Outdoor guide to Sochi and Krasnaya Polyana. Krasnaya Polyana - Sochi resort Krasnaya Polyana mountains

Krasnaya Polyana is not an independent city, as it might seem at first glance, but an urban-type settlement in the Adler district of the resort city. I really love this place and I think that Krasnaya Polyana, with all its internal infrastructure, nature and numerous tourist ski resorts, is quite isolated and almost not connected with the city, but you have to get here from, which I will discuss later.

Based on the name of the place, the question naturally arises: why is the glade red? I will say right away: the exact answer is unknown, but there are several points of view. The first one says that the first settlers, descending from the mountains in autumn, saw fern thickets in a clearing and emitted its dark brown color in the rays of sunset, mistaking it for red. Someone, on the contrary, defends the opinion that the name of the village was given at dawn, when the sun colored the nearby mountain peaks. One of the topographers in the last century exclaimed: “Krasnaya Polyana! That is - beautiful!

And indeed, the place here is simply beautiful: the village is surrounded on all sides by mountains, the height of which reaches 500 meters, the mountain river Mzymta flows nearby. However, personally, when I first came here, in addition to the purest mountain air, I was most impressed by the amazing beauty of nature, combined with luxurious five-star hotels, the latest equipment, and well-established infrastructure. You feel like you are in some kind of domestic San Moritz, just walking along the streets!

And even if your plans do not include skiing or rock climbing, just come here to admire the nature and amazing architecture, and at the same time find out where your taxes went :)

How to get there

You can read about how to get from Sochi to Krasnaya Polyana (Section in winter). How to get to Sochi from Moscow is said.

As for St. Petersburg, everything is almost the same, except for the bus and car, these two options are the most difficult, because they take a lot of time (almost 40 hours by bus or two days by car).

By plane

There are two direct flights: at 08:45 and at 11:10 am. The cheapest one-way ticket can be bought for 4719 RUB.

Planes take off from Pulkovo. Arrive at Sochi airport in the city. The minimum time you will spend on the road will be 3 hours (direct flight).

You can find flight prices for your dates.

I advise you to look at how to get from the Airport.

By train

Every day from the Moscow railway station in St. Petersburg at 20:07 a branded train "Northern Palmyra" departs for Sochi. He arrives not in Sochi, but at the Adler railway station (, Sochi, Lenina St., 113) after 37 hours, at 09:30 in the morning. The cost of such a ticket is 4026 RUB - reserved seat, 6079 RUB - coupe.

It is very convenient that the train arrives at the Adler station, which means that you will not need to travel long - just take bus 105 and in 10 minutes you will be there, and from the airport the most convenient way to get there is by electric train, well, or your choice ( See the link above for all available options.

By bus

By bus, the journey from St. Petersburg will seem very long and tiring. The cost of a ticket is not much lower than the cost of a plane ticket or a branded train ticket. But, if you still decide to go by bus, we will tell you about this method of transportation separately.

The carrier Passazhiravtortrans operates a bus route - Sochi every Saturday at 07 am. On the way you will spend 36 hours. On the way, the bus will make stops in the cities: Novgorod, Rostov, Sochi. Ticket price - 3000 rubles.

  1. Krasnaya Polyana
  2. Esto-Sadok

Krasnaya Polyana

Krasnaya Polyana is a ten minute bus ride from Esto-Sadok and 15–20 minutes from the slopes. Travel by bus to the slopes costs 19 RUB, by taxi - 200–300 RUB. Pros: housing is cheaper than in Esto-Sadok, hotel prices start from 2500 RUB, the private sector from 500 RUB per day, and most bars, restaurants and shops are located here. Cons: Can't walk to the trails.

Esto-Sadok

Closest to the slopes is the village of Esto-Sadok, a former Estonian settlement. He is Estonian. Most of the new hotels are concentrated there. Housing prices here are the most expensive. So, the cost of a room in a 2-3 * hotel starts from 3500 RUB, the private sector or guest houses from 1000 RUB / day. But from here the closest to get to the ski lifts)

On the territory of Esto-Sadok there is a mountain-skiing complex "Gornaya Karusel" and it can be reached on foot. You can get to Alpika-Service by bus for 19 RUB, and you have to walk another 300 meters from the stop to Gazprom. The main disadvantage is the poorly developed infrastructure. In Krasnaya Polyana it will be more diverse.

Adler

A stop in Adler is the choice of many tourists. Pros: weather. On the coast it can be almost summer (or maybe not). Near the sea, if you can call it a plus in winter. Cheaper housing. The cost of hotels starts from 1500 RUB, the private sector, guest houses and hostels from 400 RUB per day. Near the Adler market with inexpensive products. More entertainment. You can go on an excursion to Sochi and Abkhazia.

However, living in Adler also has significant disadvantages: to get to the place, you will have to spend about two hours on the road every day (an hour there, an hour back), so if you came just for a ski holiday, I recommend choosing between the first two options.

What are the prices for holidays

Housing

In winter, rental prices in the private sector of the village start from 800 RUB per person per day and end at 1500 RUB. Hotels and hotels on average offer 2-bed standards from 2500–3500 RUB per room (this is 2–3 *) per day and up to a ceiling of 100,000 RUB (5*). For comparison, in the summer you can find a five-star hotel option for 5,000 RUB per day for two, and this hotel will also work almost exclusively for you! Well, and, perhaps, the private sector in the summer reduces prices to 400 RUB, but two-three-star hotels are popular, so their prices are the same, except that in summer it is 500 RUB less.

In spring, the situation is similar to summer, and starting from November, prices again jump to the maximum limit. By the way, as you probably noticed, this mainly applies to 5 * class hotels, since in winter it is they who overestimate prices. Therefore, in the 2017 ski season, many five-star hotels did not open at all, and many were empty.

Excursions

As for excursions, there are two types of them: with departure from Sochi to the village of KP and from the village itself. For example, a group tour "Krasnaya Polyana + Olympic venues" (departure from Sochi) will cost from 700 RUB and takes 9 hours in time - it's cheaper than driving and returning from Krasnaya Polyana on your own, while the bus will pick you up from a place convenient for you . On the route you also visit the "Olympic Park". Excursion cards have a description of the costs, read and be careful.

You can also take several excursions from the village: to Sochi and to Abkhazia.

The cost of a sightseeing tour of Sochi is the same for everyone and amounts to 600 RUB, an additional fee for visiting Matsesta is 150 RUB, the duration of the tour is 4 hours.

A trip to Abkhazia will cost you 1500 RUB, children under 7 years old - 500 RUB, and the duration of such an excursion will be 12 hours, be prepared. Also on the route there will be additional costs (food, visits to certain attractions), read about them in the description.

Main attractions. What to see

A few years ago, it would have been absurd to think that in Krasnaya Polyana you could do anything other than skiing. In snowless weather, there was absolutely nothing to do. Now the situation in Polyana is diametrically opposite. There are so many entertainments in the mountainous part of Sochi that you face a very difficult choice - what to do if the ski lifts are closed?

Leisure options include excursions, but if you don’t want to leave the village, then I recommend visiting the entertainment center in Gorki Gorod, or the zoo, and for those who like to spend time “hot”, I advise you to go to the bathhouse or sauna (in some hotels there are own huge spa complexes and their visit is usually included in the price).

Top 5

sky park

I’ll tell you more about it below (in the entertainment section), for now I just want to note that this place opened quite recently, but has already managed to make a fuss among the residents and guests of Krasnaya Polyana.

Waterpark Mountain Beach in Gorky Gorod

A real water park in the mountains is not like in Russia, you can hardly find such a place in the world. And then there is a sandy beach with a volleyball court, saunas and baths, a restaurant, a large glass ceiling and a very pleasant atmosphere attached to the pool and attractions. The water park is open until 22:00, but it is better to calculate the time earlier, as the water on the slides and in the jacuzzi is often turned off earlier.

Admission fee: adult ticket - 800, children's ticket - 550 RUB.

Bowling "Parade of Planets" in the center "Galaktika"

“Don't know what to do? Come to the Galaxy! How? Haven't you been there yet?!”, say everyone who hears complaints about boredom in Krasnaya Polyana. "Galaktika" is a huge entertainment center, where everything is aimed at ensuring that you do not get bored. Bowling is very popular here. 8 lanes, space design, friendly staff and more than liberal bar prices. True, when we were there, I managed to grab the last bottle of beer, and then I had to answer questions from other visitors: “Where did you get this beer? And we were told that there was no beer! To put it mildly, the local bar does not shine with an assortment.

The cost of visiting bowling varies from 420 to 1020 RUB per hour of play, depending on the day of the week and time of day.

british bath

If you like to bathe in the bath, then you are here. This unique bath complex was founded by the Englishman James Larkin - hence the name. As James himself says, the concept of "Russian bath" has already acquired all sorts of negative meanings, and a bath is something that should be something exceptionally good. To take a steam bath, you need to rent the entire complex for at least 3 hours. During this time, you will have time to go through all the sacraments and rituals of the baths of the peoples of the world. "Package of sweating" Inipi - a bathhouse of the Red Indians with all the relevant rituals, "Hedgehog" - a smooth steam room in which steam is injected gently and gradually, a classic Russian steam room and a dozen different steam baths with natural herbs and all levels of "receiving" brooms. After the bath, you can climb into a kind of eco-jacuzzi - a boiler with hot water, which is heated on a real fire, or drink tea with honey in a relaxation room with a real stove.

The cost of renting a bathhouse for 3 hours (up to 3 people) is 15,000 RUB.

Aviary complex "Laura"

Few people know that on the territory of Krasnaya Polyana there is a large aviary with wild animals. Unlike a classic zoo, here the animals are in their natural habitat (except that they are still hidden behind a fence) and feel more free. About 30 species of wild animals that you can see, feed and stroke for ridiculous money.

Cost of visiting: 150 RUB for all categories of citizens.

What to see in 1 day

Here we will talk about how you can see the main sights of not only Krasnaya Polyana, but also its environs in 1 day.

I think if you have so little time to visit perhaps the most famous village in the country, then you will certainly want to see with your own eyes the legacy of the 2014 Olimpiad: those sports facilities from which television broadcasts were broadcast every day, and where our athletes fought for medals, became Olympic champions - this is very interesting.

So, let's begin.

  • 10:00 - sightseeing of the Olympic facilities: visiting the complex of ski jumps "Russian Hills", biathlon, ski stadiums.

  • 12:00 - lunch at the Trikoni tavern, by the way, there is a 40% discount on the entire menu until 16:00;
  • 13:00 - visiting the waterfall "Girl's Tears", which is located on the territory of the Krasnaya Polyana forestry, at the turn uphill 2 kilometers from the village of Krasnaya Polyana. If you don’t have a car, then all fixed-route taxis and buses (135, 105 and minibuses 105s, 105k) plying along this route will take those who wish to the sights. By the way, for unmarried girls, a visit to the waterfall is a must.

  • 17:00 - I advise you to return to the village and look into the shopping center "Gorki Gorod". Everyone will find something to do here: children will surely enjoy the water park with a sandy beach and mountain views of Mountain Beach, and adults can enjoy watching new products at the Starcinema cinema. You can also visit the entertainment center "Galaktika"), where the water park of the same name and the bowling club "Parade of the Planets" are located.
  • Well, at the end of the evening, if you still have the strength, you can sit in a bar or go to any of the nightclubs, which I will discuss below.

What to see in the surroundings

You can read basic information about what to see in the area.

The distances, however, will be somewhat different here, in the list I will start with the nearest ones. So:

  • Trout farm - 29 km;
  • Olympic Park - 45 km;
  • Stalin's dacha - 61 km;
  • Sochi park - 66 km;
  • Mount Akhun - 68 km

It’s a long way to get to Georgia (461 km), but for those who still decide, I recommend clicking on to find out how to do it.

Food. What to try

As for food, eating in cafes in Krasnaya Polyana is expensive. Unfortunately, so far. Food prices are quite normal (the same as in Sochi), but as for catering, they are very high even by the standards of the capital!

But we must pay tribute to the chefs - they know how to cook in Krasnaya Polyana! The cuisine here is different: from European to classic Caucasian and Russian.

But if you come for a long time, every day you don’t go to restaurants. That is why many tourists prefer to rent apartments with a kitchen, and take a classic set of thermos sandwiches with them to the slopes (by the way, this is also my advice).

I highly recommend visiting the Trikoni tavern, the Snowdrift restaurant, the Polyana restaurant, and the Achishkho Patsha at least once. Although the price tag here bites, we still live once! What kind of khinkali, souvlaki, chebureks are there, and even a simple shish kebab in the skillful hands of local chefs becomes extraordinary.

Budget

Dining room Chalet Polyana at the gate to Gazprom, a couple of small private cafes in the village itself. However, the most budget option on the slopes are tents on the second stage of the Mountain Carousel, it will be frankly expensive for many tourists to go to all other places.

Intermediate level

  • Burger Pub "Good Place"
  • PAPA PLOV,
  • Restaurant Che? Kharcho!
  • Oh, and everyone's favorite McDonald's!

Expensive

  • brunello,
  • Medora,
  • Sakhalin,
  • Restaurant-bar "People".

Safety. What to watch out for

In general, the resort is quite safe, especially after the Olympics, the streets are well lit and cleared. But in the village after 5 pm in winter I recommend walking with caution. Still, a village is a village: dogs without a leash, the locals are "drunk", all this is as popular here as in any other private sector of the country.

As for deception, dishonest sellers can be found mainly in tourist places on Esto-Sadok. So, you can be deceived when selling honey, hazelnuts by weight, so I don’t recommend buying anything in food tourist tents, it’s better to do it in specialized stores.

Things to do

Krasnaya Polyana is a place for active pastime: skiing or snowboarding, hiking in the mountains, etc. Of course, this is not a monastery, there are enough bars and nightclubs where you can relax after a busy day, but I recommend not to lose shape and visit the Skypark extreme park, which I will talk about later.

Bars. Where to go

Bars in Krasnaya Polyana are also presented for every taste. There are those where you can simply taste delicious exclusive author's cuisine and drink collection wine, try intricate cocktails and other alcoholic products (of course, the pleasure is not cheap). For lovers of dancing, there are disco bars with incendiary music and a wide selection of alcoholic drinks, which, by the way, are open until the last client. Thematic bars, for example, the Cool Eggs bike pub, are also included in a special category. The hall of this establishment is decorated with elements of a biker theme, and here you can meet colorful men in leather jackets.

Here is a short list of the most popular bars in Krasnaya Polyana, starting with the most expensive:

  1. PUBLIQUE Food
  2. Bar-club "360";
  3. Cafe-bar "1 144";
  4. "Cool eggs".

Clubs and nightlife

Nightlife in Krasnaya Polyana is also very diverse. If you still have energy left after active pastime on the peaks, then you should definitely read this section.

Most of the nightclubs here are designed for tourists, but Sochi residents are also not averse to relaxing on the weekends, so basically most clubs start working from Friday at 21:00, although as a rule people come up to 22-23 hours. The price range starts from 500 RUB exclusively for the entrance and ends with a deposit payment for a table (usually 5000 RUB, you can order food and drinks on them). Attention: entry to almost all clubs is free for girls! There is a dress code, although not strict: in a ski suit, of course, you will not be allowed in, but please wear comfortable boots. Here are the TOP 4 nightclubs in Krasnaya Polyana:

  1. Sky Club & Concert Hall;
  2. Nightclub Velvet;
  3. Night club 9.6.0
  4. Starbar.

extreme sports

sky park

This is a unique and must-see place. Even if the snow falls in flakes in the mountains, set aside at least half a day and go exploring at SkyPark. This, please pay attention, is the longest suspension bridge in the world (!) 439 meters long over the beautiful Akhshtyr Gorge with epic views of the Black Sea coast. Below, at a distance of more than 200 meters, the Mzymta River flows, and thanks to the grid structure of the bridge floor, you can see it right under your feet.

But, of course, just walking along the bridge is not limited here. The main feature of the place is bungee jumping in its various manifestations. Bungee jumping from a height of 69 and 207 meters, the largest swing in the world, a climbing trail, and plans for the fastest rope troll through the gorge, a rope park, a children's area and a restaurant with a breathtaking view.

Safety is the main credo of the founder of SkyPark, New Zealander AJ Hackett. This is Hackett's sixth SkyPark, and bungee jumping is run by the most experienced people in the business, many of whom have been hired from other countries. It certainly doesn't feel like anything else. If on this day you got up on the wrong foot, all experiences will be forgotten at the moment when you fall into the abyss and squeal with delight. Positive emotions are guaranteed! As SkyParka employees themselves say, no matter how afraid you are, once you jump, nothing bad will happen to you.

Pleasure, however, is not cheap: the cost of one jump is from 5,000 to 9,000 RUB, depending on the attraction.

How to get there: if you get on your own - every even hour there is a transfer from bus stop No. 105 or 135 "Trout Farm".

How to move around the city

In general, if you are not in a hurry, the best way to get around Krasnaya Polyana is on foot. The distances here are small, and if you live on a plain, then you can forget about transport at all (except for lifts, of course). If you are staying in the mountains, then getting there is of course much more difficult, and in this case I recommend renting a car, unless, of course, you already have your own!

There are 4 city routes in Krasnaya Polyana: No. 105, 105s, 105k and 63. Travel from Krasnaya Polyana costs 39 RUB, from Esto-Sadok 19, and from Gazprom to Rosa Khutor 10 RUB.

There are also free ski buses "Pasechnik" and go from the railway stations and stops of the village of Krasnaya Polyana. These buses start running at 7 am every hour.

Taxi. What features exist

I do not recommend ordering a taxi in Krasnaya Polyana, and here's why. Due to the short distance, taxi drivers do not use a meter to drive around the village, but apply a fixed tariff - 250 rubles per trip. This is the minimum, prices may be higher. For those who still prefer this type of transport, I can advise Uber taxis, or Mercy taxis as the most inexpensive ones. It is better to call a car in advance by phone, as drivers on the spot inflate prices.

Transport rental

You can rent a car both in Adler and in the village of Krasnaya Polyana. There are a lot of local companies offering their services for you to choose from. The rental price is from 1000 RUB per day, it is also necessary to leave a deposit, the amount of which starts from 5000 RUB. You can compare prices from different distributors.

Documents that are required to rent a car: passport and driver's license. There are also territorial restrictions - the car is provided for rent on the territory of the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Adygea. You can also order a car with a driver, but the price will be completely different - from 7000 RUB / day.

Krasnaya Polyana - holidays with children

Take your children to Krasnaya Polyana at any time of the year, but in winter I strongly do not recommend it. This applies to small children under 3 years of age. By my own example, I can say that you are only tormented. Children will freeze (wind in the mountains, oh-oh), there is actually no way to warm up, because you can’t sit in a cafe for a long time with a small child, he will still be drawn to the street. And I don’t see the point in coming for 2-3 hours - it’s a painfully long way.

It’s beautiful after three with children in Polyana in winter - professional instructors are already working with them (there are more than enough of them here), and you can safely enjoy your vacation.

The cost of an hour individual lesson starts from 2000 RUB. At Gazprom and Gornaya Karusel, prices are about the same, but at Rosa Khutor, in general, a little lower, and two are taught at the same price as one, and as many as four schools operate on Rosa, so there are plenty to choose from. As for the instructors, they are mostly experienced skiers and snowboarders, many of whom come to ride and work in schools for the season. There are also private instructors. If you want to save money, you can contact them. They usually offer their services themselves, or you can join an existing group.

Ski holidays

Ski resorts in the resort 4:

  1. "Gazprom",
  2. Alpika-Service,
  3. "Mountain Carousel",
  4. "Rosa Khutor".

At the moment, unfortunately, there is no single ski-pass in Polyana, so visiting each complex must be paid separately, I will tell you about the cost later.

Ski passes

Gazprom (Laura)

Ski passes can be bought at the box office at the lower lines of the Alpika-Service and GTZ Gazprom stations, as well as on the resort's website. It makes sense to buy in advance if you understand exactly which of the three complexes you will ride.

Ski-pass price for the 2016-2017 season: from 1000 RUB for adults, from 400 RUB for children. There are also season tickets "All Season", "Weekend Season", and so on, their cost starts from 26,000 for adults, and 13,000 for children. Children's fares are valid for children from 7 to 17 years old inclusive; children under 7 years old are provided with tickets free of charge (upon presentation of a supporting document - a birth certificate). You can also save money on this, since in the remaining two complexes, skiing for children is free only up to 6 years.

There are also preferential rates (upon presentation of a supporting document), they are valid in all three complexes for:

  • people over 65;
  • disabled people of group I and disabled children under the age of 18 inclusive;
  • invalids of II and III groups;
  • accompanying disabled people of group I and disabled children under the age of 18 inclusive - 1 person (subject to the simultaneous purchase of a ticket for cable car services for a disabled person of group I or a disabled child under the age of 18, respectively).

The cost of a reduced fare is equal to the cost of a child ticket.

Alpika-Service

Temporarily not working.

Mountain Carousel

Ski-pass price for the 2016-2017 season: from 1300 RUB for adults, from 900 RUB for children. Subscription prices start from 28800 for adults and 14400 for children.

In this complex there are discounts for students on the purchase of a one-day ski pass in the high season (from 01/01/17 to 04/01/17) (upon presentation of a student ID).

Rosa Khutor

Rosa Khutor has different types of ski passes: daily, family, seasonal, and also for one or more days. When purchasing any ski pass, except for the sightseeing and preferential ones, you must also buy a plastic card for 100 RUB. The card is non-refundable, but it can be used in the future. In theory, the card should last for 3 years, if you do not break or lose it.

Ski passes can be bought at the resort ticket office.

Ski-pass price for the 2016–2017 season: from 1400 RUB for adults, from 1000 RUB for children. Subscription for adults from 35500, for children 13500.

Tracks

Gazprom

The resort is located on the slopes of the Psekhako ridge, at the foot of which are the valleys of the Achipse and Laura rivers, therefore its other name is Laura. The complex has more than 25 ski slopes of varying difficulty - blue for the average level and black for professionals, a cable car, a ski and biathlon complex and hotel business facilities. On weekends, there are evening skiing (until 11 p.m.) on illuminated slopes.

In my opinion, there is a small drawback with the pistes on Gazprom - they are all wide at the beginning, they are very narrow towards the end. By the middle of the day, high hillocks quickly break up here, which not everyone can overcome comfortably. As a result, the speed of the riders slows down a lot, they often fall, and this leads to traffic jams and dangerous (health) situations.

As for how to get to the slopes, it is very convenient to do it on the Sky Bus bus, which appeared in the 2015-2016 season, they run between Sochi airport, with stops at each of the Krasnaya Polyana ski resorts, though only in the winter season.

Departure every hour, first flight at 10:00, last at 21:00.

Stops: three in Esto-Sadka (Gorki Gorod) - Marriott Hotel, Gorki Gorod Shopping and Entertainment Center, Gorki Gorod ski lift ticket offices. One at Gazprom - stop Laura, and three at the Rosa Khutor resort - the HelioPark hotel, the Park Inn hotel and the Radisson Rosa Khutor hotel.

The cost for an adult is 350, for a child 170 RUB, for three 850, for four 1100 RUB.

mountain carousel

The resort consists of 3 stages of a modern gondola lift, as well as several ski areas: the Main Zone, Circus-2, Circus-3 and the Eastern Sector. The skiing itself starts from the 2nd stage (for everyone, with an excellent training slope) and above. For example, the third stage is only for trained riders, riding here can be dangerous due to sharp turns, narrow tracks in places, and rocks.

After mid-May, when the ski season officially ends, Gorka Gorod guests are offered numerous entertainments, as the resort is year-round: cycling and horseback riding, tourist mountaineering, ecological and topographic tours, helicopter excursions, spa and yoga sessions, and so on.

Rosa Khutor

It is rightfully considered the main resort of the village, especially after the 2014 Olympic Games in skiing, snowboarding and freestyle.

The territory of the complex is huge and it can receive 10,000 visitors daily, so the status of the largest ski resort in Russia is not unfounded. There are about 20 ski lifts and almost 80 km of pistes of varying difficulty, from green for beginners to black for professionals. And while all the tracks and lifts are open, Rosa Khutor overtakes its neighbors in this category.

As soon as there is a threat of avalanches, the upper slopes of the Rosa Khutor resort are closed. On such days, the 77 kilometers of trails promised can be divided in half.

So, in my humble opinion, for athletes of any level, from beginner to professional, the variety of trails at all three resorts in Krasnaya Polyana will be enough to drive you unconscious.

.

Have something to add?

The city of Sochi is well known not only in Russia, but also far beyond its borders. Picturesque places not spoiled by industrial enterprises, the unique proximity of the sea and mountains make it the best place not only for recreation, but also for practicing sports such as mountaineering, skiing, diving, freestyle and others.

(Krasnaya Polyana is their pearl) - this is, first of all, nature, and only then museums, an arboretum, architecture and other objects of historical value.

Krasnopolyansky District

The Krasnopolyansky district, located in the Adler region, includes several villages located nearby. More than 5,000 people live in this territory, most of which are Russians, Greeks and Estonians.

The district includes various villages.

  • Esto-Sadok - a population of about 900 people.
  • Medoveevka, where only 118 people live.
  • The village of Kepsha with a population of 316 people.
  • Chvizhepse is the smallest settlement in the district - only 60 people.
  • Krasnaya Polyana is inhabited by more than 4,500 people.

The village of Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi), whose sights are associated with the tourism business, became the venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics. The virgin nature of this district attracts not only athletes, but also ecotourists. The main activity of the residents of the village and nearby villages is serving tourists and athletes.

Hotels in Krasnaya Polyana

A fertile place for tourism is Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi). Attractions (reviews from travelers confirm this) of this district will leave satisfied the most demanding and experienced tourists. It has everything for a good holiday: the sea, mountains, clean air, excellent service, cozy hotels and recreation centers.

The settlement arose on the site of the old Abkhaz settlements in 1869, and in 1878 more than 30 Greek families who fled from the Turkish invaders moved into it. Today it is a tourist center where people from all over the world have a rest.

Hotels are also peculiar sights of Sochi. Krasnaya Polyana is no exception. Here you can find accommodation for every taste, whim and wallet. For example, the Grand Hotel Polyana, the recreation complex Belarus, the Peak Hotel and other bases offer customers excellent service, comfortable rooms, Turkish baths and saunas, professional massage, billiards, swimming pools and many other entertainments.

Many tourist bases are located in nearby villages, for example, in Esto-Sadok, which is part of the Krasnaya Polyana district (Sochi). Sights (photos show this) include not only ski slopes, restaurants and bars, but also the ruins of the ancient Achipse fortress (7th century), the largest apiary in the area, Mountain Garden, where you can taste fresh honey, and a smaller copy of the Cheops pyramid. Made of wood, this pyramid is a tool to study the effect of its shape on water, people and metals. Anyone can freely enter it and become part of the experiment.

Trinity-Georgievsky Monastery

The Trinity-Georgievsky Convent belongs to the category of "new sights of Sochi". Krasnaya Polyana can be proud of its appearance on its land, since there are only 3 churches in Russia where you can pray for dead suicides and unbaptized people.

The monastery was built surrounded by mountains in a very picturesque place on the territory of a closed recreation center. In a clearing around a small pond, there are 4 temples of amazing beauty and residential buildings for nuns and pilgrims.

Monastic churches protect the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and particles of the saints of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and St. Panteleimon, sealed in special capsules.

The Trinity-Georgievsky Monastery was built exclusively with money from donations, and today it accepts all the sick and suffering.

Reservoirs in Krasnaya Polyana

Reservoirs are another attraction of Sochi. Krasnaya Polyana has several unique water sources at once, which are widely known outside the Krasnodar Territory.

Khmelevsky lakes, located at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, are part of the Sochi National Park. Since 2012, convenient walking paths and steps have been equipped on their territory, and thrill-seekers are offered a jeep ride along a serpentine road.

The most beautiful view, convenient places for tourist parking have made Khmielewskie lakes a popular place for ecotourism.

Among the water attractions that the village of Krasnaya Polyana is rich in, mineral springs are especially popular. They are visited by people suffering from infertility and diseases of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and nervous systems.

Multiple cases of healing, especially by the waters flowing near the villages of Matsesta and Kudepsta, attract those who want to improve their health all year round.

The Brothers waterfall usually has a mesmerizing effect on tourists. Two powerful streams from which it is formed fall from the height of Mount Achishkho, 2000 meters above sea level.

If Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi) is chosen for ecotourism, the attractions in summer in this region are its lakes and springs. For lovers of hiking, hiking trips are organized, during which you can enjoy both beautiful views and the cleanest air, as well as the flora and fauna of these places.

Ski resorts

The pride of Krasnaya Polyana is its ski slopes of international level and hotels with high-level service.

The bases serving tourists are divided into categories, so each client can choose a place to stay in economy, standard or VIP class in advance. The ski slopes meet all world-class standards, which puts them on a par with the famous ski resorts of European countries.

Alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh and freestyle competitions are held here, but this does not deter those who decide to ski for the first time. Experienced instructors will teach you how to confidently walk and descend from the mountains. The famous Olympic ski slopes - that's what Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi) can boast of. Attractions in winter are, among other things, paths of various levels of difficulty, which attracts winter sports enthusiasts from all over the country and from abroad.

Dolmens

Not far from the village of Krasnaya Polyana there are mysterious ancient dolmens, the true purpose of which is still unknown to scientists. These stone structures made of heavy monolithic slabs are over 4,000 years old and today they are considered the best preserved in the country.

Krasnopolyansk dolmens have ground-level entrances, they are small in size and more like tombs. Since dolmens were found at the foot, scientists suggest that there are many more of them, just other objects are still covered with earth and stones due to mountain landslides.

You can get to these places either by jeep or on foot (about an hour).

Rybino

For lovers of fishing and delicious healthy food, the Rybino complex was built about 20 years ago, located in a remote place among 3 lakes. To get to this fish paradise, you should either travel on off-road vehicles yourself, or call them from the complex.

Your efforts will not seem in vain. Excellent fishing for carp and carp makes even a beginner feel like an experienced fisherman. From the caught fish, local chefs will immediately prepare a delicious dinner, and while it is being prepared, customers can relax and take a steam bath in a real Russian bath.

For children, a visit to the local small zoo will be a real adventure, where you can pet and feed the animals.

Holidays in Krasnaya Polyana can be so varied that even "experienced" travelers speak of this area as a place where dreams of the most exciting adventures come true. For this, Krasnaya Polyana has everything you need.

cable car

What other sights does Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi) represent? reveals a lot of interesting things. On it you can climb up to 2100 meters.

It is a link between the Alpika Service, Rosa Khutor complexes and the Gornaya Karusel ski resort. The new cable car branches, built recently, will be able to deliver skiers to the peak of the Black Pyramid.

In order for the resort to function year-round, a factory was built that produces ice for mountain slopes.

Krasnaya Polyana after the Olympic Games

Today, Krasnaya Polyana is a ski resort well advertised thanks to the Olympics, which attracts winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world. A large number of attractions, both natural and man-made, will impress any traveler. There is everything for a great holiday: the sea, mountains, lakes, rivers, healing springs, clean air, favorable climate and excellent service.

This area has every reason to become a world-class resort.

In 1817, the Caucasian War began, which ended only in 1864. The result of it was that the families of the Circassians who survived after the war were expelled to Turkey, and on the site of the village of Kbaade they founded the Russian settlement of Romanovsk, but the Russians could not survive in these harsh places and left them. Almost ten years passed before the Greek settlers learned about the abandoned lands. Having mastered unfamiliar places, the Greeks, together with Estonian settlers, called them Krasnaya Polyana - red-brown ferns and golden-scarlet maples grew on the plain. Subsequently, the resort area began to be called that, despite the fact that in 1898 the government issued a decree to return the former name "Romanovsk". By the way, the Estonians later settled a little higher up the river, and the village was called "Estonian Garden" (today Esto-Sadok).

In the same 1898, the development of the Black Sea coast began, as a result of which the Krasnopolyansk lands were also studied. So, it was decided to make a number of reforms in the mountainous region. Romanovsk was connected by a road to the Black Sea coast, although this did not make Krasnaya Polyana fully accessible - in the winter season, its inhabitants remained isolated from the "mainland".

At the beginning of the last century, Krasnaya Polyana was represented by only one street with Greek houses, shops and a small church. Just at that time, the rapid development of the resort area began: the first hotels, telegraph, post office, several coffee houses and a tavern appeared. Representatives of the Russian intelligentsia, such as Count Sheremetiev, singer Leonid Sobinov, botanist Vikenty Khmelevsky, medical colonel Dmitry Tchaikovsky and others, began to settle in the territory. An imperial house was even built on the slope of the Achishko ridge, but the revolution in the country prevented it from being put into operation.

During the Soviet period, the lands of Romanovsk became a collective farm, and in 1920 the name "Krasnaya Polyana" was returned to it. During this period, a nursery was organized here, in which bees were bred (today it belongs to the Research Institute of Beekeeping at the RASN). The government intended to turn the resort into a production for the needs of the Soviet government, but this was not destined to come true, because the Great Patriotic War began, and Krasnaya Polyana became the site of numerous military operations. Soviet soldiers showed considerable heroism, defending the Black Sea coast, and so did not allow the Germans to seize the territory.

The war ended and the resort continued to develop. In 1966, two new tourist bases were built, and on one of the sections of the road that leads to Krasnaya Polyana, an episode of Leonid Gaidai's "Prisoner of the Caucasus" was filmed. But, despite the growing popularity, as before, the resort was visited mainly in the summer, and mainly by backpackers.

A new period in the development of Krasnaya Polyana came after the “collapse of the Union”. In 1992, the transport "heart" of the resort appeared - the Alpika-Service company, and in 1993 the lift began to function - the resort received the status of a ski resort and even became one of the contenders for the Olympic Games.

Climate and weather in Krasnaya Polyana

Krasnaya Polyana is a resort where tourists come at any time of the year, which is facilitated by unique climatic conditions that allow you to relax all year round. The climate is formed by the surrounding mountains and the proximity of the sea, so it can be called mild, temperate, mountain-marine. Favorable weather is distinguished mainly by sunny days in spring, summer, winter and autumn.

winter weather

Even in winter, the sun gives people the opportunity to ski all day long or sunbathe. The average temperature ranges from 0 to -5°C, and almost never drops below -10°C. The coldest month is January and the snowiest month is February. There are practically no blizzards and dampness.

Summer starts from the second mid-May and lasts until September. Except on rare occasions, summers are warm, sunny and windless. The average summer temperature is +24°С +28°С. The heat in the resort is much easier to bear than on the coast, which is explained by the presence of humidity and huge forests that surround the resort from all sides. There can also be showers in summer, but they pass quickly.

Autumn weather

Autumn time is a time of transformation in Krasnaya Polyana: the greenery turns orange, red-brown, copper-purple and golden, which fully reflects the name of the resort, and the air becomes even fresher and cleaner. Autumn weather is generally sunny and warm. The average temperature in autumn is about +15°С (September) and +6°С (November). In November there is a lot of rain and showers.

spring weather

Spring begins around the end of February. In March-April, the snow begins to melt, when heavy wet avalanches can come down. At the end of April, there may still be frosts, lasting, in some cases, until May. The average temperature in spring ranges from +9°С to +13°С. At this time, herbs and flowers, pomegranates, cherries, apple trees, azaleas and magnolias begin to bloom.

Almost the whole year in Krasnaya Polyana there are no winds - the resort is protected from them by the mountains Pseashkho, Chugush, Achishkho and Aibga with a height of 2400 to 3200 meters. It can be said that the Krasnopolyansk climate is similar to the climate of the Swiss mountain resorts. That is why, by the way, Krasnaya Polyana is considered “Russian Switzerland”.

What to see in Krasnaya Polyana

Rest in Krasnaya Polyana should never be left to an aimless pastime. And besides the steep ski slopes, sunbathing on the tops of the mountains, cable cars and other nerve-wracking and enjoyable entertainment, this beautiful resort has something to catch the attention of its guests. In Krasnaya Polyana you will find a considerable number of places of interest that you can and should definitely visit.

Today we will talk about such a beautiful place in our country as the Krasnaya Polyana ski resort. This is a very beautiful object of nature and recreation at any time of the year, among the Caucasian mountains, greenery (in summer), water bodies - a neat town with sports entertainment and gorgeous views.

During the period of preparation (2006-2014) for the Olympic Games held in Sochi, and especially after 2014 (the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games were held in Krasnaya Polyana), Krasnaya Polyana became the most respectable resort, and rightfully so.

We will tell you more about the brightest places in Krasnaya Polyana, about the nuances of relaxation.

“Krasnaya Polyana is an urban-type settlement in the Adler district of the municipality of the resort city of Sochi, Krasnodar Territory. The center of the Krasnopolyansky settlement district.

Despite the fact that Wikipedia refers to Krasnaya Polyana as a village, Krasnaya Polyana is more often understood as a resort of the same name, which includes both the village and a larger part of the Adler district. We will talk about the village and the resort.

There are several versions of why Krasnaya Polyana was called red: for example, settlers descending from the mountains a long time ago accepted the thickets of brown fern gaping in the rays of the sun from a distance beyond the red earth, there is a version that in the rays of the dawn sun the tops of the mountains seemed red to topographers.

This is one of the most beautiful places in our country. Located 45 km from the Black Sea ... In the Adler region, which is part of Sochi. In winter there is white-snow and scorching sun, in summer mountainous nature. In recent years, as noted by local residents and tourists, Krasnaya Polyana has become like a European resort.

“They built towers, hotel complexes, shops, trodden paths everywhere, made tracks ... it got worse, there was almost virgin beautiful nature, which both locals and visitors admired, and today Krasnaya Polyana is just a“ cool ”sports resort,” say those who know this area decades.

And indeed: a beautiful (from a natural point of view) place has several options for its further fate, for example, they make an amusement park, walks out of it, and, of course, it loses its original natural appearance, becomes well-worn, trampled, another option is to remain as before. beautiful, untouched, but closed to people. Wherever a man's foot steps, he spoils a lot, but at the same time, isn't nature created for man? True, not for someone who burns forests, litters in parks, and behaves worse than animals.

Krasnaya Polyana is one of the few places in our country where it is also clean and tidy, despite the development of infrastructure. The point is not only in the culture of tourists, but in the fact that this is an “object of national importance”, sports events of international importance have been and are being held here - the Olympic, Paralympic Games, World Cups, etc. In this connection, the workers of the complexes and the resort actively monitor cleanliness and order.

The village of Krasnaya Polyana is surrounded by mountains, located at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, there are several rivers nearby. Here is an ideal place for extreme sports, competitions, admiring the mountains, rivers from the height of cable cars, etc.

Georgaffia of the village:

“Krasnaya Polyana is located in the middle reaches of the Mzymta River, 39 km from the Black Sea coast at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level. The village is surrounded on all sides by high mountains: from the west by Mount Achishkho and its spurs, from the east by the Aibga ridge. The watershed of the Main Caucasian Range runs 15 km north of Krasnaya Polyana.

The village occupies a vast terrace, which is a slightly inclined area in the form of a triangle, with its top resting against the spurs of Mount Achishkho, and its base resting on the right (orographically) bank of the Mzymta River. During the ice age, on the site of the village was the lower extremity of a powerful glacier, traces of which are found everywhere in the form of huge boulders and furrows on the rocks of the mountains surrounding the valley.

The settlement is connected with Adler and the airport of Sochi by a modern combined road and railroad. There is a heliport. There is an internal bus route 63 "Rosa Khutor-Heliport". The village is connected with the Central District of Greater Sochi by buses 105 and 105s and an electric train, bus routes 105, 105s and 135 and an electric train are connected with the Adler district.

On the territory of the village (population - about 4.7 thousand people) there are several ski resorts.

For example, Rosa Khutor is one of the brightest. Not only does it have a beautiful name, it is also a beautiful area and the largest ski resort in Russia. Nine kilometers of slopes and five lifts, in 2012 the first Alpine Skiing World Cup in the history of Russia was held here.

Hotel complexes were built using the "eco construction" technology: “compliance by developers with environmental standards and regulations in force on the territory of the Russian Federation, the use of environmentally friendly and certified building technologies and materials, the introduction, along with traditional, alternative energy sources, and the implementation of environmental measures on the territory of the Sochi National Park.”

In Krasnaya Polyana (resort and village) the most striking sights are:

The cave is located in the Akhshtyrsky gorge above the Mzymta river in the Adler district of the city, the entrance to the cave is 120 meters above the river level.

There is an observation deck next to the cave, which offers a gorgeous view of the Mzymta River.
