of the territory. The Korat Plateau is occupied by savanna and woodlands. The high temperature combined with high humidity makes an unaccustomed person feel like a "bath" (by the way, Thais don't sweat...). This is why the Central Maenam Plain is one of the most fertile in the world, making Thailand one of the world's largest producers of rice. During tropical downpours, Bangkok turns into a rain river. But the sun on the famous beaches of Thailand and its exotic charms compensate travelers for all the inconveniences of a tropical climate.

Many tourists have an idea of the rainy season based on Daniel Defoe's novel "Robinson Crusoe" and its film adaptation. We assure you: tropical showers only refresh the midday heat and reduce the strength of the sun's rays. So a holiday in Thailand is wonderful at any time, especially since Transaero flights to Bangkok and Phuket and Aeroflot flights to Bangkok are carried out all year round.

To Thailand with "MOSCOW-TOUR" - all year round!

Throughout the year, from dawn to dusk, MOSCOW TOUR sells tours and air tickets to Thailand: to Bangkok and Phuket. It is interesting to note that Thailand is especially popular with seasoned tourists, even in the height of summer, in July and August, when prices for Mediterranean resorts "reach the heights of Mont Blanc." And here, in Thailand, the prices are as gentle as the rays of the Thai sun in the off-season.

Anyone who flies to Thailand with children should be aware that the acclimatization period lasts from 3 to 7 days upon arrival at the place and upon return to our harsh climate. Let's remember Pushkin: "and our northern summer is a caricature of southern winters, it will flash and not...". Therefore, we recommend trips for a period of two weeks to a month, especially since our fellow citizens can rest in Thailand for a whole month without a visa. "MOSCOW-TOUR" sells extra-long tours and air tickets to resorts in Thailand (for 3-4 weeks or more). So welcome to a country full of exotic!

IV. Flora and fauna.

In the west of Thailand, mountainous forests are located - the protected areas of Khunthan and Tanentahunji. This is the habitat of many rare animals, as well as the richest flora. The largest national parks are Khao Yai and Thungsalengluai. The southern islands off the coast of Malacca - Phuket and Koi Samui are rightly called pearls of nature. On the coast of the Gulf of Thailand near Pattaya, another miracle created by human hands is the Nong Noh Orchid Park. This is the largest botanical garden in Southeast Asia. Hundreds of hectares host the richest collections of orchids and cacti, hundreds of deciduous and coniferous trees, all kinds of palm trees. Here you will find bushes trimmed in the form of animals, man-made cascades of ponds. In the orchid park you can visit the famous elephant school.

Indulging in relaxation on the beautiful beaches of Phuket and Pattaya, make time to visit the fragrant and flowering parks: this trip will set your soul in a pathetic way and enrich your perception of beauty. There will be something to remember on a long “snowy” night.

Aren't the memories too vivid? Let's fly to Thailand!

V. Culture and architecture.

Archaeological excavations are actively conducted in the North and East of Thailand. In the Ban Chiang region, rock paintings have been discovered that are almost five thousand years old. There are also monuments of the period of Khmer domination (IX-XI centuries) - the temples of U Phanom Rung and Phimai with bas-reliefs of gods and ancient heroes, as well as the monastery of Phra That Phanom built later.

In the southwest of the country, traces of the Buddhist empire of Dvaravati have been preserved - the remains of temples with sculptures and bas-reliefs.

The pearl of ancient Thailand is the first capital of the Thai principality, the fabulous city of Sukhothai, which flourished in the 13th-15th centuries. Now Sukhothai is a large archaeological park with the remains of ancient temples, and all these antiquities are bordered by ponds strewn with lotuses. Spectacular!

In the north, in the second largest city in Thailand, Chiang Mai is the famous Buddhist monastery Doi Suter Shrine.

VI. Excursion tours (excursions) in Thailand

Sightseeing tours in Thailand are varied and very exciting.

First of all, all tourists tend to visit the Royal Palace in Bangkok - the residence of Thai monarchs, as well as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha - a symbol of national independence. When visiting ancient temples, you have the opportunity to get acquainted with the best examples of national architecture. The mandatory program also includes a sightseeing tour of Bangkok, including a tour of the Old City, the temples of the Golden and Sleeping Buddha, as well as the Marble Temple.

For nature lovers, excursions are organized to national parks, to the elephant school, to the crocodile and snake farm.

You can participate in a safari with a length of about 8 km, see wild animals in their natural habitat. After the safari, tourists visit the Marine Park.

A special place is occupied by water excursions around Bangkok, including dinner on board, during which you can taste national dishes.

It is worth visiting the floating market, where trade is carried out from special boats. This is very unusual for us.

One of the river routes is an excursion to Auyutaya - the amazing ancient capital of Siam (XIV-XVIII centuries), once destroyed by the Burmese. There is not enough imagination to describe what they saw: the ruins of ancient temples, towers of “airy” pagodas, fabulous stupas in the shape of a lotus flower, bells decorated with amazing drawings.

An excursion to the Dream World amusement park will especially appeal to children, as this park has many exciting rides and interesting show programs.

And of course, boat trips, visiting coral islands, diving, surfing.

There are so many interesting things in Thailand that it is impossible to list everything!

When traveling in Thailand, take care of the monuments, remember that this is an integral part of world culture and that your children and grandchildren will also travel to Thailand.

VII. Bangkok -"City of Angels"

(and, almost like in the movie "The Diamond Arm", - "a city of contrasts").

For those who fly to Thailand for the first time, Bangkok is the first stop. Link "Schedule of flights Moscow-Bangkok-Moscow". 10 hours - and you are in Bangkok. Snow and rain are behind, and ahead are smiles, flowers and the sun. Bangkok is an exotic foreign capital full of secrets, mysteries and discoveries. It is this city that creates the first impression of modern Thailand. Bangkok is a huge heart, in the rhythm of which the whole country pulsates.

But at one time there was a tiny fishing village on the site of Bangkok. This Asian city is full of amazing monuments of architecture and art. Thousands of temples, the Grand Royal Palace, built 200 years ago, the ancient royal residence of Chitralada Villa, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the Marble Temple, built at the turn of the 20th century, Phra Tinang Paisan Takshin - a temple designed for the coronation of the monarchs of Thailand.

The population of the city is 6 million people. The area of Bangkok is just over 1.5 thousand km2. The hotel base of Bangkok - 20 thousand rooms, the cost of accommodation in a decent hotel in a room with all amenities and with breakfast - from $ 10 for 1/2 dbl. You can always count on discounts in hotels in Thailand.

Thailand offers holidays for every taste. Bangkok is a city of paradoxes! Hundreds of Buddhist temples coexist with modern skyscrapers.

The oldest in the city is New Street. Half of Bangkok is covered by canals - a real salvation for traffic jammed streets. After all, traffic jams are the scourge of Bangkok. You can always take a boat on the waterfront. And now large and small ancient and modern buildings float by. What is not here! Floating shops, restaurants. Ice cream is sold everywhere. It is said that there are more boats in Bangkok than cars.

Let's return to the most famous streets of Bangkok. Chinatown is a commercial center, Silom Road is a street of bankers, Ratchadmoen Avenue is the location of government agencies, offices of foreign companies. On the streets of Patrong and New Petchaburi Roads, where not the poorest people live, there is a vibrant nightlife: bars, restaurants, all kinds of entertainment. Old Bangkok (Duzit and Bangkapi districts) is built up with private houses. Apartment buildings are also not uncommon, with both locals and foreigners living in them. The lot of the poor is the outskirts.

Every tenth inhabitant of Thailand is Chinese and Indian, their presence gives the city an amazing flavor.

Everywhere in the city, starting with hotels, there are nightclubs. Bangkok's nightlife is a well-known topic. At night, you can visit the performances of national dance groups, ethnographic ensembles. So the nightly cultural program in Thailand is not only hiking in hot places.

Among the entertainments one can also include a visit to the famous Sunday market, where you can buy everything your heart desires: fruits, vegetables, national decorations and much more.

In Bangkok hotels ("Manohra", "Shangri La", "Asia Bangkok" and many others) there are not only well-equipped rooms, but everything, what makes life easier in the tropics: swimming pools, health clubs, darkened bars, etc. There are many Buddhist monasteries in the vicinity of Bangkok, many residents of the metropolis come here to pray or ask for advice. Temples and monasteries are famous for their wall paintings that tell about the deeds of the Buddha and the most important historical events.

XIII. Transfer.

Bangkok International Airport is located 22 km from the capital. Domestic flights are operated from the adjacent terminal. You can get to the city by bus. All vehicles are air conditioned. Travel companies provide cheap transfers from any airport in Thailand to almost any hotel, and group rates are valid even for 1-2 people. Discounts for tours provided for group tours are also valid for individual tourists. Low rates for tours and transfers are common due to the high flow of tourists.

XIV. Transport in Thailand.

Domestic flights Flights are operated by Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways. Flights from Bangkok to Phuket are operated daily, the cost of a one-way ticket is about $140. Flight duration is approximately 1 hour. Bangkok Airways also operates flights from Bangkok and Phuket to Koh Samui. Service is good, prices are affordable, discounts are constantly provided.

INTERCITY BUSES. In Thailand, buses run regularly and on schedule. , tickets are cheap. Transport is 3 classes. I class - standard buses are orange, roomy, the windows are not glazed for better ventilation. These buses stop on demand and therefore move slowly. II class - blue buses with air conditioning, they stop only in large settlements. Class III - VIP buses with fewer seats. State buses depart from the Ban Ko So terminals (Ban Kaw Saw), tickets are also sold at the box office here.

RAILWAY TRANSPORT. Thailand's railway network is not widely used by tourists, although it is very convenient to travel on them. Trains are divided into several classes and types (express, fast, special, etc.). On long hauls, you will be offered class II sleeping cars without air conditioning. There are luxury carriages. You can buy food and drinks on the train. The legendary Orient Express runs from Bangkok to Singapore, offering its passengers an unforgettable experience in the spirit of Jules Verne's novels. 2 nights and a day are waiting for you in luxurious carriages in the colonial style of the 20s. However, the prices for this express train are truly royal: from $1200 per person.

THAILAND PUBLIC TRANSPORT. The most popular type of street transport is tuk-tuk motor rickshaws with a scorcher-driver. These cars are provided with a comfortable seat for the passenger and an awning. It is better to agree on the price with the driver in advance. A trip around Bangkok, Pattaya and Chiang Mai will cost about 50 baht. And in small towns, for just a few baht, you can ride a samlo cycle rickshaw. In Chiang Mai and Pattaya, the function of a fixed-route taxi is performed by songthaeo - small trucks lined with benches for passengers.

CAR RENTAL. In Thailand, left-hand traffic, there are some cutting-edge rules that one way or another has to be reckoned with. Renting a moped or motorcycle costs about 150-500 baht per day, a car or jeep - from 500 to 1500 baht per day. Local guides or experienced compatriots will tell you where you can rent a car. Everywhere has its own specifics, but still it is better to book through the international Rent a Car chain, as they are more reliable, and their prices differ slightly from the prices of local companies. Do not take a completely cheap car: fuel is inexpensive in the country, and the technical condition of cheap cars is usually very poor. Traffic on the streets of Bangkok is heavy and usually difficult. To drive a car in this chaos of tuk-tuks, limousines and trucks, you need a lot of experience, incredible patience and the ability to see in the dark, as the streets of the city are poorly lit in the evenings. We do not recommend driving around in open transport in a beach suit: accidents are not uncommon here and in case of trouble it is better to look more respectable.

Be extremely careful on the streets of Thailand, as in the event of an accident, you will be blamed for it. Keep in mind: in any country, the police protect their residents first of all! And yet in Thailand there is no such all-consuming corruption on the roads as we have.

XV. Telephone communications.

There are two types of street telephones in Thailand. Red payphones are intended only for local lines (the cost of a call is 2 baht for every 3 minutes), green ones are for long-distance lines (the tariff depends on the distance and duration of the call).

XVI. National cuisine.

Thai cuisine is one of the best in the world. Most Thai dishes are very spicy, and for a stomach that is not used to such food, this is a very serious problem. Remember: do not drink hot sauces with water! Better, as the Thais themselves do, take more rice or eat bananas. The most important food product in the country is rice. There are two varieties of rice: white fluffy and glutinous. It is customary to eat friable rice dishes with a spoon: it is held in the left hand and the rice is put into it with a fork. Sticky rice is eaten with the right hand and rolled into small balls. A knife is not used in serving, since all the components are cut very finely and can be taken directly with your hands. The characteristic aroma of Thai cuisine is given by seasoning from fresh coriander leaves and lemongrass. Europeans prefer fried rice, which goes well with other ingredients: fish, crabs, vegetables and eggs. A true delicacy of Thai cuisine - curry sauces with coconut milk, which are added to a variety of dishes.

The second most important Thai food is noodles. Noodle soups and other noodle dishes are often eaten with chopsticks and seasoned with the famous fish sauce.

Fruit. In addition to the pineapple, papaya and mango that we have long been accustomed to, many other fruits grow in Thailand that are little known in our market: durian, mangosteen, sapodilla, rambutan, longan, jackfruit, pink apples. All this you can try during your trip.

Thais are true artists in cooking, who are fluent in the art of carving. What kind of figures they do not manage to cut out of fruits and vegetables, using special knives for this!

Thai cuisine is not characterized by sweets familiar to Europeans, but there are still desserts made from eggs, bananas, coconuts and rice.

Thais' favorite drink is cold water, coffee, tea, lemonade, beer, brandy are also popular. Almost everywhere you can buy juices that are drunk both in pure form and with the addition of ice and syrup.

The low cost of tours to Thailand is formed, among other things, due to low prices for food and services. Taking into account discounts and special offers for tours, we can say that Thailand is the most affordable of all exotic countries.
In Thai cities, eateries at affordable prices are located on every corner. Neat housewives work in them, professionally preparing excellent dishes from fresh products from the market. There is usually no menu. Approximately the same set of dishes is offered everywhere. If you want to have lunch, then there will be no language barrier: you can explain yourself “on your fingers”. Street eateries may seem dubious, but food is prepared right in front of you, and Europeans who live in the country often buy something for lunch or dinner in such "canteens".

If you want to go to a restaurant in the provinces, it is best to find out from the locals what, where and how they cook. The menu in the restaurants is amazingly varied. By tradition, all dishes are served on the table at the same time, and the person himself decides which dish to start the meal with and how to finish it. If you are a vegetarian, we advise you to say “kin ye kin te pak” every time. This will not surprise anyone, as many Thais adhere to the traditions of a vegetarian diet. In all major cities, in addition to the traditional Thai breakfast, you can order dishes of Western European cuisine.

XVII. Shopping.

If you are not a connoisseur, it is better not to look at antique dealers. There are far more fakes among the "antiques" than the originals, and the originals often turn out to be stolen. In addition, to export them abroad, you need permission from the Department of Fine Arts, and for the export of religious objects - permission from the Department of Religion. Every reputable antique dealer must have the relevant documents. Don't forget to take them: this is a kind of guarantee of authenticity.

It is better not to buy jewelry and trinkets made of precious stones in the market. There are also many fakes here. But pay attention to the lacquer boxes. The most beautiful caskets are of Burmese origin. You can buy them in the markets in Mae Sai and Tachilek.

Thai silver jewelry with niello is also a great gift. They are best purchased in Chiang Mai on Wualai Road. In the same city you can buy ceramics. Celadon is a famous green porcelain and an important export item. Beautiful and unique things made of natural silk. Very valuable legendary silks are sold on Jim Thompson, Suriwong Road and Rama IV Road. The lowest prices for silk in shops located on Suriwong and Silom Road. Very beautiful silk things are produced in Korat and Surin.

Bangkok is the best place to buy clothes. Bangkok is discounts and a large assortment. Quality and fashionable goods at ridiculous prices can be found in the night markets around Patrong and Silom streets, as well as at the top of Sukumvit Road. It also sells counterfeit items of famous brands. But original products of European quality can be purchased in large shopping centers. The most famous shopping spot in Bangkok is Mah Boon Krong Centre.

XVIII.This is how it is accepted here (how to communicate with Thais).

As soon as you bought a tour or an air ticket to Thailand in MOSCOW TOUR, think about your future communication with Thais. Thailand has its own taboos and traditions that you need to know in order not to get into trouble .

Traditional greeting in Thailand - wai, in which folded hands are applied to the head or chest. The younger generation is gradually moving away from traditional etiquette. Modern Thais get by with a friendly nod and a universal "hello".

When the royal anthem is performed, out of respect for their king, the Thais must stand at attention in the morning and evening. If the royal anthem is played in your presence, then it would be right to show due respect for this tradition.

Thais are tolerant, including to foreigners. The personal life of a person is taboo. But behavior in society is subject to strict regulation. Thais are very careful about their appearance and do not accept untidiness in clothes. Shorts for men and women are only allowed on the beach or in the hotel. But mini-skirts on women do not cause hostility.

Thais say: "A person's feet are always dirty, but his head is clean." According to etiquette, when entering any house, and even more so a temple, you must take off your shoes, and if you sit cross-legged, then in no case turn your feet towards Buddha statues, portraits of the king, people. Do not attempt to touch anyone's head, including children.

If you are ready to comply with all these rules, then you can safely fly to Thailand!

XIX. Red days of the calendar. Holidays.

You buy tours to Thailand at any time of the year, without thinking about the "red" dates of the Thai calendar, but local holidays can be the most memorable event during the trip. Songkran, the Thai New Year, is especially celebrated in the north of the country.

Each province and each monastery in Thailand celebrates its own special holidays every year. Religious holidays are observed according to the lunar calendar, while provincial holidays are tied to weekends. Each hotel has a calendar of events for the current year. Banks, institutions, museums are closed on holidays.

HOLIDAYS

End of January-beginning of February. Chinese New Year. This holiday is of particular importance for residents of the northern regions of the country.

April 13-15. Songkran holiday - Thai New Year. This is the most favorite holiday among Thais. On holidays, it is customary to pour water on each other, put on flower garlands, and paint faces. As a rule, during this period, many people leave the capital for their home provinces and Bangkok becomes empty. And foreigners, on the contrary, tend to get to Thailand on this particular holiday, and therefore planes, trains and buses are overcrowded.

End of April. Temple festival in Buriram province.

2nd week of May. Rocket Launch Day. This is a very unusual holiday for Europeans. Celebrated in the northeast of Thailand. Homemade rockets are launched with prayers for rain.
