Fortress Godlik

In the Chemitokvadzhe microdistrict, on the left bank of the Godlik River, the ruins of military fortifications of the 5th century have been preserved. Initially, the fortress belonged to the tribe of geniokhs, who were engaged in robbery and raids on neighboring cities. Then, in the 14-15 centuries, it was rebuilt by the Genoese colonizers.

The surviving towers and fragments of walls with loopholes still remind of the warlike owners of the fortress.

Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

On a small hillock in the very center of Lazarevsky stands a beautiful temple, made in the pseudo-Russian style. The church was built in 1903, and in 1936 it was closed and all church utensils, along with icons, were burned.

Until 1941, the museum of Moscow artists was located in the building, and after that, until 1950, a radio station was equipped in the church. Only in 1962 the church was revived.

Now it is the only church-historical museum on the entire Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. Within the walls of the museum are ancient religious books, clothes of priests and church utensils. Also on the territory of the temple is the church of St. Seraphim of Sarov and a multi-tiered belfry.

In addition to Mamedov, there are Svir and Crab gorges in the vicinity. Svirskoye lies on the outskirts of the village, the route along it is 3 km. Along the way, tourists are waiting for natural attractions: the Svirsky waterfall, the Slava dolmen (3rd century BC), the Moonstone, the Adam and Eve waterfalls, the Wishing Tree, the Teschiny Tears waterfall.

Crab Gorge is known, first of all, for "weeping" rocks and bizarre limestone formations, which are 70 million years old. In addition, there are several waterfalls, bathing bowls, picturesque grottoes, grottoes, a karst canyon with travertine growths, an abandoned garden with subtropical fruit trees in the Crab Gorge. And also, if you're lucky, you can see freshwater crabs in the gorge in shallow water.
