The conditions for the return of train tickets and money for them are governed by the rules for the return of travel documents of Russian Railways from Order No. 473 of the Ministry of Transport.

General principles

  1. The money is returned in the same way that you paid, and the amount depends on how much is left before the train leaves.
  2. If you receive cash for a refund (at the box office at the station, in our office, etc.), then only on the territory of the Russian Federation.

How to return an e-ticket

If you bought a ticket to the site and did not issue it on the Russian Railways letterhead, everything is simple: you can return the ticket from your personal account on the site or from (the link is in the purchase notification letter).

  • If you have completed electronic registration, a refund is possible no later than one hour before the train departs from the initial station of its route (for example, for the Moscow - Kislovodsk train - one hour before departure from Moscow). If the ER is not passed, you can return the unused ticket and issue a refund at any time before the train departs.
  • If there are several tickets in your order, you can return all or some of them.
  • If you need forms of strict reporting for accounting, after returning the ticket, you can download a receipt for various fees (CRC) from the site.

In the near future after the return of the ticket you will receive an SMS and an e-mail with detailed information on the return of money for tickets (amount, term, method of payment) and the necessary links.

Another variant - refund at the Russian Railways ticket office. Regardless of where you bought your ticket, you can return it at the box office at any Russian railway station. At the same time, the ticket can be returned by the one in whose name it is issued; you must have the document for which the ticket was purchased.

If you have an electronic ticket in (classes 1A, 1M, 1I, 1B, 1P, 1E), then you can return only all tickets from the order at the same time.

How much will you lose when returning a ticket

When you return a train ticket, you get less than what you paid for it. 4 components are subtracted:

  1. Part of the cost of the reserved seat. If the train leaves more than 8 hours later, nothing is deducted. If there are from 2 to 8 hours left, you lose 50% of the cost of the reserved seat (the ticket indicates how much it is). Less than 2 hours left before departure (or no more than 1 hour after departure) - the entire cost of the reserved seat is deducted.
  2. Collection of Russian Railways. 203 rubles are deducted from the ticket price. 50 kop. (the amount is valid until 31.12.2019).
  3. The service fee is our commission as the operator of the online ticketing system and is non-refundable.
  4. Commissions of payment systems through which you paid (if there were such commissions).

Example: you return your ticket one day before departure. In this case, you will lose only commissions and fees from paragraphs. 2-4. The rest of the money will be returned back in the same way you paid (for details, see the table above). If the ticket is paper, the day before departure, the refund is made only at the box office at the station, if the ticket is electronic - from the order management page.

When you return the ticket at the box office at the station, you will receive the same amount.

If you miss your train, you have 12 hours to return your ticket.(time is counted from the moment the train departs from the station where you got your ticket). In this case, a refund can be issued only at the Russian Railways ticket office at the station. From the cost of the ticket will be deducted the penalty for the return, the full cost of the reserved seat, all commissions and fees. Linen is refundable. After 12 hours have passed, no money will be returned.

If you couldn't go due to illness or accident, the ticket can be returned within 5 days from the date of departure of the train. A doctor's note will be required. The refund amount is the same as in case of being late.

You can check the details at the Russian Railways help desk or at the railway stations.

Have a nice trip!

Sometimes plans for a trip fall apart already at the preparatory stage for a trip. And the first question that arises in a person who has bought railway tickets is related to the possibility of returning the funds paid for travel documents.
In the article I will talk about what grounds for the return of railway tickets are provided for in the legislation, how to return the money paid for them and within what time frame.

○ What does the law say?

Regulations that will help you find the necessary answers to questions that arise with the return of tickets:

  • Transportation Rules No. 473, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, is the main document describing the grounds and procedure for the return of passenger and baggage railway tickets.
  • Rules for the provision of services in the field of railway transportation No. 111.
  • Charter of railway transport.
  • The Law on Consumer Rights Protection is an act designed to regulate relations in the field of railway transportation between carriers and passengers.

As stated in the above acts, passengers have the right to return unused tickets. The amount to be refunded will be calculated depending on the time remaining before the departure of the train.

Basic principles of return:

  • Money is returned in the same way as they are listed for the ticket.
  • The amount of the refund depends on how much time is left before the transport is sent.
  • There is a fee for returns.

○ When can train tickets be returned?

Grounds for return railway tickets:

  • Train delay or cancellation – the passenger can fully refund the fare or reissue the travel document for a more convenient flight.
  • Termination of the train - money is returned for the distance not traveled.
  • Refusal of the passenger from the trip before the departure of the transport - the money is not returned in full.
  • Late for transport within 12 hours after its departure or other good reasons for not using the ticket.
  • Removal of a passenger from the train due to his illness - the money is returned for the distance not covered.

Which tickets can be returned?

Regardless of the distance, you can return:

  • Electronic tickets - through the website or railway ticket office.
  • Paper tickets - through any railway ticket office with an identity card and the ticket itself.
  • Subscription travel cards for suburban transport are returned to the ticket office (the passenger writes a written application to refuse the travel document).

When ordering several tickets, it is allowed to return all or only part of them. The only exceptions are "luxury" seats on trains. long distance– if you have purchased 2 tickets in the same compartment, you cannot return one of them. Also, sometimes on railway transport there are temporary restrictions on returns. You can find out about them on the official page of Russian Railways or private carriers.

○ Can e-tickets be returned before paper versions are received?

E-tickets are returned through the online page of Russian Railways or through the website where the ticket was ordered. To do this, open your profile, go to the "My Orders" section, select desired document and click the "Return" button.

Money is returned within 7-30 days to a bank card. Please note that a commission is always charged for the return of tickets at the initiative of the passenger.

○ How are tickets paid out?

If the passenger returns the ticket to the railway ticket office, the money will be refunded on the spot. This rule applies only to those who purchased a ticket for cash.

As for payment through a terminal or through a card via the Internet, paragraph 83 of Regulation No. 473 says:

“Refunds for an unused travel document (ticket) issued by bank transfer (or in cash for organized groups of passengers) or using a payment card are made to the bank account of the legal entity or individual who paid for the travel document (ticket).”

Thus, it will also not work to return a large amount of money paid for the travel of a group of people through the cash desk. The return period is set by the bank. It is 7-30 days.

Money is usually returned to an electronic wallet longer - from 10 days to 2 months.

With a claim return procedure, money can be expected for a very long time - up to 210 days, this is due to the fact that six months are allotted for consideration of the claim, plus a month for the transfer of funds by the bank.

Money for a subscription pass is returned within 10 days from the date of preparation of an application for its return.

○ Can I return my ticket after the train has left?

Yes. To do this, you need to contact the return office located at the place of your departure. You can substantiate your claims by the provision of paragraph 87 of Regulation No. 473:

“The passenger has the right to receive the cost of a ticket without the cost of a reserved seat, a service fee (if any) and other payments (with the exception of a fee for reserving seats on long-distance trains):

  • When returning an unused travel document (ticket) for a long-distance train to the ticket office of the passenger boarding station if the train is late for 12 hours from the moment of its departure.
  • When returning an unused travel document (ticket) to the ticket office of the passenger boarding station due to illness or accident within 5 days from the departure of the train for which the travel document (ticket) was purchased.

Thus, after the departure of the railway transport, you can return the money, however, not in full. The term "reserved seat" mentioned in the article refers to the fee for using the carriage and is 30-60% of the ticket price. In case of non-use of the ticket due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, documentary evidence of this fact must be presented. For example, a doctor's note.

○ Return before train departure.

The easiest option is to return the ticket on time long before the trip. This will save you more money on returns.

Let's consider in what period tickets should be returned and how much money can be returned.

Russian routes.

You can return the full cost of the ticket (except for the refund fee) by:

“When returning an unused travel document (ticket) to the ticket office no later than 8 hours before the train departure.
When returning to the carrier an unused travel document (ticket) purchased for travel as part of an organized group of passengers, no later than 7 days before the departure of the train ”(clause 85 of Rules No. 473).

Refunds for the purchase of a ticket (except for half the price of a reserved seat and a commission fee) can be:

“When returning an unused travel document (ticket) to the ticket office less than 8 hours, but no later than 2 hours before the train departure.
When returning to the carrier an unused travel document (ticket) purchased for travel as part of an organized group of passengers, less than 7 days, but no later than 3 days before the departure of the train ”(clause 86 of Rules No. 473).

Refund for the purchase of a ticket (except full price reserved seat and return fees) you can:

“When returning an unused travel document (ticket) to the ticket office less than 2 hours before the train departure.
When returning to the carrier an unused travel document (ticket) purchased for travel as part of an organized group of passengers less than 3 days before the departure of the train ”(clause 87 of Rules No. 473).

Near Abroad.

You can also rent tickets to the CIS countries, the Baltic states and Abkhazia before the train leaves.

The full cost of the travel document can be returned if you contact the ticket office a day before the departure of the transport from the passenger station. If there are from 6 to 24 hours left before departure, you can return the money paid minus half the cost of the reserved seat. If less than 6 hours are left, you can only refund the price for the ticket itself and for Additional services(tea, bed).

Far Abroad.

You can only return an electronic ticket through the official website of the carrier. You can apply for a refund at least 6 hours before the departure of the vehicle from the passenger station.

Buying electronic train tickets is a convenient and practical solution. But what to do when the trip is canceled and time is running out? Can the money paid be returned? How to return an electronic ticket of Russian Railways via the Internet, without visiting the ticket office?

In the article, we found out that a travel document purchased via the Internet differs from a regular, “paper” one only in form. Otherwise, it has the same properties: it can be returned, and it is even easier to do this than to hand it over at the box office.

To do this, you need to go through authorization on the Russian Railways website, go to your personal account and find the section “ My orders". If there are several orders, you should find the one you need and click on the link below it. Request ticket status". Now the button we need will appear next to the order “ Issue a refund».

By clicking on it, you will see some text with information about the return policy and the amount you will receive back. It will be different from what you paid. Regardless of the time remaining before the train departs, you will be charged a flat fee of 185.40 per ticket. It will not be superfluous to print the "return coupon" by clicking on the button of the same name. Actually, that's the whole procedure.

It should be noted that if you have already received a boarding pass at the Russian Railways box office, then the ticket turns from an electronic ticket into a regular one and you cannot return it via the Internet, you need to do this at the box office.

What is the amount to be refunded

By handing in a ticket no more than 8 hours before departure, you will receive the entire amount (minus the aforementioned fee). If between 2 and 8 hours remain before departure, then you will be refunded the full cost of the ticket, but only half the cost of the reserved seat. If less than 2 hours remain, then only the cost of the ticket itself is refunded, but not the reserved seat.

Not everyone knows that you can return the Russian Railways e-ticket even if you missed the train. If you make a return no later than 12 hours from the date of departure, then you will also be refunded the full cost of the ticket. The seat card is non-refundable. Moreover, if you back up your words with documents confirming illness or accident, you can return the cost of the ticket within 5 days.

Perhaps we should define the terms. What we used to call a ticket is actually a travel document. It, in turn, consists of two quantities:

  • in fact, a ticket, the price of which includes payment for the use of the railway infrastructure (railway tracks, stations, locomotives ...);
  • reserved seat, which is a payment for the use of the car.

The ratio of the cost of a ticket and a reserved seat is approximately 50 to 50. It depends on the distance of the route and the class of the car. For example, you need to drive 1000 km in a normal reserved seat car. The ratio will be approximately 60 to 40, since the distance is long and the cost of the wagon is low. And vice versa, if you ride in the SV car 200-300 km, then the proportion can be 40 to 60.

How to get a refund for an electronic ticket Russian Railways

The money will come to you on the same card that you used to pay when buying a ticket via the Internet. If for some reason you cannot use it (expired or lost), you should ask to change the details to the Russian Railways support service or directly to VTB24 bank.

Refunds occur within a week to a month. All this time, it is advisable to keep receipts and a return coupon (if you printed it).

Regardless of the reasons forcing the return of previously purchased RZD tickets, everyone has the opportunity provided by law to return tickets.

The legal document regulating the right of the buyer to return travel cards is called the “Rules for the Transportation of Passengers”. These Rules do not distinguish between valid and disrespectful circumstances that prompted the cancellation of the planned trip.

To reduce financial losses, when returning tickets purchased online or directly at the station ticket office, you need to be aware of the rules governing such a procedure.

Refund of Russian Railways e-tickets

If a travel ticket that suddenly became unnecessary even before the date of the flight was purchased electronically, i.e. without visiting real railway ticket offices and receiving paper ticket, it's easier to return it.

The return policy provides for a return electronic ticket Russian Railways via the Internet, which can be easily done at home, sitting at a computer.

Since tickets purchased via the Internet are not handed out directly to the buyer, he prints them out on his own, so it makes no sense to go with him to the place where the transport is sent.

Return procedure

First of all, in order to issue a refund, you need to go to the official website of Russian Railways, or the information portal of the company that acted as an intermediary in the sale of tickets.

To cancel the purchase of an unused RZD e-ticket, the system will require the number of the e-coupon or e-ticket order.

How long to wait for money?

The terms for the return of money to the bank card indicated in the application are from 7 to 30 calendar days from the date of registration of the cancellation of the coupon on the site.

How to make money come faster? Alas, only continue to make purchases in cash.
If it is decided to return the electronic ticket in your personal account or at the box office, the cashier will not issue the full amount either - a special railway fee and a service fee for an online purchase will be deducted from it - these are the conditions of the Rules.

Ticket return deadlines

The specific timing of the execution of the operation to refuse transportation servants is affected by the direction of the route (long-distance, local, long-distance and near foreign routes), and the date of departure of the flight.

Cancellation of a ticket after the train has already set off is possible, only a proportionally smaller amount will be returned (the mandatory fee will be additionally deducted).

For example, for local trains:

  • 8 hours before departure - 100% refund;
  • from 8 to 2 hours before departure - half the cost;
  • less than 2 hours and within half a day from the moment of departure - 25% for a compartment, and 0% for a reserved seat.

Refund of Russian Railways tickets purchased at the box office

Similar to last year, in 2017 the rules for the return of a valid train travel document that the buyer did not wish to use in the future remained the same.

Return conditions

As with buying a ticket directly at the box office of the station, the simple conditions for the return of a purchase that has lost its relevance require a personal visit by the buyer to the box office.

Attention! It is not necessary to try to get with your question exactly to the same box office where the ticket was taken. The main thing is that the refund should be made to any of the ticket offices, but to the exact station where the ticket was purchased.

Along with the travel document, which is planned to be returned, the cashier of railway tickets must additionally provide:

  • an identity document - usually a citizen's passport;
  • a self-filled application for a refund, the application form is issued by the cashier, or you can print it yourself on the website of Russian Railways and take it with you.

Attention! The identity card of the holder of the travel document must be strictly original. The return policy does not allow the presentation of copies, even properly certified ones.

What to do if it is impossible to return the ticket personally by the buyer

If such a situation has occurred, and the ticket owner is not able to return it on his own, there is only one way out: to issue a power of attorney from a notary to perform this action by someone else (attorney).

For such a purpose, you still have to personally come to the notary's office, or call a notary to your house.
Together with a notarized power of attorney, which indicates the rights of the attorney to return the ticket in the interests of his principal, the attorney will be able to return the ticket. In addition to the original power of attorney, the attorney at the cash desk must provide:

  • the original of your passport (similarly, copies are not allowed);
  • the ticket itself;
  • a self-filled application (or the application is filled in by the ticket holder).

It's important to know! It is necessary that the notary in the power of attorney must, in the powers of the attorney, indicate the possibility of receiving money for the ticket returned to the box office. Otherwise, he will not receive money for the ticket, and he may even be refused on this basis in accepting the ticket itself.

Financial losses

For any carrier, a customer's refusal of a service is a lost profit. In order to compensate him for the corresponding losses in case of conscientious behavior, the rules establish some guarantees in the form of deductions that apply to the initial cost of the service.

Thus, the money will be returned to the buyer, but not in full. How much you lose when you refuse the services of a carrier is affected by:

  • special railway tax, equal to 192 rubles. 70 kopecks;
  • if there is a commission of payment systems.

All information about fees must be publicly available from the carrier. If the money for the purchase is returned at the checkout, the commission will be deducted automatically.

How long to wait for a refund

If the travel ticket was purchased for cash, directly through the cash desk, upon its return, the funds, minus mandatory deductions, will be immediately returned to the buyer upon completion of the return procedure.

If you paid for the ticket using a bank transfer of money (card, payment order), the refund period will be much longer - up to thirty calendar days.

The passenger can not only buy a train ticket online, but also easily return it. If an electronic travel document was paid for with a bank card and was not subsequently printed on the official letterhead of Russian Railways, it can be returned directly in the Personal Account on the website. If the purchased card was printed out through self-service terminals or received at the box office at the station, then it will be possible to return it only at the cash desks of Russian Railways.

The money for the unused trip will be credited to the bank card with which the payment was made. Funds should be credited to your account within 7 - 30 days from the date of registration of the operation in the Personal Account. The exact terms of the transfer depend on the bank-holder of the card.

General conditions for the return of e-tickets

  • For delivery, a mandatory fee is charged, established by Russian Railways.
  • For non-monetary electronic documents for the travel of children under 5 years old without occupying a seat, the fee is not charged.
  • When returning an unused e-ticket issued for domestic and international trains with the CIS countries, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Abkhazia, the cost of services (including bed linen) is fully refunded.
  • It is possible to return both the whole order and separately each electronic ticket from an order for several passengers. In this case, the user acts on behalf of all passengers of the order, in connection with which all these passengers are considered informed about the cancellation of the trip.
  • Cancellation of travel according to documents issued in a "soft" car with service class "1A", "1M" or "1H" and the Sapsan saloon (car No. 01, seats from 27 to 30 with service class 1P) with payment of the whole coupe, is possible only for all positions of the order at the same time.
