There are no underground floors in this building. This solved two problems - unstable swampy terrain and economic. Therefore, the underground parking, located at the "zero" level, is actually located on the first floor of the building. There is a hypermarket on the same floor.
Initially, it was planned to complete the construction in just one year, but the construction of the tent was delayed for 4 years - starting in 2006, Khan Shatyr was opened to visitors only in July 2010.
The first layout of the giant tent was without tilt. However, the largest buildings of Astana are aligned along the central axis, so Khan Shatyr had to be tilted by 15º. For stability, they decided to use not one axis, but a tripod - from three axes, each of which is about 150 meters long and weighs 2,000 tons.
