Ho Chi Minh airport bus. How to get from Ho Chi Minh Airport to the city

We prepared instructions on how to get from Ho Chi Minh Airport to the city center on your own. We will tell you what transport you can use to get from Ho Chi Minh Airport to the city, how much a ticket costs, how long the trip will take.

You can get to the city center (Pham Gu Lao tourist area) from Ho Chi Minh Airport by bus or using a transfer and taxi.

By taxi

How to get from Ho Chi Minh Airport to the city center at night? This can only be done by taking a taxi or ordering a transfer to the hotel.

At the exit from the arrivals hall there are several counters where you can order a car. Taxi prices to Ho Chi Minh city center start from 200000 VND($10), but can reach up to 250,000-300,000 VND ($13-15). They say that you can find a cheaper taxi on the street (VND 170,000), but we didn’t understand where exactly.

If you order a taxi to Ho Chi Minh at the counter at the airport - you pay it there at a fixed rate, then exit the building, find the right queue where you will be put by a taxi; You don't have to pay anything over this amount. If you are looking for a taxi on your own, it is recommended to go by the meter, it should be cheaper.

In time, a taxi ride will take about half an hour; if there are traffic jams, it may take longer. The most reliable companies in Ho Chi Minh are Mai Linh and Vinasun.

Keep in mind that Vietnamese taxi drivers do not speak English well, so it is better to write down the desired address on a piece of paper.

Transfer from Ho Chi Minh Airport

If you are afraid of fraud and price markups from local taxi drivers, you can pre-order a transfer from Ho Chi Minh Airport to the hotel. In this case, the driver with a sign will meet you at the arrivals hall, help with luggage and quickly take you to the right place in the city, and the price of the trip is guaranteed not to change.

This way to get to Ho Chi Minh City from the airport is suitable for those who are traveling with a lot of luggage, traveling with children or large companies, as well as those who arrive in the city at night.

Transfer price starts from 21 dollars per car (3-4 passengers).

If you wish, you can order a car to other cities in Vietnam (for example, to Mui Ne or to Vung Tau):

  • Nha Trang -
  • Mui Ne -
  • Vung Tau -

By bus

The cheapest way to get from the airport to the center of Ho Chi Minh (Pham Gu Lao tourist area) is by city buses.

Airport and city center are connected by bus routes №152 , №109 and №49 (last 2 launched in 2016). Buses depart every 15-20 minutes, travel time is 40-50 minutes.

  • bus number 152 - runs from 06:00 to 18:00. A ticket costs 5000-7000 VND (plus the driver can ask for the same amount as a surcharge for large luggage).
  • bus number 109 - runs from 05:45 to 01:30. A ticket to the center of Ho Chi Minh City costs 20,000 dong, and if the distance is less than 5 kilometers - 12,000 dong.
  • bus number 49 - runs from 05:00 to 01:30. Rides from Tan Son Nhat Airport to the city center, passing most of the major hotels on Pham Gu Lao Street. The ticket costs 40,000 VND ($2).

If your plane arrives at night, you will no longer be able to get to the center of Ho Chi Minh City by bus.

The bus stop at the airport is located next to the bike parking, in front of the Burger King restaurant. To get there, turn slightly to the right after you exit the airport's international terminal outside. The stop is not marked with any sign, so either look for a waiting bus or ask the airport staff for directions.

All routes stop at the bus terminal near Ben Than Market. This place is the western end of the Pham Gu Lao tourist area, so you will find cheap hotels and restaurants nearby. If you are taking bus number 152, get off near Ben Thanh market; if you take bus number 109, you can get off at the market or drive a little further, to the park on September 23.

I continue to write about how it is better and more convenient to move around in different cities and countries.

Today we will talk about Vietnam, or rather about Ho Chi Minh City (the old name of the city is Saigon) - the second capital of Vietnam . First of all, about How fast, convenient and not expensive get from Tan Son Nhat airport(Tan Son Nhat) Ho Chi Minh City to the city center, namely in tourist centre- to De Tham Street, which (together with the streets and alleys closest to it) forms Saigon tourist area.

It is from here that intercity buses (including) run in all directions in Vietnam. And they sell tickets.

It is full of shops and cafes where they understand English (and sometimes understand Russian even better), restaurants have menus in English and Russian. Here you can find any entertainment for every taste.

Most often, tourists go to this area, even if they do not plan to stay in Saigon for a long time.

Unlike, for example, Bangkok, in Ho Chi Minh City there are only 2 ways to leave for the city. By the way, the airport is located in the city, so it's not very far to go.

Method one:

TAXI

The easiest and at the same time very expensive way (much more expensive than in Thailand and even more expensive than in Russia). Taxi drivers will come to you as soon as you leave the airport (you can also order a taxi at the Tourist Information counter).

In my opinion, a taxi is somehow not sporty and not interesting, so we'll go by bus.

Method two:

BUS

Here I will stop in more detail. City bus number 152:

On it for only 5000 dong (8 rubles) you will reach TRAN HUNG DAO street. You need to get off at the bus stop next to Ben Thanh market. Most of the passengers usually get off at this stop. Bus number 152 is the only one in Vietnam where there is no conductor, here you pay for a ticket with a driver: you throw 5 thousand dongs into such a machine:

The driver will give you a ticket and change (if you have bulky luggage, it is paid separately). And remember the price - 5000 VND! The drivers of this particular route (unlike other buses in Vietnam, where there is a conductor) really want to cut down more money from the "rich" tourist. They can assure you that the ticket actually costs about 50 thousand and each of your even the smallest handbag is paid for as an adult passenger! Just say with a smile that you know how much the fare costs and demand change (or give him money immediately without change).
During our trip from the airport to the center of Ho Chi Minh City, the driver just wanted to fool us, but it didn’t work out. Then he wanted to cut some money from a Chinese tourist, but it didn’t work either (we told her the real fare). After that, he finally took offense at us and did not want to explain to us where TRAN HUNG DAO street is located. Yes, we found without it

After getting off the bus, you need to go to the left along the above street. And after 400 meters you will reach the intersection of TRAN HUNG DAO and De Tham streets - this is the center of Saigon's tourist life.

At the end of bus 152 there is Bus Information.

The Bus Information staff speak and understand English very well, and you can also meet a lot of foreigners here, so you can easily find out about the best way to get to any place in Saigon. City buses also run from here to all directions in Ho Chi Minh City (for example, from here you can get to (Suoi Tien) by bus number 19).

Near the Bus Information there is a bus traffic scheme:

On this, friends, I end the article. It seems to have told everything in as much detail as possible. If there are any additions, then welcome to the comments.

All unforgettable travels and comfortable travel!

Another convenient way to get from the airport to Ho Chi Minh City is by taxi. However, be prepared for the fact that, compared to buses, this option is much more expensive. Travel to the tourist area of Pham Ngu Lao will cost less than $ 10 (according to the meter it will be about the same).

We advise you to bargain mercilessly, as the initial price of taxi drivers is usually 2-3 times higher. And be careful if you go with a meter - you can be deceived. It is better to agree on a fixed price right away to be sure that you will not be deceived. Experienced travelers also recommend writing down the price on paper.

You will see the taxi rank immediately upon exiting the international terminal of Tan Son Nhat Airport - there is no shortage of taxi drivers here.

Perhaps it will be easier to order a taxi in advance at the service - immediately after arrival at the airport you will be met by a driver with a sign. It is convenient that you do not need to bargain with taxi drivers, it is also possible to choose the type of car you need. If desired, a transfer can be ordered immediately to the resorts: Vung Tau, Mui Ne, Nha Trang and others.

For those who travel light, the option with the so-called motorcycle taxi- taxi drivers on motorbikes. This is a fairly cheap way to get from the airport to the center of Ho Chi Minh City (from two to four dollars, as you bargain), and a little extreme - a great start to explore Vietnam! Motorcycle taxi drivers are waiting for tourists at the exit from the airport parking lot.

Ho Chi Minh Airport in Vietnam - Tan Son Nhat International Airport (IATA code - SGN) - is located within the city, six kilometers from the center and tourist areas. It receives about 70% of all flights from the CIS countries, and that is why we decided to dwell on it in more detail and devote a separate article to the question of how best to get from the airport to your hotel in the city center or on the coast.

The Ho Chi Minh Airport complex consists of two terminals - for international and domestic flights. International Terminal No. 2 was opened in September 2007, its capacity allows serving up to seventeen million passengers a year.

The terminals are very close to each other and to get from one building to another you just need to cross the street.

Ho Chi Minh Airport is located six kilometers from the city center

Tan Son Nhat Airport (as the name of the terminal is pronounced in Russian) has all the conditions for a comfortable stay for passengers. The complex is quite modern, and therefore it has everything you need: cafes, restaurants, Duty Free, first-aid post, etc.

If you plan to stop in Ho Chi Minh City, then near the airport you can find inexpensive and quite comfortable hotels. For example, Caravelle Saigon Hotel, Nikko Saigon or Parkroyal Saigon Hotel. Their photos, rating, location relative to the airport and numerous reviews of guests who have stayed here can be found at this link.

If a direct flight to Ho Chi Minh City is expensive, then you can also try looking for tickets with a transfer through.

Transport to the center and hotels on the coast

To get to the center of Ho Chi Minh City, you can use bus number 152. Its stop is located to the right of the exit from the terminal. The road to Pham Ngu Lao Street, where almost all budget tourists end up sooner or later, will take up to 40 minutes, depending on the traffic situation. Buses run from 6:00 to 19:00. The fare is 6,000 VND and 4,000 for baggage (2017). To understand whether this is a lot or a little, we note that at the end of 2017, about 23 thousand dong were given for 1 US dollar in Vietnam. The fare is paid directly on the bus.

The stop of the bus to the center of Hanoi is located to the right of the exit from the terminal

You can’t get to the resorts on the coast by public transport from the airport: you should change to a train at the Ga Gai Gon station or a bus at one of the city’s bus stations.

Taxi from Ho Chi Minh Airport

This option is well suited for those who do not know how to travel light or went on a trip with a child. At any time of the day, a taxi will drive from Ho Chi Minh Airport to the desired hotel in the city or the surrounding area. The car can be found at the exit of the terminal or called to the arrival of your flight via the Internet.

The second way is preferable. And the point is not only that in Ho Chi Minh City it is quite possible to run into a taxi driver who will drive in circles. Another reason: many taxi drivers simply do not speak English and it is almost impossible to communicate with them.

Taxi at the airport can be found at the exit of the terminal

When booking online, everything is simpler: the service calculates the cost of the trip in advance, and the traveler knows the fare even before confirming the order, and drivers who speak foreign languages are hired into the service itself. In addition, in this way you can additionally order child seats for the meeting car - it will be much more difficult to find them on the spot.

Meeting with the driver when ordering online is usually scheduled at the exit from the arrivals area. It is impossible to miss each other, since all the details of the upcoming trip, including the necessary contact numbers, are sent to both the driver and future passengers by e-mail.

Ordering via the Internet is also convenient because it allows you not to worry about changes in the flight schedule. The carrier company monitors the scoreboard of Ho Chi Minh Airport and sends a taxi directly to the landing of the aircraft.

We contacted the host and warned about our arrival, and, taking a deep breath, took the first steps from Tan Son Nhat airport towards noisy Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). The second important question after the exchange of money and mobile communications: how to get from saigon airport to city center.

by taxi.

The first Vietnamese you meet when leaving the airport will, of course, be taxi drivers. They will gladly and generously take you to the city center, while breaking you triple the cost. So why am I describing this method, you ask?

The path to the long-awaited bed

Since we decided not to settle in a popular tourist area for backpackers and budget tourists - Pham Ngu Lao we managed to negotiate for 220,000 dong at a fixed price, with a check written before boarding a taxi. And so, under the quiet sound of the air conditioner, we drove slowly through the evening Saigon. Tired from a long flight, but already a little happy, because every element outside the window was absolutely new for us, and we looked at everything with an eager childish curiosity. Ahead of us was our local host and a cozy apartment with a panoramic view of the whole city from a height of 22 floors.
