Capsule hotels in world airports: how to relax without leaving the transit zone. Bench Evolution: Airport Capsule Hotels

It happens like this: you decide to save money and fly with a night transfer. But on the spot it turns out that there are several dozens of people like you from all over the world: all the sockets are occupied, there is nowhere to sit down, and the airport itself took care not to lie down, installing armrests on each seat.

What to do?

Option one is to be patient. Fight for an outlet, bring ear plugs and a sleep mask, and maybe a sleeping bag.

Option two - remove the sleep capsule for a couple of hours. Naturally, not for free.

An autonomous mobile capsule with a bed has been installed at Sheremetyevo International Airport. It is intended for passengers who have to wait a long time for a flight or just want to retire for a while. While this is an experimental sample. The authors of the project hope that in the future such mobile recreation areas will be able to work not only at airports, but also at railway and bus stations, Moskovskiye Novosti writes.

At the Aeroexpress terminal international airport Sheremetyevo passengers are considering an unprecedented design - a capsule, inside which there are two beds, located like shelves in a train car. The new area for sleeping and relaxing is called the slipbox and is not yet operational.

It is not known when the sleepbox will start working in Sheremetyevo. “This is an experimental sample. We did not set ourselves the task of immediately equipping the terminal with new mobile recreation areas. There is no talk about when the capsule will be launched and whether there will be more such boxes at the airport,” Vadim Semikin, press secretary of the Aeroexpress terminal, said.

“For starters, we just want to introduce the new product to passengers,” says Alexey Goryainov, the author of the Sleepbox project. This is the first and so far the only sample, which is now installed in Sheremetyevo. Its creators intend to install about 30 boxes in one of the capital's hotels in the near future. In the future, sleep capsules, Goryainov plans, can work not only at airports, but also in railway and bus station buildings.

The authors of the project say that inside the sleepbox, thanks to soundproofing, it is quiet enough to relax and unwind. However, no one has yet slept in the capsule, including Goryainov himself. The capsule is equipped with two bunk beds with automatic linen change, as well as folding tables, bedside tables and mirrors next to the beds. In the future, they want to install air conditioners, WiFi routers and TVs in it.

The experience of creating capsule recreation areas exists in many countries of the world, but the capital's authors of the Sleepbox project claim that their development is unique. “The most important difference between our recreation area and capsule hotels is the ability to install a sleepbox right in the airport lounge so that passengers who have passed passport control but have to wait for departure can retire and relax at any time,” says Alexey Goryainov.

A capsule hotel is already operating in the Aeroexpress terminal of Sheremetyevo International Airport. It got its name due to the small size of the rooms. The apartment is a small room with a bathroom. A passenger can check into such a room only before passing through passport control and for at least four hours. The most economical room for one person in such a hotel during this time costs 1490 rubles, and each subsequent hour - 300 rubles. And it is still cheaper than the rest that will be offered in the future in a new mobile capsule with a bed. Slipbox, according to its authors, will cost about 400 rubles. per hour per person for one seat in a double capsule and 500 rubles. per hour - in a single room.

When I first talked about the Russian Sleepbox sleep capsules, which began to be installed at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport (Sleeping capsules for hostels), many entrepreneurs, at first interested in this unusual way to sleep, were upset when they found out what the price of such capsules from the manufacturer - Arch Group - 10 -40 thousand dollars (for its price, this is no longer furniture, but some kind of car):

But you can do it cheaper, right? If you turn off the bells and whistles and design and leave only the essence - the ability to sleep peacefully and without shame. For this purpose, a regular cabinet with a horizontal shelf is suitable.

And the other day I heard that similar cabins for sleeping appeared at the Belarusian airport:

It seems to me that such a sleeping place will not pull more than 20 thousand Russian rubles.

There is a mattress, there is a pillow, there is even a bedside table and a socket - well, what else do you need for a sweet sleep at the station?

And for a sweet dream, you can take the same $ 10 per hour (or a little less).

Thus, investments in the business are reduced by (10,000 dollars: 20,000 rubles) 25 times!

And so it is in any business.

You don’t have money to buy a vending machine that prints photos from Instagram - to create a business in your city (read Boft - Instagram photo printing machine), put a table in the same area (meter by meter in the trading floor), a laptop and printer - and print pictures with your pens. There will be customers - the business will take place. There will be no customers - it means that you saved 500 thousand rubles on investing in Boft (photo printing machine).

All these fancy designs (Sleepboxes and Bofts) are not a panacea for creating your own business. Like any complex technique, they can break down, disobey, do something wrong, despite their high cost (I recently wanted to pay for a passport through its fancy machine in Sberbank - I couldn’t. The letter “z” was not printed in this machine "And that's why I couldn't print my address on it. So I went to the operator that accepts payments manually. And no one, apparently, is going to repair this machine).

In my opinion, the business on these boxes is done primarily by their creators, and not by the businessmen who buy them.

In addition, in our time, when you can only wait for the decline in oil prices and the next crisis, it is quite risky to run a business designed for clients who overspend. When you want to sleep, does it matter where you sleep - in a closet or in a designer drawer?

The hotel is located in the very zone of the airport, you don’t need to go anywhere, which is perhaps the main and only plus of this accommodation option for relaxing between planes. If there is not enough time between flights, then you don’t want to spend it on moving to the hotel and back instead of sleeping. That is why we chose him.

You need to be careful when booking, because two different hotels are located in different areas. One only for transit passengers, you will not get into it if you left the transit zone. The second is before passport control- For everyone.

The price of the room is pleasant, because the payment for 4 hours and then is hourly, that is, it comes out quite inexpensively. However, from a ten-hour window between planes, the cost loses all meaning: you get an uncomfortable hotel for the price of a quite high-quality one, but a little further from the airport.

The quality of the rooms leaves much to be desired. Besides the fact that the rooms are very small, they are also old and shabby. But the room has a TV on the wall. For people with luggage, they are generally not adapted.

We got some kind of nightmarish option - with a column in the room - this completely eliminated all signs of space. And this despite the fact that we took a room with a window, thinking it was better. Between the beds and the column there was no room to go to the window. Audibility is very good, which makes it difficult to sleep. Naturally, no chairs and tables, even the alarm clock had to be placed on the floor, although there is a nightstand in the photo on the site. Probably, it was possible to change it, but I didn’t want to waste time, we were very tired after the flight. Which was what they were counting on.

In general, this hotel can only be suitable if there is no way to spend time on transfers to more comfortable hotels, but you want to sleep. Take this hotel long stay, even for the whole day, I would not advise.

The capsule hotel is a Japanese invention for workaholics who miss the last train. In its original form, it was a windowless sleeping box, containing only a bed. However, today, capsule hotels are understood not only as similar cocoons - they are also good rooms with king size beds and bathrooms. The essence of the capsules is that a person can stay in it for several hours during a transfer, without leaving the airport and without leaving the transit zone. In this article, we will tell you about which airports in the world have convenient and interesting sleep capsules.
