Our route begins in the city of Sysert. The city is located in the valley of the Sysert River, surrounded by centuries-old pine forests, among many ponds: Sysertsky, Mechanical, Ilyinsky (Kashinsky).
Introducing some variety into our hiking experience, we start the route from the Mechanical Pond, which is in the eastern part of the city of Sysert, below the dam of the Sysertsky pond.
The mechanical pond was created in connection with the construction of an ironworks in the 19th century. It connects the Bolshoy Sysertsky Pond with Ilyinsky Pond. The plant "Uralgidromash" is located on its shore. The pond is surrounded by a picturesque pine forest. Mount Bessonova is clearly visible from the side of the dam.
Mount Bessonova is the most prominent in Sysert. At its base, the dam of the Sysert pond and the plant appeared, and later the urban center of Sysert was formed. Since 1786, the Nikolskaya chapel has stood on the top of the mountain, which was famous for the fact that it contained the icon of St. Nicholas, especially revered by believers. In Soviet times, the chapel was blown up. And now on its top there is a Poklonny Cross, cast from cast iron, with the inscription on the crossbar "Save and save."
On the picturesque bank of the Sysert Pond we go to the suspension bridge, which will take us to its western bank.
The Sysert pond is a large artificial reservoir located on the southwestern outskirts of Sysert. It was created in 1732 for a local ironworks. The pond is formed by a dam at the confluence of the Chernaya and Sysert rivers, consists of three bays directed in different directions: Upper Sysertsky (southern), Chernovsky (northern) and northeast, from which the Sysert River flows.
The forest road passes through a picturesque pine forest and leads us to an arbor and a small pond in the Panova tract.

The key was consecrated, equipped, pavilions and a bathhouse were built. After the consecration, the Boiling Spring was also called the Mother of God.
Not so long ago, a path leading to Lake Talkov Kamen was covered with small gravel from the Boiling Key.
One of the attractions natural park"Bazhovskie Places" - Lake Talkov Kamen is located in the spurs of the Chernovsky ridge. The lake was formed as a result of flooding with the waters of an abandoned talc mine. Talc shale mining was carried out here at the end of the 19th century. With the discovery in 1927 of a large deposit of talc "Staraya Lens" near the village of Shabrovsky, the extraction of the mineral at Talc Stone ceased. Gradually the quarry filled with water.
Lake of irregular shape, up to 60-70 meters in length. The depth of the lake reaches 32 meters. There is a legend that a unique collection of porcelain is hidden at the bottom of the quarry, which was flooded here in the 1920s. These treasures once belonged to the last owner of the Sysert factories, Dmitry Pavlovich Solomirsky.
It is from Lake Talkov Kamen that our reconnaissance part of the campaign begins.
There is credulity of varying degrees of severity. The group "Together in the Urals" is a living embodiment of extreme credulity to the printed word and to topographic maps including. It is now that we understand that, along with the collapse of the great empire, the USSR has sunk into oblivion and tourist routes All-Russian significance. But, to our great regret, these routes and these roads are marked on the maps as existing and mislead some gullible tourists.
There wasn't much. What was once overgrown, and in our case - with grass and undergrowth of woody origin. According to the map, an excellent road in the south-west direction was supposed to lead us to the Chernovskaya ditch hydraulic structure and the dam through the Tersut swamp. In fact, the trajectory of our movement was “leg-shaped” - we moved from one overgrown clearing (direction - south) to another no less overgrown relative (direction - west).
Comfortable forest roads were only at Lake Talkov Kamen and at the dam through the Tersut swamp, but the beauty of the summer forest was completely at our disposal.
Sometimes they walked along the azimuth without any path, but still they moved in the right direction.

We go out to the power line and the situation from the category of "cretino-makekozo" safely agonizes. A forest road appears under your feet, what could be more pleasant?
The Chernivska ditch is a unique hydraulic structure of the 18th century located in the interfluve of the Severnaya Sysert, Kamenushka and Chernaya rivers. In our trip, we must cross that part of it that is located south of the Sysert-Rudnik Asbest highway and is depicted on all maps Sverdlovsk region in contrast to that part of it that is north of the highway and does not appear on the maps.
But first we have to overcome a small sea of mud, hinting to us that the ditch is somewhere nearby. The noble reader need not worry, we successfully overcame this obstacle without getting our shoes dirty.
This project was conceived in order to regulate the flow of water between three rivers and two factory ponds. In the 18-19 centuries, the main type of energy for the operating Ural factories was water. It was she who set in motion all the production mechanisms. According to the plan of the developers, the hydraulic structure was supposed to collect part of the water in the Chernaya and Kamenushka rivers and send it first to the pond of the Verkhnesysertsky plant, and then to the Sysertsky pond for reuse at the Sysertsky plant. The ditch was completely laid from the Chernaya River to the Severnaya Sysert River, but for some reason was not put into operation.
In this part, the man-made Chernovskaya ditch runs through the swamp. How did the unfortunate serfs and bonded people of Demidov's time pave it? It is hard to imagine. The ditch, of course, does not pass through the swamp everywhere. Its northern part was dug in a small area in the mountain, and the ditch runs through the canyon. But here is another case.
The total length of the Chernovskaya ditch is more than 10 kilometers. Why such a grandiose hydraulic structure, for the creation of which so much effort and money was spent, was not put into operation is not known. Various versions are put forward: technical miscalculations, economic reasons (lack of funds), feuds between the Turchaninovs' heirs. But none of them seems certain.
Before the dam through the Tersut swamp, there was something about a kilometer left. Heat... We have already covered about 27 kilometers (and we assumed that the entire route would be 26 kilometers). Having gathered strength and will into a fist, thinking about the high (for example, about the upcoming meeting with quarry lakes), we are moving towards the intended goal.
Tersut swamp is the largest swamp between the cities of Sysert and Polevskoy. In ancient times, an old road from the Sysert plant to Polevskoy passed through the swamp. The road was "thin, with paved gats." They preferred to use it only in winter.
Oh, how hot it was. We wandered, wandered, wandered ... and succeeded a lot in that. There are only 2 kilometers left to the saving bathing Quarry No. 1, but these kilometers seemed extremely long to us: we can’t get any way to communism. Caravans roam - salute to Malchish. But let's not digress from the main topic.
The first developments of asbestos date back to 1760. In the middle of the 19th century, the mine was abandoned as unprofitable, but in 1932 the deposit was re-explored. Exploration discovered 4 sites, which were worked out by four quarries. The village of Asbest was built at the mine.
Finally, we reached Quarry No. 4 (or Tersut Quarry).
This is followed by Quarry No. 3, where a recreation center is now located behind barbed wire. Quarry No. 2 hid somewhere among the forest thickets. We wholeheartedly rush to Quarry No. 1.
We are dragging ourselves into our beautiful future, we can barely move our legs. Or rather, the legs live their own autonomous life and regularly perform their functions, for which many thanks to them. Just the inner sense of time has changed, slowed down.

What we were like before bathing: filthy, shabby, it’s not clear what; the hair on his head looked slightly like a rearing washcloth. And after bathing: cheerful, full of life, interesting ladies of a tourist appearance. This is what living water does to a person.
There is still a whole hour before the regular bus Mine Asbest - Sysert. And here we are sitting on the shore of the lake like two slightly shell-shocked Heroes of the Soviet Union and looking at everything through the eyes of tired heroes - a little, a little condescendingly. Tourists are so strangely arranged that they cannot sit still for a long time. We decided to go to the highway and catch a ride. And caught. Such beautiful tourists do not roll on the road.

Verkhnesysert reservoir (also called Verkh-Sysertskiy pond) is located at a distance of about 50 km from Yekaterinburg.
At the beginning of the 19th century, many reservoirs appeared on the Sysert River in connection with the construction of ironworks. Verkhne-Sysert pond is the most picturesque of them. Formed in 1849.
