The serious attitude of the Italian authorities to tourism already predetermines not only good, but also in the mountains.

Forget about Eastern Europe and even Andorra: for a small amount of money spent on purchasing a ticket to an Italian resort, you will get a lot of impressions and pleasant memories. The stunning beauty of the landscapes will not leave anyone indifferent. You can choose exactly the ski area that you think suits you best. And there are plenty to choose from: 12 zones that cover areas of thousands of kilometers.

We picked top ten ski resorts in Italy, which are worth your attention, and also calculated the approximate cost of rest on each of them.

The slopes here are designed for both beginner skiers and intermediate skiers. And seekers of extreme sports and adventures can get to the slopes of Mount Ponte di Legno (Ponte di Legno).

There are two schools in Passo Tonale where polite instructors teach skiing and snowboarding in English. The resort is usually quiet, life and fun come here during the holidays and weekends.

Alagna-Valsesia for professionals

The picturesque village of Alagna Valsesia, with a stone church and small farm buildings, is located in the huge ski area of Monterosa. The ski slopes located nearby are sure to please professional skiers and snowboarders: exciting slopes with many challenging tasks will not let anyone get bored. This place is not suitable for those who have only recently learned or are still learning to ski. It's also not a place for nightlife lovers: The lights here go out almost immediately after dinner.. If you are planning a large-scale rental tomorrow, then you just need to get a good night's sleep.

There are only 15 kilometers of slopes in Alanya, but the village is connected to the nearby resorts of Gressoney and Champoluc, which offer tourists tens of kilometers of slopes. Breuil-Cervinia for lovers of a safe holiday

(Breuil-Cervinia) - This resort, spread out at a great height, boasts the driest snow, which lies here from December to May. Cervinia provides tourists with more than 150 kilometers of descent.

Cable cars connect this resort with the International Descent, the total length of which is 360 kilometers.

We have to admit that Cervinia is far from the most beautiful Italian resort: there are often ugly buildings that spoil the whole view. However, this place has no equal when it comes to sports entertainment. Numerous races of skiers and snowboarders of different skill levels are constantly held here. Sometimes it seems that they ride here without stopping for lunch and sleep. In Cervinia, there is the famous red descent Ventina (Ventina) with a height of 4000 meters.
Where to stay
With the true hospitality of the inhabitants of the mountains, you will come across if you go to rest in the four-star Bucaneve hotel. Cortina d'Ampezzo for romantics

The city of Cortina d'Ampezzo lies surrounded by mountains and on one of them, as well as in a chain of churches built many centuries ago. Despite the fact that Cortina d'Ampezzo remained occupied for centuries by foreign invaders, including the Austrians and Americans in 1945, the city managed to maintain its unique atmosphere that reigns here to this day in every corner.

While the inhabitants of neighboring towns speak German as well, the people of Cortina prefer to communicate in the ancient Ladin language.

In Cortina you will find many slopes for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. All of them are divided into several zones, between which the bus runs. In the village itself, despite the fact that it is the center of the resort, all life does not revolve around mountains, snow, skis and snowboards. The main pedestrian street Corso Italia is home to numerous fashion designer boutiques and antique shops.

As dusk falls, Cortina comes to life. On the streets of the city, there is almost a real parade of fur coats and other fur products, and closer to the night, all the owners of warm clothes move to nearby bars and restaurants, where they discuss the day over a glass of fine wine.
In 1956, Cortina hosted the Winter Olympics, so there is no doubt about the quality of the slopes and equipment. However, in recent years, the resort authorities do not deny the fact that Cortina's funding has dropped significantly. But this does not bother the inhabitants of Rome and Milan, who invariably go skiing here.
Where to stay
The 4-star Ancora Hotel, with its stunning interior, has been attracting tourists for over four decades thanks to its very convenient location. In addition, here is the most amazing restaurant in the area. Seven days in one of the Ancora rooms will cost you about 1120 euros.

  • Snow cover 50%.

Sauze d'Oulx for party goers

Since the beginning of the 1970-80s of the last century (Sauze d'Oulx) has had the glory of a ski resort, where parties play a greater role than sports. Until noon in this district you would not meet a single soul on the downhill slopes. The charming village has gone through several global changes, but, fortunately, has not lost its special "party" atmosphere. In the city center, houses of the last century were pushed aside by modern buildings in the Art Nouveau style. It is here that the life of Sauze d'Houl is in full swing. The more you move away from the main streets, the denser the silence envelops you.

But despite all this, the Sauze d'Ouls boasts some of the best slopes in Italy. They extend all the way to the resorts of Sansicario, Sestriere and French Montgenevre. The total length of the slopes is about 400 kilometers, which are served by 66 lifts.

At the intersection of these numerous slopes, there is a whole scattering of restaurants, hotels and other entertainment establishments. To dine here you do not need to have a fortune - the prices in this area are very affordable. Many bars often have live music, so you can enjoy a glass of wine and stunning scenery outside the window to the sounds of light jazz.
Where to stay
It is worth noting that most of the hotels in Sauze d'Oulse do not deserve special attention, but it is still worth highlighting the three-star Chalet Faure & Spa Hotel - an old house converted into an excellent hotel with a spa and its own wine bar. A week of accommodation in one of the rooms will cost you from 770 euros.
Other options
Villages (Madonna di Campiglio) and Cortina d'Amprezzo in the Dolomites offer their guests a richer and more vibrant nightlife.

  • The resort is located at an altitude of 1510 meters;
  • The height of the slopes is from 1390 to 2825 meters;
  • 400 kilometers of slopes, 25% blue, 55% red, 20% black;
  • Snow cover 60%.

Champoluc for holidays with family and children

The Monterosa mountain range is not as popular as it deserves. The lovely village of Champoluc has a typical Italian atmosphere: stunning scenery, cozy bars and cafes, no queues in shops or on the road. What's more, there is a wonderful English skiing school where the instructors speak several languages. These are highly qualified specialists from Italy and England, ready to train everyone from young (from 4 years old) to old.

A special advantage of this resort is the babysitting service. As a rule, Italians go on vacation with the whole family, leaving not only children, but also their parents at home, so there is always someone to look after the younger generation. However, if you decide to relax only with children and give your parents the opportunity to take a break from you in their homeland, then you definitely should take care of the leisure of your kids. And the Italian ski school Scuola Sci Champoluc will do it for you.

Where to stay
The 4-star Relais des Glaciers boasts an excellent spa and an excellent location, just a seven-minute walk from the village's main square. Friendly service staff will be happy to help you, as well as tasty food for you and your children. A week of rest here will cost you about 1000 euros.
Other options
Gressoney and Selva also provide babysitting service
Key Facts
  • The resort is located at an altitude of 1570 meters;
  • The height of the slopes is from 1200 to 3275 meters;
  • The slopes are 73 kilometers long, 17% blue, 72% red, 11% black;
  • Snow coverage 97%.

Livigno for lovers of silence

(Livigno) is one of the most remote ski resorts in Europe. The road here from Innsbruck will take at least an hour, and from Milan airports about 3-4 hours. However, the long trip to Livigno is worth it because of the well-equipped pistes, low prices and safe snow cover.

The village is located 10 kilometers from a mountain road that ends at the foot of a 1816-meter mountain called Little Tibet, located near the border with Switzerland. Numerous slopes originate here, from which stunning views open up. Every year, new lifts and slopes appear in Livigno, new hotels open. To date, trails of medium difficulty prevail here.

It is also worth noting that in December Livigno hosts a traditional ski marathon (35 kilometers). In addition to the numerous advantages of this resort, it is worth highlighting the fact that it is duty free. It seems that prices have frozen at the level of Napoleon's times. Often a bottle of milk is harder to find here than a case of whiskey.

Madesimo for connoisseurs of beauty

Courmayeur for the weekend

Of course, when choosing a resort where you could drop by for the weekend, it is of great importance that there is an airport nearby, from where you can easily and quickly get there.

How to get to the north of Italy

Since all ski resorts are located in northern Italy, the most rational option would be to fly to Milan or Turin.

  • See instructions:

Rest in can be combined with shopping and in a few days go skiing or skiing. Have a great descent!

↘️🇮🇹 USEFUL ARTICLES AND SITES 🇮🇹↙️ SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS

It is hardly possible to imagine Italy without mountains. And in Northern, and in Southern, and in Central Italy, and in Sicily, and in Sardinia - there are mountains everywhere. Unless in the vastness of the Padana Plain, the proximity of the mountains is almost imperceptible. In all other cases, you are either already in the mountains, or somewhere nearby.

Features of the relief are directly related to the tourism industry. Italy is famous for its ski resorts no less than Austria or Switzerland. It is understandable - the Alps are common.

Perhaps, it is in the Alps that the best Italian resorts are located, so attractive for lovers of skiing. However, the Alps are not all of Italy. Speaking of ski tourism in Italy, we should not forget about the Apennines. And therefore, further we will pay attention not only to the Alpine, but also to the Apennine resorts.

So let's look at the following areas:

Ski resorts in the Italian Alps

It is convenient to get to the Alps just through the cities listed above (all kinds of air travel options can be found on sites such as www.skyscanner.ru, www.aviasales.ru, etc.). Genoa should be added to this list, from where it is not far from the resorts located in the southwestern part of the Alps, and where it is also convenient to get directly (not only by air, but also by rail; more about trains). You can also mention, for example, Austrian Innsbruck, Swiss Geneva or French Nice. All these cities are located in close proximity to many Italian ski resorts.

Having reached any of the above cities, it makes sense to rent a car (see www.rentalcars.com, www.economybookings.com and other similar sites), since you can do it right at the airport, or order a transfer - again, directly from the airport to the destination (see, for example,). As for public transport, this is usually not the most convenient way to get to the Alps, especially if you bring your own ski equipment. However, even here there are some possibilities (they will be discussed below - in each specific case separately).

Now it is reasonable to ask where exactly you can go in the Italian Alps to go skiing or snowboarding?

Options, as you might guess, a huge number. Therefore, in order not to turn this review into an endless enumeration, we will again focus on cities through which it is convenient to get to certain mountainous regions, while moving from east to west.

There are many ski resorts near Venice. The first thing that comes to mind is Cortina d'Ampezzo(Cortina d'Ampezzo), which has the reputation of one of the most fashionable winter resorts in Italy. In terms of skiing, the place is also good - both for beginners and experienced skiers. If you drive from Venice by car, the road to Cortina will take about two hours (about 160 km). Regarding public transport routes, detailed information can be found on the website of the Venice airport (see).

Not far from Cortina, it is also worth paying attention to such places as Kronplatz(Kronplatz - Plan de Corones), Arabba(Arabba) and region Alta Badia(Alta Badia). Right next to and Val Gardena(Val Gardena), And Val di Fassa(Val di Fassa) and many other wonderful places. And all this diversity is available within a single ski pass, since all of the listed regions are part of the Dolomiti Superski super-region (a lot of useful information about this area can be found on the website dolomitisuperski.ru). Moreover, if Cortina and Kronplatz are, as it were, on the sidelines, then Arabba, Alta Badia, Val Gardena and Val di Fassa are actually one huge mountain range, between the resorts and slopes of which you can literally move without taking off your skis. In addition, it is here that the famous ski route Sella Ronda (Sella Ronda) with a length of about 40 km is located. True, it should be taken more as a walking route: there are no steep slopes or breathtaking turns here, but the views are amazing. Dolomites - they are.

Another point that cannot be ignored is the following: the same Val Gardena and Alta Badia are closer to Innsbruck than to Venice. Therefore, if you are interested in these places, then do not lose sight of the opportunity to get here through Austria. Cortina d'Ampezzo, in turn, is located at approximately the same distance from Venice and from Innsbruck. A little closer to Venice - San Martino di Castrozza(San Martino di Castrorzza) And Civetta(Civetta). Both resorts are also part of Dolomiti Superski, but exist somewhat apart. Finally, even closer to Venice are places such as Nevegal(Nevegal) which is next to Belluno, and Monte Avena - Croce d "Aune(Monte Avena - Croce d "Aune), not far from Feltre, but from the point of view of skiing, they are not at all as interesting as the regions discussed above.

Through Verona, as well as through Venice with Innsbruck, it is convenient to go to resorts in the Italian Dolomites. Of the Dolomiti Superski regions, the closest to Verona are the valleys Val di Fiemme(Val di Fiemme) And Val di Fassa(Val di Fassa). So, for example, before Predazzo(Predazzo) And Canazei(Canazei) By car, you can get there in about two hours. Val Gardena(Val Gardena) also nearby.

However, all these places have already been mentioned above. Let's not repeat ourselves. Not far from Verona, there are other equally interesting options.

In particular, it is impossible not to pay attention to such resorts as Pinzolo(Pinzolo) And Madonna di Campiglio(Madonna di Campiglio). They are again within a two-hour drive from Verona, and form a single well-equipped complex of ski slopes suitable for both children and adults, beginners and pros alike.

It is worth mentioning also Andalo(Andalo) which is next to Trento. It's even closer - about an hour and a half drive. It is also easy to get here by public transport, as there is a direct train connection between Verona and Trento (see www.trenitalia.com) and there are regular buses from Trento to Andalo (Linea 611, see www.ttesercizio.it).

In general, there are many winter resorts in the vicinity of Verona - there are places for every taste. For example, a large complex Adamello Ski(Adamello Ski), which includes both ski slopes of varying degrees of difficulty, and cross-country skiing trails. Or small peyot(peio), known not only as a ski resort, but also as a thermal resort. Very close to Verona (about an hour drive) you can find the town Recoare Terme(Recoaro Terme), no less famous for its thermal springs and also not deprived of opportunities for downhill and cross-country skiing.

It makes sense to consider Milan and Bergamo in conjunction - the distance between them is about 50 km. For these same 50 km, Bergamo is closer to the resorts discussed above. For example, from here it is about two hours drive to Adamello Ski(Adamello Ski) And Andalo(Andalo), two and a half hours to Madonna di Campiglio(Madonna di Campiglio), a little longer - until Val Gardena(Val Gardena). In other words, if you are interested in the listed directions, then they are quite accessible through Bergamo, and through Milan, by and large, too. However, do not ignore other ski areas located near Milan and Bergamo.

First of all, let's mention Bormio(Bormio), which is located about a three-hour drive from both Milan and Innsbruck and Verona (a little closer from Bergamo). This place is famous not only as a ski resort, but also as a thermal resort. Nearby is also Livigno(Livigno), no less interesting in terms of riding, and Santa Caterina(Santa Caterina di Valfurva), a quieter and more peaceful resort.

There are excellent ski regions and closer to Milan. We especially note Aosta and the region of the same name Val d'Aosta(Val d'Aosta), including such notorious resorts as Cervinia(Cervinia), Monte Rosa(Monte Rosa), Courmayeur(Courmayeur) and others. These places do not need a special introduction and are very popular among lovers of alpine skiing. And in some places they ride here not only in winter, but also in summer (primarily in Cervinia and neighboring Swiss Zermatt). It is more convenient to get here through Milan's Malpensa airport than through Bergamo's Orio al Serio: the road by car takes about one and a half to two hours. Public transport takes much longer. Perhaps the most convenient option is a direct bus from Milan (see www.savda.it), although you can also get there by rail (with two or three transfers to Aosta).

Finally, let's say a few words about places that often go unnoticed. Within an hour and a half drive from Bergamo, you can find a number of quite interesting resorts. Let's take a look at two areas. First form Foppolo(foppolo), San Simone(San Simone) And Carona(Carona) in the Val Brembana valley. The second includes places like Presolana - Monte Pora(Presolana Monte Pora) And Kohler(Colere) in the Val Seriana valley.

  • General information: about Milan, about Bergamo
  • Flight tickets: to Milan and Bergamo
  • Transfers: ,
  • Car rental points: in Malpensa, at Bergamo airport

Through Turin it is convenient to get to the resorts of the valley discussed above Val d'Aosta(Val d'Aosta). If you go by car, the road takes about an hour and a half - faster than through Milan. Public transport is also faster and somewhat more convenient than via Milan - you can take the bus of the same Savda company (see www.savda.it), or by train with one or two changes (see, as usual, www.trenitalia.com ).

Another direction that should not be overlooked when talking about ski resorts near Turin is the so-called Milky Way(Vialattea, you can often find separate spelling - Via Lattea), a region on the border between Italy and France. Here, attention should be paid in particular to Sestriere(Sestriere), Sauze d "Ulks(aka Sauze d "Oulx, Sauze d" Oulx) And Sansicario(Sansicario) and also in French Montgenevre(Montgenevre). Turin airport is still not far away - an hour and a half drive. In addition, Oulx, which is only five kilometers from the Milky Way, can be quickly reached by train (it takes a little more than an hour to travel from Turin, without transfers).

Finally, you should look to the south, where there is a fairly popular resort called Limone Piemonte(Limone Piemonte). From Turin about an hour and a half by car. You can also get here through Genoa or Nice.

Ski resorts in the Apennines

In continuation of the review of ski resorts in Italy, let's say a few words about the Apennines. The Apennine resorts, of course, are in many ways inferior to the Alpine ones, but they also have their advantages. Say, if you want to go somewhere for a day from Rome or Florence to go skiing and come back the same day, then it is hardly worth going to the Alps. It is both far and expensive. But the Apennines are always at hand. This is where they come in handy.

Ski resorts in Italy are known to fans of winter sports no less than Swiss Courchevel or French St. Moritz. Places like Cervinia, Courmayeur, Bormio or Val di Fassa are on everyone's lips. All these resorts are located on the southern slopes of the Alps. There are, of course, excellent slopes and skiing places in the Apennines, for example, in the mountains of Abruzzo (Prati di Tivo, Monte Piselli), but they work only in the winter season. But the Alpine resorts, due to the high altitude and the presence of glaciers, are available to lovers of skiing, snowboarding, and luge all year round. And everywhere the guests are expected by the notorious Italian hospitality, sunny and snow-covered slopes, tracks of any degree of difficulty and excellent European service.

Which place to choose for vacation

Ski resorts in Italy on the map of the country are divided depending on the administrative provinces. Thus, we can talk about the ski areas of Lombardy, Piedmont, Aosta, Trentino and Alto Adige. Alps are in all of them, but this mountain system is too huge to be monotonous.

The slopes of Lombardy allow you to combine skiing and relaxing on the lakes. The Dolomites surprise tourists with their colors and rocky spurs. And the peaks of Piedmont and Aosta are the most majestic, besides, rest in those places allows you to ride in Swiss resorts.

When choosing a holiday destination, you should not rely on your own level of training. Each resort has at its disposal both steep "black" slopes and "green", gentle slopes for beginners. You should take into account only the time of your vacation (not all places have year-round slopes) and the financial component.

Ski areas in the Aosta Valley

In the triangle that forms the state of Switzerland and Italy, the province of Valle d "Aosta is located. The region is small in territory, but it is here that the oldest, most expensive and best ski resorts in Italy are located. All of them are located at a considerable height, at the foot of never-melting glaciers Around - solid "four-thousanders" - Monte Rosa, Gran Paradiso and Mont Blanc. The latter is the highest peak not only of the Graian Alps, but of the entire mountain system as a whole, as well as the "roof" of Europe.

Mussolini loved skiing here, and with him the entire fascist elite. The first ski lifts were built for them, although the resorts of Courmayeur and Cervinia existed at the dawn of European skiing. The tourist infrastructure of this place continues to develop rapidly - new routes are being laid, new roads are being built. One of them allows you to get directly from the center of the capital - Aosta, founded by the ancient Romans - to the newest fashionable village of Pyla in twenty minutes.

Ski resort Cervinia (Italy)

It is impossible not to mention especially this highest ski area. The highest lift takes tourists to 3899 meters above sea level. The trails are wide and suitable for both beginners and intermediate skiers. Aces can move to the opposite, north side and find themselves in Swiss Zermatt. Returning to the top will not be a problem - there is a single ski pass that connects both resorts and the Italian village of Valtournenche.

Fans of freeride will also get a lot of adrenaline. Here is also the longest ski run of Gran Pista - twenty kilometers of wonderful descent. Of the minuses, one can name only some high cost of the resort (the proximity of Switzerland affects). Therefore, those skiers who are looking for ways to reduce the cost of their holidays stop in the town of Chamonix. From there, buses run to Mount Cervinia (the Swiss name for the Matterhorn). Nearby are other famous ski resorts in Italy: Courmayeur, La Thuile, Gressoney-le-Trinite, Monte Rosa Valley and Champoluc, famous for ski touring lovers.

Skiing in Piedmont

This is the land of reserves, clean lakes and hilly landscapes. Those who like Piedmont will certainly appreciate it. The heart and unofficial ski capital of the region is the town of Sestriere. It is located at an altitude of more than two thousand meters, and therefore there are no problems with snow cover even in warm winters. The lifts stop working in April.

Most of the slopes here are for intermediate skiers. But in the Grande Galaxy region there are suitable entertainments for aces, as well as snowboarders and heli-ski fans. At the service of lovers - about thirteen kilometers of beautiful tracks. Decent Apres-ski is provided by 33 restaurants, a nightclub, a bowling alley, a skating rink, a sports club with saunas and swimming pools. No less popular are other Italian ski resorts in Piedmont: Bardonecchia and Sauze d'Ulsk, Claviere and Cesana.

Ski areas in Lombardy

Proximity to the world's shopping capital Milan and large lakes make this region very popular not only in winter. But if you have chosen Livigno as your holiday destination, you will not need to go to Milan to buy goods. Since this ski resort is also a duty-free zone, and all the shops here are duty-free. But freeride in Livigno is allowed only with a guide - the slopes here are avalanche-prone.

The most prestigious ski resort in Lombardy is Bormio. Italy hosts here international competitions of the highest level in winter sports. The town itself is very ancient and has been known since the first century BC thanks to nine healing thermal springs.

Dolomites

In the Trentino region, you can combine skiing and boarding with visits to iconic places such as Lake Garda, Venice, Verona. The tourist infrastructure here is also very developed. Guests are offered dog sledding and sleigh rides, rock climbing, ice polo. Everyone will find après-ski to their taste: discos, baths, gyms, restaurants and bars will create an atmosphere of an enduring holiday.

Ski resorts in Italy in Trentino are also popular because of the fabulously beautiful nature. One has only to see once how the glare of the setting sun plays on the slopes of the Dolomites - and you will strive here again and again. Val di Fassa is considered the most prestigious resort in this region. More suitable for beginners An ideal family holiday awaits you in Cavalese, Val di Fiemme, Passo Tonale, Vigo di Fassa and other resorts of Trentino.

Alto Adige

This area is also located in the Dolomites. The unsurpassed beauty of these slopes and the riot of colors, the instantaneous transition from the snow-capped peaks to the Limone citrus groves on Lake Garda make this region very attractive. Until the Second World War, this area belonged to Austria, and this fact still affects the appearance of houses, hotels and punctuality in public transport.

What are the ski resorts of Italy in the region of the upper Adige? Reviews mention the Val Gardena ski area. It regularly hosts international freestyle and downhill competitions. The Val Gardena area consists of three resorts - Santa Cristina, Selva and Ortisei, interconnected by free buses and a single ski pass.

Leisure après-ski

In each of the regions mentioned here, the range of services is approximately the same. Somewhere natural hot springs beat, in other places they lure you with dog sledding, snowmobiling, parakiting. In some places, such as, for example, in the Lombard Livigno, a paradise for shopaholics, in others you can easily meet a famous politician or a world star of show business on the ski slopes.

In a word, you can go to Italy to mountain resorts even if you are not skiing at all and are not even going to get on them. There is enough entertainment without them. However, you should not miss the chance to conquer the slope. Moreover, in each of the resorts there are ski schools for both children and adults. Experienced instructors (among them there are Russian speakers) will help you get rid of the phobia of falling once and for all.

Ski resorts in Italy: prices

The proximity of Courchevel and compatriots throwing money around also affects neighboring Courmayeur. However, this applies only to accommodation in hotels and prices in restaurants. The cost of ski passes at different resorts differs from each other depending on the coverage of territories and peaks. For example, in Aosta they cost 111 Є for 3 days and 240 Є for a week, in Piedmont and Lombardy - 180 for 6 days, and lifts in the Dolomites will empty your wallet by 233 Є in a week. More significant difference between high and low seasons (about 5 Є per day).

If you want to visit the famous ski resorts in Italy and not spend a fortune on a trip, book a hotel nearby. Public transport in the country is relatively cheap and punctual. You can also time your holiday to the beginning or end of the ski season.

Surprisingly diverse, but strikingly beautiful everywhere, Italy fascinates and bewitches anyone who happened to be in it for the first time, and makes everyone who has even once visited this country come back again and again. Another reason to return to Italy is the unique thermal resorts of this country, known since ancient Roman times. Spa and wellness centers that have already become familiar in Italy are found in many good hotels, but if you are serious about beauty and health, you should go to Italian thermal springs. Italy has huge ski areas, in particular Dolomiti Superski - one of the largest ski regions in the world (more than 1200 km of slopes). The Aosta Valley is famous for its highest peaks (Italy shares Mont Blanc with France and the Matterhorn with Switzerland), excellent freeride opportunities and rich history. Excursion programs, gourmet restaurants, shopping are a great addition to a ski holiday.

There are quite a lot of resorts in Italy, united by a single ski pass or a common network of lifts. This is very convenient for tourists, but often completely confusing - no one knows where the boundaries between the resorts lie - the slopes are so “densely” equipped and the transition from the magnificent snowfields of one to no less beautiful slopes of another is so easy. All ski resorts in Italy have their own unique atmosphere.

Everything that we admire in Italy - architecture, landscapes, cuisine, traditions - finds its embodiment in the Italian mountains, the Dolomites and the Alps. Each of ski resorts in Italy unique and charming in its own way. In Aosta, you feel the closeness of France and many people speak French, and the dialect that you hear in Gressoney or Alanya is more like German. As a rule, a holiday in Italy is somewhat cheaper than a similar trip to France, Austria or Switzerland (unless you choose the most expensive resorts). It is worth coming to Italy for the sake of the Dolomites - they are rightfully considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world and are among the UNESCO Natural Heritage Sites.

pros:
- As a rule, the resorts are not as busy as most other Alpine ones.
- Very friendly attitude towards tourists of local residents.
- Heli-skiing is officially allowed.
- Huge opportunities for off-piste skiing.
- The price level is somewhat lower than in other ski countries.

Minuses:
- The abundance of sunny days and warm weather often leads to the fact that by the end of the season the snow melts quickly.
- Some resorts do not look very attractive.
- A fairly large number of old lifts, although the oldest are gradually being replaced.
- Some areas of interest for freeride are not available for skiing (off-piste skiing is partially prohibited).
- The night life of the resorts is generally less interesting and intense than in other countries.

Madonna di Campiglio is a fashionable resort where people come not only because of the beautiful long slopes, but also to sunbathe in the winter sun, which is in abundance here, go skating on a huge natural skating rink in the center of the resort, walk through local shops, enjoy Italian cuisine in numerous cafes and restaurants.
