Football field on the ship. The largest cruise ships in the world

The famous showman and TV presenter, returning from a cruise on Caribbean on board the largest ship in the world, told FACTS about the miracle ship and its exotic route

Andrei Dzhedzhula is one of the first of our compatriots who was lucky enough to make a trip on the world's largest cruise ship Oasis of the seas, launched last year. The length of the 16-deck ship is about 361 meters, the width is 66 meters, and the height is highest point above the water line - 72 meters. Designed for 6 thousand 360 passengers and 2 thousand 100 crew members, the liner cost the customer almost one and a half billion dollars.

“A dress that is sold in Kyiv for a thousand dollars can be bought in Miami for 150”

This is a real city huge amount boutiques, restaurants, discos, swimming pools, fitness and spa centers, - Andrey Dzhedzhula shares his impressions. - Grandiose aqua shows, ice performances are arranged on the ship. There is even a garden on board with about 12,000 plants. Beautiful place! Every morning you wake up in a different part of the planet.

What was your itinerary?

Started from Miami. They did some shopping there first, as some of my friends lost their luggage. I never expected that everything that is so expensive in Ukraine can be so cheap there. For example, a dress that is sold in Kyiv for a thousand dollars can be bought in Miami for $150.

After the shops, we went to the port and, having checked in, got on board the ship - and much faster than you usually get on a plane. But about six thousand people were registered! Everything is thought out: everywhere there are separate exits and entrances - depending on the location of the cabins on the liner. First stop - the pirate island of St. Thomas ( Virgin Islands). The pirate theme is reflected here on all souvenirs. Highly beautiful beaches. Huge-ohm imposing iguanas crawl by the water! And so they strive to get under their feet. I even fed them. Then they moored to the island of Saint-Martin, divided between the French and the Dutch. Half of the population on it with French passports, the other half - with Dutch documents. And the island itself is the size of our Brovary (laughs). There are a lot of tourists here, so the prices for souvenirs are exorbitant.

You are an experienced traveler. I wonder what shocked you this time?

The first shock, of course, was the ship itself. A huge football field, a basketball court, a stadium for lovers of morning jogging, climbing slides, for extreme sports - a simulator of a tall surf wave in the pool, a "bungee" on which you soar ten floors down in free flight

I read that the ship is equipped with the latest technology.

This is true. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail, ultra-modern elevators are everywhere, including for the disabled. One of the passengers was completely motionless. Neither his legs nor his arms worked, the man did not part with the catheter and oxygen mask. He guided his wheelchair with the help of a special device ... in the pupil. By the way, there were a lot of travelers in electric chairs.

How long does it take to go around the whole ship?

I confess that in a week I did not bypass it! Although he was constantly on the move.

On such a huge liner, you can probably get lost

No no! At every step, a "virtual guide" is installed in the form of an electronic model of the ship. You press a button or type in a word and it becomes clear where you are in this moment or how to get from point A to point B.

Did you feel like you were not on a ship, but on land?

Yes, there was no pitching at all. You can put a glass on the table and it will not budge even a millimeter, the handle will not roll. Only once did the ship shake a little when we were sailing off the coast of Haiti, where an earthquake was taking place. Overboard at that time there was a terrible storm, but we felt only a slight vibration.

Are the cabins on the ship luxurious?

Nothing extraordinary, but very comfortable, there are even two-story apartments. I took a cabin with a sea view. There were also so-called "to the courtyard", that is, overlooking the garden. Each cabin has a TV. One channel constantly broadcasts in real mode the view from the bow of the ship.

“Ordering a limousine in New York is cheaper than taking several taxis for a large company”

How were you fed, anything special?

They prepared different dishes, probably the whole world cuisine was presented! The ship employs personnel from 80 countries. The “floating bar” is very unusual, which smoothly rises up and then falls down. Reminds me of a flying saucer.

Probably, in this you can get drunk in no time.

Yes (smiles). People drank there all the time.

In luxury hotels, guests often make nice gifts. Did they give you something?

Only one passenger received a gift. He lost 100 thousand dollars in a casino, and he was presented with four vouchers for this liner.

How for what? Valuable passenger! This one will play again and again.

By the way, how much did the trip cost you?

Expensive, not one thousand dollars. On the liner, however, cash was not needed at all. You pay for everything with a credit card. By the way, you enter it into the terminal when you leave the ship and when you return. This system is thought out so that none of the passengers is forgotten on the shore, not lost. True, if a person does not appear on the ship on time, several thousand people are unlikely to wait for him.

What did you buy as a memento of the trip?

Fridge magnets - nothing special.

And what struck you in Nassau?

Nassau is the place of the port "registration" of so many liners. There just aren't any! Even the Disney ship exists for families with children. Our liner, of course, stood out for its size. He was taller than everyone else.

Did you return on the same route?

We didn't stop at all on the way back. Exactly one day took the road to Miami, from there we flew to New York. True, they experienced stress there: they reported that the Kennedy airport was mined. We were not let out of the plane for three hours. When, finally, everyone left, they decided to make themselves happy: they ordered a limousine - it's cheaper than taking several taxis for big company. In New York taxis, it is often forbidden to ride in the front seat. A special partition made of impenetrable glass separates the driver from passengers. This is due to the fact that taxi drivers are often attacked. Given this situation, two or three people are placed in a taxi, and there were eight of us. And we fit in the limousine.

We also enjoyed the best sushi in the world in New York - huge, like our chops, from the freshest fish, with a minimum of rice. What else? We visited the museum where the film "Night at the Museum" was filmed, went to the Broadway musical "The Phantom of the Opera", walked along Wall Street, took a helicopter tour over New York, wandered around the shops a little.

In a word, we had a great rest.

One of the largest moving objects created by man are ships. There are a large number of various vessels used for various purposes. There are more than seven hundred high-class cabins with balconies here.

We have selected seven of the most amazing giant ships. Five of them have recently been set sail, two have already been written off, and you can even buy a ticket for one. Each of them is a champion in their category.

The longest ship on earth

Length - 488 m, width - 74 m, deadweight - 600,000 tons. Launched in 2013.

The largest ship on the planet and the largest floating structure ever built by man is the Prelude FLING. It is equal in length to the famous Wailing Wall in Israel. On board could accommodate five full-size football fields or 175 Olympic swimming pools. However, its purpose is different: it is the world's first floating plant for the extraction and liquefaction of natural gas.

The vessel belongs to the Dutch-British oil and gas company Shell, built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries, and will work off the coast of Australia, extracting gas from the ocean floor - the first drilling is scheduled for 2017. In the strict sense of the word, this is not quite a ship: Prelude will not be able to sail under its own power, and it will have to be towed to the workplace. But this monster is unsinkable and indestructible: it was created specifically for service in the “cyclone zone” in the open ocean and is able to withstand even the fifth, highest category hurricane. The planned service life is 25 years.

Petronas towers with spiers

Length - 458.45 m, width - 68.86 m, deadweight - 564,763 tons. Launched in 1979, scrapped in 2010.

The largest oil tanker Seawise Giant got into the Guinness Book of Records for its size. The ship is 6 meters longer than the 88-story Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, complete with spiers, and is about the width of a football field. It is so large that the draft did not allow it to pass through the Suez, Panama Canals and the English Channel.

Designed and built in Japan by Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd. in the mid-1970s, the tanker was destined for a Greek customer. However, he refused to buy: during the tests, a strong vibration of the hull was found while swimming in reverse. As a result, the ship was resold to a Hong Kong company and rebuilt: its displacement at full load reached an absolute record - 657,018 tons. During its long life, the ship changed owners and names several times, it was Happy Giant, Jahre Viking, Knock Nevis, Mont, went under Liberian, Norwegian, American and Sierra Leone flags.

In 1986, the Seawise Giant was nearly destroyed during the Iran-Iraq War. A missile launched by an Iraqi fighter caused a fire on board, the crew was evacuated, and the ship ran aground in the Strait of Hormuz and was considered sunken. The Norwegians found it, repaired it and sent it on a new voyage. Since 2004, the world's largest tanker has ceased to be a floating tanker and has been used as an oil storage near Qatar. In 2009, he made his last trip to the shores of India and was dismantled for scrap. After the disposal of the giant, the largest supertankers are four double-hulled TI-class ships: Oceania, Africa, Asia and Europe. They have a length of 380 m and surpass their competitors in terms of deadweight - 441,585 tons.

Four statues of liberty

Length - 382 m, width - 124 m, deadweight - 48,000 tons. Launched in 2013.

The catamaran Pioneering Spirit, which until February 2015 was called Pieter Schelte, is the absolute champion in terms of deck area. The creators claim that a small town can fit on it. In length, four statues of Liberty (93 m with a pedestal) could be laid. The ship was built in South Korea according to the project of a Finnish company. Its function is the laying of underwater pipelines and the movement of drilling platforms. In January 2015, the ship arrived in Europe and has already become the center of controversy because of its name - in honor of the Nazi criminal Peter Schelte Heerm, an SS officer who was found guilty of war crimes and evaded punishment by deceit. Seeing a gigantic ship with that name in Rotterdam, the Jewish communities of Great Britain and Holland raised a fuss, as a result of which even the British government spoke out in favor of renaming the ship. Under public pressure, the head of the Allseas company, which owns the miracle ship, and Peter Schelte's own son, Edward Heerma, agreed not to use his father's name in the name of the catamaran and changed it to the neutral Pioneering Spirit.
