And now we can proceed, with a light heart, to the publication of a story about our adventures in the Middle Kingdom. Impressions of the country, emotions grew gradually from one point of the trip route to another. And the first point, as we remember, was the financial capital of China - the glorious city of Shanghai.

In 2011, we spent only one day in this largest metropolis in China. It turned out that not so much can be seen in such a short time. We spent several hours in the Shanghai Aquarium, admiring the five-meter sharks and huge rays, walked along the embankment of the Huangpu River ( 黄浦江, Huangpujiang) from the TV tower "Pearl of the East" and walked towards the Century Park (Century Park, 世纪公园). But time was running out, we had to go back - we flew to Beijing in the evening and then home to Yekaterinburg. So, on such a short note, our acquaintance with the city ended.

This temple is located at the intersection of Nanjing and Huashan streets. Now it is the most famous Chinese monastery.

The building was built on Wusong Quay in 247, during the time of the Three Kingdoms. At that time, the Jinan Temple was called the Hudu Chongyuan Temple. While the Song Dynasty ruled China, it was moved to where it now stands, and it immediately became a very popular place. The temple received its current name in 1945. In 1972 there was a fire, after which the building was restored only a decade later. Its three halls were repaired in turn, from there such a long time. It wasn't until 1990 that tourists were able to start visiting again.

It hosts an annual temple fair, dating back to the time when China was ruled by the Qing Dynasty. It was while Buddha's birthday was being celebrated, in the middle of spring, on the eighth day of the lunar calendar, that the neighboring villagers sold their products here. So there was such a tradition to arrange an annual fair here. Once a year, you can buy any goods not too expensive here.

The second floor is occupied by a large number of different photographs of various places in Shanghai. They date from the first half of the twentieth century. East Nanjing Road, as you can see from these pictures, has remained almost the same as it was, and Park Hotel, once famous as the tallest building on the continent, is no longer even visible behind much taller buildings.

More than half of the third floor is occupied by a highly detailed layout of the city center. Shanghai is shown here as planned for 2020. There is also a circular video panorama, which attracts such crowds of people to the museum. The video here is only nine minutes, but what! The flight over Shanghai is so well done that you even want to duck down so as not to hit your head on the flyover.
