Prambanan- an ensemble of early medieval Buddhist and Hindu temples, located 18 km east of Yogyakarta, near the southern slope of the Merapi volcano and the royal palace of Ratu Boko. The most popular among tourists is the grandiose 47-meter Loro Jonggrang temple - the largest in Indonesia, dedicated to the god Shiva. In translation, its name means "slender maiden" -
so called the statue of the goddess Durga in the main sanctuary.

In total, there are more than two hundred temples on the territory of Prambanan, most of which were damaged due to strong earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Religious landscapes with spiers rising to the sky were restored in the first half of the 20th century. Three temples rise in the center of the composition, decorated with stone reliefs on the themes of the ancient Indian epic Ramayana.

Prambanan is a stone "book" of Hinduism. Just as Borobudur is a complete collection of information on Buddhism,. In total, there are 42 compositions that are distinguished by greater dynamics and expression. Fantastic figures of gods and rakshasa devils, realistic images of animals - monkeys, birds, horses, crocodiles, as well as deeply human images of Rama, Sita are complemented by details of the life of the Javanese society of the 9th-10th centuries.

Excursion "Borobudur at sunset".

Borobudur- a Buddhist stupa and its associated temple complex of the Mahayana Buddhism tradition, located 40 km northwest of the city of Yogyakarta. Borobudur was built between 750 and 850 by the Javanese rulers of the Sailendra dynasty. The name may come from the Sanskrit "vihara Buddha Ur", which translates to "Buddhist temple on the mountain." Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world and the 8th wonder of the world.
Borobudur was erected as a huge stupa, made in the form of a mandala 34m high. The foundation of the stupa is square, with a side of 118 m. The stupa has eight tiers: five lower ones are square, and three upper ones are round. On the upper tier there are 72 small stupas around the large central one. Each stupa is in the shape of a bell. Inside the stupas are 504 Buddha statues and 1460 bas-reliefs on religious subjects. The shape of the mandala represents the scheme of the universe in accordance with Buddhist ideas.

Borobudur is called the “stone encyclopedia of Buddhism”: the pilgrim “comprehends the truth” on the way from the lower steps to the upper ones: in front of him, as he moves from the foot of the temple to the main stupa crowning the ensemble, the story of the life and teachings of the Buddha is unfolding, illustrated by more than 1500 sculptures carved from stone, reliefs and Buddhist symbols. At the top of the building, in the center of the highest terrace, which offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain landscape, there is a sanctuary with a diameter of 15 meters, symbolizing the highest goal and spiritual freedom.

Until now, Borobudur is a place of pilgrimage and prayers. Pilgrims pass seven times clockwise on each level. Touching each Buddha from the stupas on the upper tier is believed to bring happiness.

The fortress wall surrounding the palace is 1.5 km long. Its construction lasted several years, and was completed in 1785.

Now the palace complex is a city within a city, where almost 25 thousand people live. In it, in addition to the Sultan's Palace, there are squares, a mosque, streets, trading shops and shops, a music and dance pavilion, an armory, stables, and also a palace museum. The majesty of the palace is added by richly decorated front gates and an old platform. The Sultan with his large family still lives in the Kraton Palace. There are ruins in the western part of the complex. Taman Sari Water Palace built in the 18th century. Once the complex of buildings of the water palace was connected by canals-pools.

Sonobudyo Museum- Museum of Javanese Art, is a source of culture and history of the island of Java (area 7,867 sq.m). The layout of the museum, respecting traditional Javanese architecture, was designed by the Dutch architect Kersten.

Fort Vredeburg– the museum-fort was built in 1760. In translation, the name means “Fort of Peace”. The building is shaped like a turtle with four legs, and there are watchtowers at every corner. The museum has a collection of paintings, dioramas on the themes of Indonesian history.

The length of the island is 150 km from east to west and 80 km from north to south. A mountain range stretches from west to east of Bali - a zone of high volcanic activity. Two large active volcanoes Agung (3142 m) and Batur (1717 m) are located in the northeastern part of the island.

Religion in Bali - Agama Hindu Dharma - the religion of sacred water, a mixture of Shaivism and Buddhism, which came from Java. It is based on the philosophy of Hinduism with unique religious ceremonies rooted in the pagan beliefs of the Balinese. Nature is regarded as the highest power, and each of its components has its own spirits, which can be materialized in the altar or appeased by offerings (sajens) in the form of fruits and flowers. These rituals and offerings follow one after another and are designed to maintain harmony between the world of people and the world of the gods. In total, there are about 20 thousand temples in Bali. We will come into contact with the magical rituals of Bali in every excursion.

Denpasar is the capital and largest city of the island.

Excursion "The first acquaintance with Bali"

Our journey begins with a visit Tanah Lot Temple- one of the most picturesque temples in Bali, towering on a rock in the ocean. According to legend, the temple was built by the Hindu Brahmin Nirarthi in the 16th century, who saw the divine light emanating from a source in the rock of Tanah Lot.
The indigenous inhabitants of the island - Aga Bali believe that the water from this spring is considered healing, helps to cleanse from damage, brings good luck. The temple and the spring are guarded by poisonous sea snakes.

Visit to the Butterfly Park
, which is located five kilometers north of the "rice basket" of Bali, the city of Tabanan. This is an amazing place where you can see a variety of butterflies that live on the islands of the Indonesian archipelago. For example, a rare spectacular black-and-green ornithoptera priamus with a wingspan of more than 10 cm.

Next in Bali's Lake District

Visit Buyan Lake and Tamblingan, where you can relax a little while enjoying the stunning scenery.
Observation Munduk waterfall- one of the most beautiful in Bali.
Inspection surroundings of Lake Bratan with a magnificent panorama where you can enjoy the fresh mountain air and the blue lake surface. You will see pura oolong temple Danu with typical roofs in several tiers. The lake is dedicated to the supreme deity and god of water, Devi Dan, to whom during ceremonies believers (most of whom are farmers) bring gifts with a prayer for prosperity and to improve their well-being. The temple of Pura-Ulun-Danu personifies the life-giving power of the lake.

Visit to Taman Ayun Royal Temple surrounded by water. It was built by King Menwi Anak Agung Ngurah in 1634 and was the main temple of the kingdom of Mengwi until 1891. A distinctive feature of the temple is the many pagodas that rise above the inner temple courtyard and symbolize the sacred mountain for Hindus, Mahameru, which is the axis of the whole world in the center of the universe. It is on this mountain that the Supreme Deity and the souls of dead people live.

Accommodation for 2 nights in Ubud hotel.

Day 9

Excursion "Mysteries of the East of Bali"

7:30 - start of the tour.

Visit to Besakih Temple
- the main temple of the island of Bali, which was built on the highest sacred mountain of the island Gunung Agung in the 11th century.
The temple complex consists of 22 separate temples located at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level and covers an area of 3 kilometers. Besakih is called "Mother Bali".

Each of the temples of the Besakih ensemble has its own special significance: there are communal, caste, clan temples, for the construction of which all the Balinese kingdoms united. Today, Pura Besakih fulfills its former mission - it serves as a Mecca for Balinese from all over the island.

The main temple of the complex is the pyramidal State Temple Pura Penataran Agung with a huge statue of Garuda. It is surrounded by small family temples-crypts, where the tombs are wrapped in red, black, white fabrics and decorated with flowers.

On the seven terraces of Pura Besakih there are signal towers, cockfighting grounds, barns for storing grain, sculptures and stone thrones of the Hindu gods Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu.

The first courtyard is the entrance to the main temple, called "chandi bentar", which translates as "split pagoda". In the second courtyard there are outbuildings and figures of deities. According to Balinese beliefs, the gods come here to accept sacrifices and discuss earthly affairs. Between the first and second courtyards there is a gate - a series of luxurious pyramidal towers. Only the gods can pass through them: mortals must enter through openings in the wall.

In the third courtyard of the temple is the main relic - the throne of the spirit of the great mountain.

Moving to the east of Bali.

Inspection of the water palace of Tirtagangga (holy water of the Ganges), built in the middle of the 20th century by the last Raja of Amlapura, who was obsessed with water. Tirtagangga suffered in 1963 from a volcanic eruption, and in 1979 from an earthquake and was restored again. However, thanks to the painstaking and careful work done to preserve this monument of architecture and history, we still have the opportunity to enjoy it. The ensemble includes several beautifully designed ponds and fountains, beautiful gardens with comfortable walking paths. You can take a dip in the pool, and even dine in a restaurant located right in the garden.
A panorama of the most beautiful rice terraces awaits you, from which it is impossible to take your eyes off!

Subak- the system of irrigation of paddy fields, traditional for the Indonesian island of Bali. Considering the mountainous terrain of most of Bali, the subak operates under conditions of terraced agriculture, in which rice fields are located on artificially created or expanded ledges of mountain slopes. In 2012, the subak system was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Inspection of the water palace Taman Ujung, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century to meet officials and delegations. The ensemble consists of three ponds of different sizes with spacious pavilions connected by bridges. Taman Ujung did not escape the fate of many Balinese attractions and was partially destroyed during the eruption of Agung volcano.

Visit to Goa Lawah Temple(translated as the cave of bats), which is located in the area of Klungkung, in the east of Bali, and was founded in the distant XI century by Mpu Kuturan. This temple is one of the sacred six Balinese temples, and is revered not only by the Balinese, but by all Indonesians. The temple is made of black stone and lavishly decorated with golden ornaments. Everywhere there are images of "winged mice". The cave is a chain of "halls" connected by passages, the walls and ceilings of which are covered with fruit-eating bats. Bats, like many animals in Bali, are considered sacred.
Many myths and legends are associated with these caves. According to one of them, this cave is connected by a 30-kilometer passage with the Besakih temple.

Dancing is an essential part of Bali's culture. The Balinese dance everywhere - on holidays, in the evenings on the streets and even in temples. Many national dances bring legends to life and even reproduce scenes from epic works. A special place among these dances is occupied by performances based on the famous Ramayana.
In the evening, if desired, the Kecak dance.

Dance Kecak(or Ramayana Monkey Song) is a ritual dance and epic drama that every guest of Bali should see.
A dynamic costume dance in the open air at sunset guarantees a powerful charge of impressions and memories. The dance tells about the epic story of Love in the confrontation between Good and Evil described in the Ramayana: evil demons kidnap Sita from Hanuman (white monkey), he bravely fights them and eventually wins, which symbolizes the fire destroyed by the dancing actor. Between 40 and 150 men participate in the dance.
Kechak is performed without musical instruments, and the accelerating pace is set by the many-voiced rhythmic shouting of dancers imitating monkeys - “Chak-chak-kechak-chak”.

Both dancers and spectators can plunge into a real trance.

Kecak has a deep religious meaning for the Balinese, because through art and work they know God and the meaning of life.

In addition to the Kechak dance in Bali, you can watch ritual dances - Legong, Gambukh, Rejang and others.

Cabarceno National Natural Park(El Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabárceno) is, perhaps, one of the main visiting cards of Cantabria, and a visit to it should definitely be included in your program. It is located on the territory of the former iron ore deposit, 17 km from the capital of Cantabria.

The park covers an area of almost 750 hectares, where more 100 kinds of animals, from all five continents of the Earth, live almost in natural conditions. The climate of Cantabria is so mild and comfortable that animals and birds from almost all climatic zones of the planet, from the American prairies and African savannas, to the forests of Europe, coexist wonderfully here. Here they live in the neighborhood: brown bears and lions, tigers and ostriches, brown bears and rhinos, roe deer and gorillas, wolves and Gibraltar monkeys, bison and giraffes, hyenas and ostriches, wild boars and hyenas ... This may be surprising, but this fact is undeniable.

On the territory of modern Cabarceno, earlier, for 200 years, iron ore was mined in an open way, which gives the landscape of the park a unique and bizarre relief of the landscape, as if taken from another world. A man created this man-made shelter for his smaller brothers, in order to remain himself only a guest, watching from the sidelines the life of wild animals freely roaming their natural enclosures.

They tried to make animal pens here so large that they tried not to notice the limited habitat, and fences here replace trees, shrubs and other natural barriers. Therefore, it is not surprising that many species of animals that are difficult to breed in other world zoos easily give birth to offspring in the “animal paradise” of Cabarceno.

Acrobatic performances of sea lions, performances with the participation of predatory and exotic birds, a chic terrarium, fishing and walking - this is not a complete list of entertainment for park visitors.

The flora of the natural reserve is also rich. After the reclamation of the land, three Botanical routes stretched through Cabarceno, passing through the habitats of animals. Here you will find: hazel, chestnut, linden, yew, oak, olive, birch, beech, cork oak, holly. Route The first route, Hazel, Cork Oak and Yew, passes through the habitats of tigers. This is one of the most beautiful areas of Cabarceno, where they grow: bamboo, spruce, olive, birch, pine, oak, American chestnut, cherry, cypress, holly (holly), Atlas cedar, common and royal laurel, ginkgo tree, plane tree, fig tree, elderberry , oleander, strawberry tree, garden jasmine, ornamental grapes with burgundy leaves, etc.

The route "Beeches, lindens and birches" runs through the lairs of wolves and hyenas. Local representatives of the flora: cherry, olive, oak, sweet cherry, chestnut, spruce, elderberry, cork oaks, linden, laurel, etc. The Pines and Chestnuts route leads travelers between the corrals of bison and lions. Here grow: olive, several types of pines, fig tree, spruce, maple, American chestnut, cherry, oak, oleander, medlar, pink bushes and much more.

However, it must be borne in mind that walking around the message of Cabarceno is not an easy task, since the length of hiking trails here is more than 20 km. That is why it is allowed, and even recommended, to drive around the territory by car so that fatigue does not prevent you from enjoying the full pleasure of visiting the park. And halts for rest can be arranged in the numerous picturesque corners of Cabarceno, where there are car parks and picnic areas. There are also specially adapted parking places for caravans and motorhomes.
Among the infrastructure of the natural park there are many other objects scattered throughout its territory: playgrounds, first-aid post, kiosks, ATM, restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops. All catering establishments are scattered in different corners. You will not remain strangers at this animal celebration of life, and you can, almost anywhere, relax and have a bite.
In the very center of Cabarceno, right in front of the ostriches and antelopes, there is a cafe-restaurant "Bears" (Los Osos), with 280 seats. From its terrace you can see an aviary with clubfoot bears, of which there are about 70 individuals. Such a number of bears living in one space, you will not see in any zoo in Europe!

The restaurant offers not only à la carte dishes, but also ready meals (including for children), where you can choose from 4-5 types of first courses, the same number of second courses, dessert, bread, a bottle of wine and water. They are called Menu del dia (on weekdays), or Menu fin de semana (on weekends), and the cost of such a complex can vary from 10 to 16 euros. You will also find a nice gift shop nearby.
Another café, La Granja, can accommodate up to 400 guests and also offers a choice between à la carte dishes and set meals.
Next comes the Lago del Acebo cafe on the shores of Lake Asebo, next to the elephant enclosure. Great, quiet and beautiful place. The choice of food here is standard.
Next to the bird vivarium, at the main entrance to Cabarceno, is the La Mina cafe, with a terrace and a souvenir shop.
When planning a trip to Cabarceno, we recommend taking with you, in addition to a good camera, good binoculars. Trust me, you will need it.
