The Italian "boot", stretching from central Europe almost to Africa itself, is washed by five seas at once. These are the Ligurian, Tyrrhenian, Ionian, Adriatic and Mediterranean (which, in fact, includes all four of the above basins). Each of them has its own characteristics and specifics.

Adriatic Sea
