Cape Alchak is a protected area of the southwestern coast of Crimea. Zander

and you are bored with "seal" rest, then for a change you can climb the mountains located in the district. And Mount Alchak is one of the most suitable for this.

Firstly, it is not difficult to climb it, even inexperienced tourist(the main conditions are comfortable clothes and shoes, as well as caution, which never hurts). And secondly, it offers beautiful views of the surroundings of Sudak.

Alchak

translated from the Crimean Tatar means "low, low"

And indeed, mountain height -

For comparison:

the height of high mountain Sudak district - Perchem - is 576m, the height of Ai-George - about 500m, Sokol - 473m.

Alchak is visible from many points in Sudak. If you stand on the embankment facing the sea, then Alchak will be on the left.

It is not difficult to get to it, you just need to go to it along the promenade or near the edge of the sea, then 100 meters along the fence

and - you have already come to the place where Suuk-su river("cold water" from the Crimean Tatar) once flowed into the sea (in general, this happens even now during heavy rains, but earlier, they say, the Suuk-Su river was even navigable!).

This is where the main tourist trail of Alchak begins.

Above the river Suuk-Su rises -

a rock with a large through hole formed as a result of the weathering of limestone.

When Eol - God of the wind - blows through it in a certain direction, melodic sounds are created.

Through it you can see the coast of Sudak and the mountains of the New World.

At the beginning of the trail, in a place chosen and polluted by tourists, there is stone with an inconspicuous sign, speaking of a sad milestone in the history of Sudak.

Separately, Count R.R. Kapnist, one of the honorary residents of the city of Sudak. His daughter, Maria Rostislavovna Kapnist, many of you know from the films "The Bronze Bird" and "Ruslan and Lyudmila"

Remember the old countess from the "Bronze Bird" with a sinister appearance? And Naina from "Ruslan and Lyudmila"? This is Maria Rostislavovna, who was once a beauty and turned by a hard life into a wrinkled old woman with a characteristic face.

The biography of this woman is very interesting and tragic ....

Having paid tribute to the memory of the innocent victims, we pass on.

The trail leads along the entire mountain Alchak. At its very beginning, it is quite equipped, there is a stone fence and steps.

Generally trail length - about 1 km. They say that earlier a full-fledged road was laid along Alchak from Sudak Bay to Kapselskaya, along which they even rode in carriages. However, over time, the road was no longer maintained in proper condition and collapsed, leaving only a narrow footpath.

Back to bridge which is popularly called damn (apparently due to its overhang over the sea abyss and the apparent complexity of the passage).

Now it has both wooden railings and steps, but in Soviet times, they say, there was neither one nor the other, but there was expanse for desperate tourists and children, because they had to move through this place with acrobatic dexterity.

Cliffs hang over the Devil's bridge, respectively, Devil's Gorge . You look up, and the trembling creeps from the hulk hanging over you.

Right under the bridge there is a grotto, a favorite place for swimming "wild" tourists)) The grotto is beautiful, and the water in it changes its color from dark blue to turquoise.

In general, there are quite a lot of grottoes and crevices washed out by powerful sea waves on Alchak, which makes it mysterious and mystical.

So it seems that in one of them an old treasure will be found. And this idea is not without reason:

In 1959, near the foot of the mountain, archaeologists found a large hoard of Bosporus coins from the 3rd century AD.

In addition, geologists confirmed the presence of iron sulfide in Alchak - golden pyrite. It was washed from clay in a fair amount by local children back in the 19th century, they played with beautiful crystals, exchanged them. Golden pyrite suggested gold, especially since rumors and legends about gold mining here have been circulating in the Crimea since ancient times. Martin Bronevsky reported in the 16th century that gold was mined in the mountains between Crimea (Stary Krym) and Kafa (Feodosia). Rumors about gold deposits were fueled by the finds of many gold items in Scythian burial mounds.

At the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, claim posts appeared several times on the Sudak beach, enclosing the places where gold was suspected. Both the local and the metropolitan press wrote about this, calling the Sudak district a new Eldorado. This did not lead to gold mining, but to a noticeable increase in land prices.

Only in the 1960s, several grains of native gold were discovered by geologists in the vicinity of Sudak and Koktebel. Scientists have come to the conclusion that gold east coast is of local origin. Unfortunately, there is so little gold that its findings are only of scientific importance.

We did not find either gold or even pyrite, but we did find placers of calcite, shining in the sun like a precious stone.

In general, since Alchak, like other coastal mountains of Sudak (Fortress, Sokol), is coral reef , then here periodically there are archaeological and geological finds in the form of imprints of shells and the ancient shells themselves, as well as fragments of coral.

Ancient coral "sealed" into rock

The southern and eastern part of the Alchak trail descends to the sea, then again rises above it up to 50m!

Below - rock fragments, on which tourists love to relax, attracted by the relative desertion and silence of such "beaches".

Often there are nudists (I won’t attach a photo confirmation, because it’s unethical and often not aesthetically pleasing).

On the eastern slope, the trail leads to the road leading to Solnechnaya Dolina and Kapselskaya Bay.

There is a beach equipped, there is a cafe and parking for cars, as well as a place for tents. However, I would not advise you to swim in this place, something suspicious smells of hydrogen sulfide baths there ...

Alchak can not only be bypassed along the sea, but also climb to its top. You can climb from its different sides, both along the beaten paths, and almost anywhere.

The rocky surface of Alchak is quite rough and gentle, so the climb is quite simple, but you should beware of rubble and small stones - you can slide down them. In addition, for lifting matching shoes, preferably without a heel, with a rubberized sole and a heel lock. In flip flops, of course, you can also climb the mountain, but it is quite dangerous and unpredictable.

At the top, there are stunning views of Sudak Bay, Fortress Mountain and the mountains of the New World:

to Cape Meganom and Kapselskaya Bay:

on Ai-George, Scallop and Frog:

on Perch and the city of Sudak:

The summit of Alchak is quite gentle and once you've climbed it, it's a pleasure to walk on it, like on a plain.

"Plateau" Alchak

The edge of the southern and southeastern slopes are sheer cliffs, so approaching the very edge is dangerous (although desperate tourists do this)!

On the "plateau" Alchak grows a lot of juniper different types, publishing in the hot season just amazing and healing aroma! No worse than in the Juniper Grove of the New World.

Seagulls like to sit on Alchak, here you can take a picture of them very close.

The city of Sudak is located on the shore of the bay, which ends in the east with Cape Alchak. Citizens and vacationers often go to the cape to admire the surroundings, have a picnic or take a short trip to interesting and mysterious places Cape Alchak-Kaya.

Sights of Sudak

Sudak is a city with a long history, so tourists have something to see.

At the entrance to the city, the Genoese fortress, built in the 14th century by the Italians on the site, attracts attention. ancient city Sugdeya, known from ancient Russian chronicles.

The nearby village of Novy Svet attracts not only the cleanest beaches, but also the world-famous Novy Svet champagne factory, which was founded by Prince Lev Golitsyn in the 19th century. Excursion to the production facilities and tasting are very popular with tourists. In the village, the house-museum of L. Golitsyn has been preserved, where visitors are also allowed in and where the wine museum is located. It is interesting to take a walk along the sea along the steep one which leads to the grotto where bottles of champagne used to be kept and where, according to legend, the great Chaliapin sang.

Bays and springs spring water, the remains of ancient towers and fortresses, stairs and defensive structures - all this makes Sudak attractive for tourists.

Cape Alchak is another curious attraction of Sudak.

Mysterious name

In Crimean Tatar, Alchak-Kaya means “low rock”, the height of the cape is actually small and is 152 m.

natural features

Cape Alchak (Sudak) is a coral deposit that rose from the depths of the ancient Tethys Ocean about 10 million years ago, when the Crimean ridge formed.

On the chips boulders you can still find prints of ancient shells, sea urchins and shellfish. If you look closely, then in the mountain formations, branches of prehistoric coral and skeletons of fish are clearly distinguishable. The limestone over the past centuries has marbled, hardened and turned from the seabed into an open-air geological museum.

A walk along Cape Alchak will be of interest to those who are fond of minerals. Once there was a legend that real gold can be mined on the mountain. However, in fact, ignorant people mistook grains of golden pyrite for gold streaks. Even 20 years ago, it was easy to collect a handful of gold crystals in half an hour.

There are Icelandic spar, marble-like calcite and other minerals on Alchak-Kaya. In the 1950s, these stones were mined on an industrial scale.

Cape Alchak belongs to the protected areas of the Crimea, where amazing vegetation has been preserved, unusual for these places. Despite the proximity of the sea, the plants here are predominantly steppe. Thickets of wild rose, barberry and hawthorn alternate with pistachio and juniper bushes. Occasionally there are luxurious oaks and creeping wild roses and caper shoots adorn the steep slopes, which in spring surprise with unusually beautiful snow-white flowers.

The main thing is not to go astray!

It will take only 2 hours to bypass Cape Alchak in a circle and return back. What can be seen during this time, walking along the laid ecological path 800 m long?

At the foot of the cape there is a small beach, and if you swim, the road will seem less tiring.

A huge oak grows near the beginning of the path, even the old-timers do not know exactly how old it is.

Just above the path is a grotto called the Aeolian harp. It is clearly visible from afar, because it is a huge through rock, similar to a ring. A steep path leads to an amazing natural structure. If you overcome it, you can listen to the music of the Crimean wind. The Aeolian harp was formed due to weathering. The best photos on Cape Alchak are taken in the grotto, because framed by frozen corals, as in a frame, a beautiful view of the Sudak Bay and further, to New World, Cape Kapchik, Bolvan, Koba-Kai and Krepostnaya mountains, Sokol rock. On clear days you can even see Yalta.

Soon a comfortable path leads to the Devil's bridge. That was the name of the boardwalk bridge thrown over the landslides and cliffs. You have to walk on it carefully.

The path begins to wind under heavy overhanging rocks along coastline. A heap of stone blocks sometimes looks frightening, it seems that just about - and the stones will collapse into the sea, dragging the careless traveler with them.

Numerous paths lead down from the path to small bays, where it is good to swim and catch fish and crabs, which are very abundant here. In clear water, the fish are visible from afar, you don’t even have to leave the path. The most spacious is Kapselskaya Bay.

If you are lucky, and the Suuk-Su River is full-flowing, you can see how the fresh river flows into the salty sea. In 1914, a raging river caused a terrible disaster, destroying houses and carrying people into the sea.

At the top of Mount Alchak, you can find a cave-adit where marble-like calcite was mined. Here, archaeologists discovered the site of ancient people of the Bronze Age and a treasure from the time of the Bosporan kingdom.

The ecological path leads to the eastern side of the mountain, the beach behind Cape Alchak is excellent and therefore it has long been chosen by tourists who set up tents there every summer. The beach is small - only half a kilometer long, but cozy and clean.

It should be noted that the path is not accidentally laid along the sea. Alchak has 3 peaks, of which only the northern one is safe for an unprepared tourist. There are no paved and marked roads to the southern and central peaks. The places there are wild, there are often rockfalls, many crevices and faults, the slopes are steep and dangerous.

What is the most convenient way to get there?

Arriving in Sudak, you must definitely visit Cape Alchak. Every resident of Sudak knows how to get there and will be happy to tell you the way.

After walking along the main resort street of the city, and going out onto the embankment, you need to turn left and walk to the end. The walk will take 20-30 minutes.

The embankment ends with a boat station, behind which the Aeolian harp is visible on the slope of the mountain. This is the beginning of the trail. The trail leads along the sea, then descending to the beaches, then rising higher.

In places, the road along Cape Alchak has been cleared for the convenience of travelers, steps, railings and bridges have been made, and there are benches for rest.

Entrance to the ecological territory is free.

You can go along the ecological path, starting your journey from the village of Solnechnaya Dolina.

Tourist warning

Carried away by a walk, do not forget about the time. Although from the top of the cape at night a stunning panorama of Sudak opens up, shining with many lights against the background of the dark blue sea, not everyone will be able to go down in the dark. At night, when the path is poorly visible, various troubles lie in wait for travelers: you can fall into the cracks between the stones, twist your leg on a slippery path, or go astray. Another danger at Cape Alchak is stones falling off the slopes into the deep sea, crumbling soil, as well as unexpected rockfalls.

Every summer, rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations take lost tourists out of Alchak-Kaya.

The right gear for the adventure

Going to Cape Alchak, one must remember that Crimean mountains, low and seemingly safe, still do not forgive mistakes and neglect. And in order for the adventure to leave only positive memories, you need to properly prepare:

  1. Shoes. In no case should you wear flip-flops - they easily slide along the slopes. Heels or rag slippers do not fit. Sneakers are the best shoes for the mountains.
  2. A headdress is a must.
  3. If the day is sunny, you need to stock up on sunscreen and dark glasses.
  4. You must take at least 1 liter of clean water per person with you.
  5. For an evening walk, you need a powerful flashlight.

A suitably equipped tourist will find the road easy and will be remembered as a pleasant and interesting walk.

The reserved tract Alchak-Kaya is one of the worthy natural attractions of Sudak. It will be especially interesting to visit here for lovers of hiking and hiking. active tourism in the mountains.

By its origin, Alchak-Kaya is an ancient coral reef located in the southeast of the Sudak valley. In 1988, the territory of Cape Alchak was recognized as a reserve of local importance, since then the cape has been under the protection of the local forest and hunting economy. Alchak-Kaya is valued primarily for its original floristic, geological and mineral complexes (golden pyrite, small native gold, calcite were found here at different times), but there are not so many historical and archaeological monuments here. At the foot of the mountain, a Bronze Age site and the remains of a settlement were found, as well as a treasure trove of coins from the Bosporus kingdom of the 3rd century.

Ecological trail to Alchak-Kaya

It will take about an hour and a half, no more, to slowly go around Mount Alchak-Kaya in a circle. By itself, the paved path is not very difficult, but in some areas you will have to show dexterity and dexterity. For the tourist route, a circular path with a length of 800 m is equipped. Usually, tourists depart directly from the Sudak embankment (from the place where the Suuk-Su river flows into the sea) or from the Sudak-Sunny Valley highway, the second way will help save on the entrance ticket.

The road lies past the famous long-lived oak. Needless to say, the trail goes through picturesque places so take your camera with you. On the way tourists meet a pistachio tree, barberry bushes, wild rose, bushes of capers and wormwood in abundance. Behind is an outlandish natural creation - the Aeolian Harp, this grotto will still meet at the very end of the journey. Further, tourists follow through the Devil's Gorge and pass along the wooden Devil's Bridge towards a large grotto.

If you want to get a better view of the grotto, go down to the shore of Kapselsky Bay, crossing the cape at the base.

Then travelers are expected to climb Mount Alchak, from the top of which an amazing view of Sudak, the bays of the New World, the Genoese fortress, Mount Ai-Georgy and Cape Meganom in the east opens. It takes your breath away from the seeming infinity of being and the greatness of the slowly splashing sea somewhere below.

After the obligatory tourist rituals are completed in the form of a photo against the backdrop of the Crimean beauties, travelers descend from the mountain to the Sudak valley through the Aeolian harp.

The Aeolian Harp Grotto is a through hole in the rock of Alchak-Kaya, formed as a result of weathering of limestone rocks from a coral reef. The grotto got its name in honor of the powerful god of the winds, Eol.

A small environmental fee is charged for the passage to the trail around the cape from the side of Sudak. With this money, the trail is regularly cleared of debris, benches for rest are equipped on it. Self-confident tourists will not fail to leave the well-worn path and climb higher into the mountains, but in an unfamiliar area it is worth doing it only in a company - no one is safe from mountain cracks and landslides. After passing along the coastline, those who wish can swim in the coastal waters of the eastern slope, and diving enthusiasts can swim with a mask and fins in the southern part of the cape.

Cape Alchak, Sudak.

Mount Alchak in Sudak is a botanical reserve, taken under state protection since 1988. In turn, probably one of the most visited attractions, after such as the "Genoese fortress" and "CURRENT Sudak". Excursion around Alchak, one of the local resort services.

The more correct and complete name of the mountain is “ Alchak-Kaya". It means "Low Rock". From the outside, it is a small mountain that closes the Sudak bay, a kind of " Cape Alchak". Its height is not more than two hundred meters above sea level. It is annually climbed by crowds of visitors who want to get a share of light extreme sports. And every year, rescuers, at least a couple of times a season, rise to pick up those very extreme sportsmen. After all, it often happens when a person does not know the route, goes without a guide, does not calculate the time, and darkness catches him right at the top. In turn, the blessing of the sunset, incredible beauty the landscape opens up. And before the eyes appears resort town Pike perch covered in thousands of lights from hundreds of restaurants and boarding houses. If you watch the mountain from the side with the onset of darkness, it is not uncommon to observe burning points, then descending, then rising along the slopes of Alchak. At night, some people find something to do in the evening and see off the sunset on the top of the mountain. During the day, the landscape is no less interesting. From the top you can see the territory from Yalta to Koktebel. Mountains like "Meganom", "Ai-Georgy", "Perch", "Falcon", "Fortress" and others located outside of Sudak will be presented before your eyes in all their glory.

From the west side Alchak has a more or less gentle slope, and on the eastern side, in most of almost the entire territory, it is a sharp cliff, under which campers often pitch tents. The very top of the Alchak-Kaya mountain is mostly gentle and you can walk freely on it, but do not forget about caution, because there are places where the rock practically breaks off from the base and forms a bottomless gap. Due to the inaccessibility of some areas, Cape Alchak is a favorite place for overnight stays of seagulls, which soaring into the sky form an indescribable sight.

Alchak can be divided into three peaks. Northern - the highest, central and southern - the most dangerous. To visit, we recommend that you do not reach the third peak without a knowledgeable person or a guide, due to the danger of meeting the cracks that were mentioned earlier. Also, it is not always recommended to approach the edge of the cliff, since the soil of Alchak is loose and sometimes there are rockfalls. This is what many inscriptions along the ecological path and at the entrance warn about.

Sights of Alchak

Alchak-Kaya the mountain, though not big, but with rich stories and their secrets. The most common sights are the ecological trail, which we will pay special attention to in this article.

Damn bridge over the cliff. Which manages to connect the equipped path and the passage along the mountain leading to the Frenchwoman Bay, from the side of the sunny valley.

Iol's harp is a huge through hole formed in an ancient coral reef by historical processes.

The bed of the Suuk-su river flowing directly into the sea and running along Alchak until 2009. Unfortunately, on this moment the river became less full-flowing and that unforgettable moment of confluence fresh water and sea surf together is a rare occurrence.

But there is more interesting places which even the guide does not always show. For example, mountain cave Alchak, which was used to extract calcite. Bottomless faults on the third peak, perennial trees and many other small interesting things. At the foot of the mountain at the beginning of 2013, even the art object "Meerkats" was installed, but unfortunately it did not survive the season and now only pins in the rock remain from it. Excursion to the mountain Alchak-Kaya, a very entertaining activity that will burn some extra calories and leave a favorable impression.

Ecological trail Alchak

Reading Alchak trail from the end of the embankment. It has been operating since 2001 and is about one kilometer long. At the entrance there is a bar, a small gazebo, horizontal bars, previously there was even an Alchak zoo, but at the time of 2013 it ceased to exist. And of course, the checkpoint that encourages visitors is unshakable. The entrance fee changes annually. But recently the entrance was 25 UAH. Fortunately, the money is collected, the territory is well-groomed and cleaned by foresters every day. Garbage bins are installed along the trail and benches are placed where you can rest if the road turned out to be difficult for you.

The first thing you will meet on your way is a small beach under a rock. You can read more about it in the article "Sudak Beaches". Then the trail goes uphill and wild landscapes open before you. To your right is a steep cliff with a raging sea, and to your left are powerful rocks hiding the history of many millions of years. Having passed this path, you will come across a small wooden bridge, behind which a well-groomed path breaks off and a more difficult path begins further. Here, huge, sheer cliffs hang over you and you get the feeling that they are about to move away from the base and collapse down. And under these rocks there are many small coves, where many do not lose the chance to swim naked in clear water. We also recommend swimming with a mask in these places, because there is a plentiful, living life, colorful undersea world. Passing the bays and continuing the path, the path goes around Cape Alchak and turns into rugged terrain that not everyone passes, even in sports shoes. It is indeed a very wild and confusing place. Overcoming difficult sections of the route. You will be met by a narrow beach more than 500 meters long. Thus, gradually, you will find the beach under the alchak from the side of Meganom.

Perhaps there is nothing more beautiful than the reserved tract of Alchak-Kaya in the Crimea with its picturesque, unique wild expanses, natural beauty that surrounds from all sides and excites the imagination. There is some grandeur in it, bright, serene and unforgettable, and the feeling of virgin purity that does not leave the sophisticated contemplator during his stay in this amazing place makes it special. Truly this small world pure, untouched nature, not spoiled by human influence and the benefits of civilization. A corner of true, unartificial beauty, real, which is felt right at the level of consciousness, which makes Alchak-Kaya so attractive.

Where is the tract located in the Crimea?

Being a delightfully beautiful place, it is located on the southeastern coast of the Crimean peninsula, east of. The tract is located in the Sudak Bay and is considered a natural barrier between the Sudak and Kapsel valleys.

Alchak-Kaya on the map of the peninsula

What is Mount Alchak?

The Alchak-Kaya tract is, first of all, a rocky cape 150 m high, which in ancient times was a coral reef, like most geological formations in the Sudak region, protruding 500 m into the Black Sea. It was formed as a result of the inexorable processes of erosion, which, together with the weathering of the marble-like limestone that makes up the rocks of the coastline, the destructive action of waves and landslides, which continue to this day, created the current landscape. In 1988, the cape became the central object of the nature reserve with the same name, which, in addition to it, included a small valley and surrounding rocks. All those who have been here without a shadow of a doubt declare that if it were not for the reserved tract of Alchak-Kaya, the Crimea and Sudak itself would have lost a significant part of their natural charm and charm.

First of all, this is the "Ecological trail" - the famous tourist route encircling the slopes of the mountain. Its length is approximately 800 m, and in time this short hike takes an average of 1.5 hours. However, this is an interesting and very exciting walk, during which, literally at every step, beautiful views and picturesque landscapes open up, changing like in a kaleidoscope.

The trail originates at the very end of the Embankment, at the confluence of the Suuk-Su River into the Black Sea, there is another option - from the side of the Sudak - route, but it is not so picturesque, so the first option is preferable. Suuk-su is not deep, usually calm and serene. It is very entertaining to wade along the stones sticking out of the water, but you should be careful - it fully justifies its name "cold water".

At the beginning of the trail, travelers pass a sprawling ancient oak, its age is, according to some estimates, more than 300 years, further on the way there are pistachio trees and cypresses. In late spring - early summer, the surroundings along the trail are buried in marvelous flowers, filling the area with a heady aroma. And even further the world of flora is replaced by wild rose, barberry, and the higher up the mountain, the poorer the floristic kingdom, represented only by a rare juniper.

Just before the ascent, the path runs through the Devil's Bridge, thrown over a cliff, where far below, in a frantic rush, hissing and foaming, waves crash against the rocks. Due to the name, the narrow wooden bridge seems to be shaky and rather dilapidated, but this is a misleading impression - in fact, it is durable and quite safe. It also offers a panoramic view of the mountain and the Aeolian Harp - the main attractions of these places, thanks to which the reserved tract Alchak-Kaya in the Crimea has received such wide popularity.

Ascent to the indescribable beauties of Sudak

The ascent to the mountain itself is the most interesting and exciting part of the route, here it looks like a huge springboard, but the way to the top is not as exhausting as it might seem. AND
as soon as you reach it, you immediately take your breath away from what you see and your whole being is overwhelmed with indescribable, childish delight.

From the top of Alchak-Kaya, a stunning view of the bay, the surrounding rocks and the wide water surface of the Black Sea, stretching to the horizon, opens up. It is also interesting that this is a great place for viewing (against its background, Alchak-Kaya looks like a squat hill) and rising on the Fortress Hill. The top is also a place where amazing photos of the surrounding beauties are obtained.

On the way back, leading to the Sudak Valley, the most entertaining will be the inspection of the Aeolian Harp - a grotto created by the forces of nature, penetrating the mountain through and through. At a cursory glance, it seems man-made - its forms are so perfect, but in fact it is nothing more than the result of weathering of pliable limestone. Here you can also see the remains of a road that was wide in the past, leading to the neighboring one.

How to get to Cape Alchak-Kaya?

In Sudak, one of the most popular places is the Alchak-Kaya tract, you don’t have to worry about how to get to it. You just need to sit down, for example, in the center on minibus number 4 and get to, from where you have to walk about 2.5 km along the coast in an easterly direction - past the boat station to the end of the embankment.

If you are moving by car, then the easiest way to get to Alchak-Kaya from the bus station is as follows:
