The first thing that interests every foreigner who has flown to Naples is how to get from the airport to the train station, port, hotel or just the central part of the city. There are two options: taxi and bus. The second is more preferable for the price. Travel time takes about 20 minutes to the Central Station, about 35 minutes to the port.

Alibus buses run daily from 5.45 am to 11.40 pm. The interval of movement is approximately 15 minutes. You can buy a ticket either from the driver (it will cost 4 euros) or at the Sun Store kiosk located at the airport (it will cost 3 euros).

By the way, this option will be very convenient for those who want to immediately get on our daily Sightseeing tour of Naples, since Alibus buses have 2 stops in the city itself - at the central station on Piazza Garibaldi and on Piazza Municipio, from where our sightseeing tour starts excursion.

Buses from the 3S company also run daily, but on a different route - travel time increases significantly. Also, the 3S has no air conditioning, which makes traveling much less comfortable. True, the fare is cheaper - only 1 euro.

The bus stop is located next to the exit from the arrivals terminal, marked with a corresponding sign, so it will be easy to find it.

What to ride in Naples itself?

Taxi

Not the most convenient option, because the narrow streets of Naples are not designed for the traffic that regularly passes (well, or at least tries) through them. If you get at the wrong time, you can stand in traffic for a long time. In general, a taxi is an affordable mode of transport: the minimum trip on weekdays will cost 4.5 euros, the holiday fare is 6 euros.

Neapolitan taxi uses 2 options for calculating the cost - according to the meter or at a preset rate for the most popular destinations. The second is usually more profitable and always more comfortable for a tourist, since you know in advance how much the trip will cost.

Buses

There are many routes, you can get from any part of the city to the center and back, but the problem with traffic on the roads is also relevant for this type public transport. If you are not afraid to be late and you have time for a long trip, the bus is a convenient option.

Main routes:

Napoli - Avellino. The final route is at Piazza Garibaldi, buses leave 1 time in 20 minutes on weekdays, 1 time in 60 minutes on holidays.

Napoli - Caserta. The final stop is also at Piazza Garibaldi, buses run from early morning until late. The bus stops at Capodichino airport.

Napoli - Salerno. The final stop is located at the port, the bus runs 1 time in 30 minutes on weekdays and 1 time in 120 minutes on holidays and weekends.

Napoli - Amalfi. Departs daily.

Napoli - Mondragone— Baia Domitia. Runs once every half an hour from very early morning until 22.00 from Piazza Garibaldi.

Tram and trolleybus

In Naples, trolleybuses run on 8 routes, of which only 3 are urban, and the rest are suburban. Tram lines also do not cover the city very widely. Their total length is 10 kilometers, and the route is 3.

Underground

Opened in the 90s of the XX century. The metro is very young, so there are few lines, only 2. They are called, however, out of order - No. 1 and No. 6.

The first line has 17 stations and connects the central station and the center of Naples in general with the northern tip of the city. The sixth line has only 4 stations located in the west of Naples.

However, going down to the Neapolitan metro is not for the sake of speed, but in order to see the beauty of the late night, which is known far beyond Europe as a wonderful museum of modern art.

The Neapolitan funicular, which is essentially a separate mode of transport, is usually referred to as the subway. Recall that Naples is located on a hilly area, which is why the funicular services are so popular. 16 stations distributed over 4 lines serve about 60,000 passengers daily. The funicular operates from 6.30/7 am to 00.30/22.00 pm. The Chiaia and Centrale lines, which are the busiest, open the earliest and close the last.

In addition, a suburban train system operates in Naples, where lines 3 and 4 belong to the Circumvesuviana system. From the name it is obvious that using these branches of the railway, you can get to Vesuvius and the dead Pompeii. And in Sorrento, if you don't have enough experience at the first two stops.

How to pay the fare?

Good news for tourists: no complicated systems, different prices and other difficulties. One ticket for travel on all public transport in Naples. It is called TIC. There are several varieties that differ in the duration of the TIC and the cost:
