In general, it was a long time ago, back in 2016. The North has always attracted me with its brutal nature and original culture. Thoughts about a trip somewhere further north have been nurtured for a long time. Somehow we got together with a friend (noted something) and decided to move somewhere to the North. At that time, I had already been to Karelia (reached Belomorsk), so another location was needed. Time was limited as always (9 days off on the May holidays), so that in terms of time / distance ratio, the Arkhangelsk region was optimally suited. In addition, the Arkhangelsk region is a real storehouse of monuments of wooden architecture, which attracts all sorts of lovers of everything Northern (like us). So we decided.

By chance, a few years ago, my family and I moved from the city of military glory of Khabarovsk to the hero city of St. Petersburg. And again the road began to beckon, especially since here, as well as on Far East, there is where to walk the horses and take the soul. Once again looking at the western part of the map of our vast Motherland, my eyes fell on Kola Peninsula…

What do you know about Kolyma? I think the majority will name: camps, cold, hordes of midges and herds of bears right on the road. Oh yes, herds of bears right on the road, which can only be driven by a tractor. I’m exaggerating, of course, but when people found out that we were going to Magadan, they said in all seriousness: “There are no roads there!”, “There are now bears climbed out.” Etc. But it couldn't stop us.

The idea of ​​this trip was born much in advance, at the end of 2017. In general, my wife and I love various trips very much, but the birth of three children made us very settled people for a long time. But the children grew up, we waited, dreamed, selected options and, finally, decided.

I have a drop of Polish blood in me. And when I retired, I decided to sort out some family issues. In particular, to find the mass grave of his grandfather, the commander of an anti-tank fighter battalion, who died on Christmas night in 1944 in Belarus (which was done), and at the same time to sort out his family tree.

I thoroughly prepared for the trip, having monitored the opening hours and prices of everything that interested me, and made something like a daily schedule. The trip plan is as follows: Late evening start from NN - arrival in St. Petersburg, cultural education 7 days - lunch start from St. Petersburg - overnight in Cherepovets - early start from Cherepovets and to the village with a stop and a walk around Yaroslavl, with a stop in Ivanovo and a quick run along Textile Profi - rest in the village for 5 days and go to work.

The only thing I was afraid of was a mudflow on the Georgian Military Highway (as in 2016). In case of bad weather conditions and the closed border, I prepared a plan B and even a plan C. One was to go to Georgia through Azerbaijan. The second plan was to stay in the Caucasus: Elbrus - Dombay - Grozny - Makhachkala - Derbent (Caspian Sea). In any case, we received the mountains + the sea. But I wanted Georgia.

We decided to take a chance and did not regret at all, without incidents on the road (thank God), despite the age of the car (31g). The traffic cops did not stop, but saw off with their eyes))). In Gelendzhik, we rolled into the mountains, nature, the view is crazy, we drank from a mountain stream. We rolled up to Abrau-Dyurso through Novorossiysk, there, of course, just like tourist centre Everything is very clean and very nice. They rolled up in Dzhubga - a garbage dump, a dirty beach, Shanghai in a word, but for some reason people are rushing. Novomikhailovsky - as the complete opposite of Dzhubga. In general, ride along the coast. Then they rushed to the grandmother of the village of Kubansky (Novopokrovsky district), ate gourds from the belly, stayed for a while, helped with what they could and drove to Tyumen. By the way, I advise everyone who will be near Volgograd to go through the village of Kotelnikovo - the fish there is simply gorgeous of different smoking. In Tyumen, we slept for three days and in Nizhnevartovsk, there we slightly transformed our beast (freshened the paint), stayed with our parents and back to Tyumen. That's how my wife and I had a busy summer))) Traveling by car is a topic.

The trip was born as an improvisation. One day, sitting at home, having dinner, suddenly an idea appeared: to go to Western Siberia. We quickly packed up and set off the next day. We didn’t even figure out how many thousands of kilometers we would have to go, along what routes. The most remarkable thing is that we didn’t even really understand the money, there was only enough money for one way. We walked at a speed of no more than 75, around the endless expanses that are monotonous and mesmerizing. The road is relatively good, but we could not solve the problem with an overnight stay, we spent the night right not far from the road. In Siberia, the issue of hotels and places for a snack is not thought out, you often have to get by with dry food, which is not good. After Moscow, I have never met any decent hotels. In the city itself, all cars are right-hand drive. There are hotels in the city, we found a decent motel, rested and slept. Already passed more than two thousand kilometers. Traveling by car is always a celebration of freedom and the satisfaction of one's own curiosity. The trip from St. Petersburg to Berlin is only about seven thousand kilometers, so we went to long way. The first city was Vilnius. Highly beautiful city ishko, small, but devilishly cozy. The Kaluga land is full of holy places, it is really the heart of the Russian land, so every summer we visit the shrines. Until now, we continue to travel and discover something new. In the morning we start not too early and head for the city of Zadonsk, which is located in the Lipetsk region. The monastery of Tikhon of Zadonsk is a famous, prayerful place. The road to Shchepkin is of moderate severity. The segment is small, but we constantly go along deep ruts. Then the M-4 road begins, the federal highway is a rest, we fly like on wings.
