Motor ship project 301 diametrically. Shipyard in Beutsenburg

Project 301 river passenger ships are large passenger ships designed to make river cruises. Project 301 is the first series of cruise ships built for our country, not transport ships.
The construction of Project 301 ships for our country was carried out at the shipbuilding enterprise VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg / Rosslau in Boizenburg (East Germany). The lead ship of the series was the motor ship "Vladimir Ilyich" (current name "St. Petersburg"), launched in 1974. The construction of the Project 301 ships was carried out in three series. Later ships differ from the first series in external design and some equipment of the vessel. So on the ships of the second series, unlike the first, solid bulwarks appeared instead of mesh, rounded cabin windows instead of rectangular ones, searchlights under the onboard control posts in the wheelhouse. A more powerful thruster was installed on the ships of the third series. A total of 22 motor ships of project 301 were built.

The constructed motor ships of project 301 were distributed to the North-Western, Volga, Volga-Don, Dnieper, Moscow, White Sea-Onega, Kama and Amur shipping companies. In the 90s, two Russian motor ships were sold abroad, where they were used as rack-mounted ships. The rest of the ships continue to work today, they mainly make tourist cruises between Moscow and St. Petersburg, some ships cruise along the Volga.

Initially, project 301 on motor ships provided for single, double, triple cabins, each of which is equipped with an individual bathroom, restaurant, cafe, salons and a cinema hall with sliding walls and a roof. The air in the passenger areas of the ship was air conditioned. In the course of operation, the ships underwent modernization - for example, salons on some ships were transformed into bars, cinema halls were converted into bars and conference rooms, on some ships the premises of the upper hall were expanded by dismantling sliding walls and roofs. Cabins were partially remodeled, on some ships the number of deluxe and semi-luxe cabins was increased by combining several standard cabins into one. To date, two motor ships have undergone a comprehensive modernization in Romania with a complete redevelopment of passenger premises, elevators have been installed on these ships in the main span, and passenger capacity has been reduced. For work in the North-West direction (Ladoga and Lake Onega) ships are equipped with a large number of life-saving appliances(life rafts) to meet the requirements of class "M".

Main specifications Project 301 ships:
Vessel length: 125 m
Vessel width: 16.7 m
Vessel height (from main line): 15.9 m
Number of passenger decks: 4 (additional passenger cabins in the hold)
Average driving speed: 24-26 km/h
Number of main engines: 3
Power of each engine: 1000 l/s
Class of the River Register: "O" (inland waterways, rivers and reservoirs, passage through the Ladoga and Onega lakes with wave height limitation))

The most comfortable ships on this moment. Accordingly, vouchers for them are the most expensive. Most liners serve foreigners on the route Moscow - St. Petersburg.

Motor ships of project 301 (type VLADIMIR ILYICH, German designation 125M, ship 125 meters) are large passenger ships designed for river cruises, which became the first mass series of ships of this class in the USSR. Motor ships have single, double and triple cabins equipped with bathrooms and air conditioners, a restaurant, a bar, two lounges, a cinema hall with a retractable roof, a souvenir kiosk. In recent years, the interior equipment of some ships has been upgraded to keep them up to modern standards.

The vessels are manufactured in Germany at the VEB Elbewerften Boizenburg / Rosslau shipyard.

The original design was modified after the construction of several ships. Externally, the modified motor ships differ from those built according to the original project by solid rather than mesh bulwarks, rounded rather than rectangular cabin windows, and other design elements. On later ships, the power of the bow thruster was increased. Two vessels were built with a reduced hull width. A heavily modified continuation of the series - project 302.

In total for the period 1974 - 1983. motor ships pr. 301, 22 units were built, of which 6 were of the original design.

Motor ships pr. 301 are operated (were): in Russia - on the Volga, Kama, Don, rivers and lakes of the Volga-Baltic waterway, Amur; in Ukraine - on the Dnieper with access to the Black Sea along the Crimean coast. They mainly work for tourist routes: Moscow - St. Petersburg, Moscow - Astrakhan and other routes along the Volga, Kyiv - Odessa, as well as on shorter ones: St. Petersburg - Valaam, Moscow - Uglich, Kyiv - Kanev. During the inter-voyage and inter-navigation period, motor ships can be used as floating hotels. Vessels of this type were supplied to the North-Western, Volga, Moscow, White Sea-Onega, Volga-Don, Kama, Amur shipping companies of Russia, Ukrainian Dnieper shipping company.

All the well-known four-deck motor ships of projects 301 and 302 were born in Boyzenburg. The shipyard built motor ships commissioned by the USSR from 1975 to 1991. In total, 22 motor ships of project 301 and 27 motor ships in various modifications of project 302 were built. All these ships entered various shipping companies of the USSR, the last three ships went all the way to China, and the 28th motor ship of project 302 was never completed. In this post, some photographs from the "family nest", from the archive of the shipyard. I have posted some of the photos before, but I think if there are repetitions, then it’s not scary.

#one. Probably the most famous photograph from the shipyard. Launching of the ship "Marshal Koshevoy" (summer 1988). "Marshal Koshevoy" after completion will go to work in Ukraine. Then in 2011 it will be moved to Russia. Now the ship is called "Viking Akun" and is undergoing re-equipment in St. Petersburg.

#2. Another launch of the ship project 302. The building number on the cheekbone is not readable. The caption to the photo indicates that the descent took place on May 1st.

#3. And on board this ship you can see the name. It . Now only memories remain of him, but here is a photograph from the day he was born.

#four. Separately from the hull, elements of the superstructure of the ship are placed on the barges. Ahead is a passage under the bridges of Hamburg, where there is no way to pass with a fully assembled four-deck superstructure.

#5. Also part of the superstructure and the pipe.

#6. Posting under the bridges of Hamburg motor ship "Konstantin Simonov". Two upper decks dismantled. Then the superstructure of the ship will be assembled and it will continue its haul.

#7. Assembling sections of the future ship.

#eight. The hull of the motor ship project 301 before launching. Ahead is another almost finished ship.

#9. After passing the limiting bridges, the superstructure is put back in place and the ship is ready. Here in Hamburg the ship "Alexander Grin" is assembled.

#ten. Motor ship "Alexander Grin" at the lock of the Kiel Canal. The motor ship is fully assembled and ready for further haul. Alas, the ship will not get into the Volga-Don Shipping Company, for which it was built. Russia will refuse to buy it and it will end up in China, where.

#eleven. Motor ship project 302 at the quay wall of the shipyard.

#12. Solemn event on the occasion of the launch of the next motor ship - "Marshal Rybalko" (project 302). Today it is called "Zirka Dnipro" and operates on the Dnieper and the Black Sea.

#13. An event for greater solemnity with an orchestra.

#fourteen. A mandatory procedure when launching a ship is to break a bottle of champagne on board.

#fifteen. Last preparations.

#16. Ready!

#17. The steering gear and propellers of the newly built Project 301 motor ship. It was this steering gear that was invented and patented by the German designer of the shipyard Boitsenburg Friedrich Enkel. Given the powerful thrusters, the German four-deckers were distinguished by excellent maneuverability.

#eighteen. After completion, the official transfer of new motor ships was carried out. The ships raised the Soviet flag.

#twenty. Soviet captains came to Germany to receive their future ships.

#21. In the wheelhouse of a new ship.

#22. Today, the standard interiors have been preserved on a few ships and they no longer impress anyone. But in those years when the ships were just being built, they were super comfortable. Therefore, many booklets were full of photographs of cabins and interiors. Single cabin.

#23. Living room suite.

#24. The upper restaurant of the ship.

#25. Recreation salon.

#26. Internal ladders in the corridors.

#28. And now some freshly built ships. Motor ship "30 years of the GDR" at the landing stage.

#29. Motor ship "Akademik Viktor Glushkov" now "Igor Stravinsky" with his family long name on board.

#thirty. Newly built ship Quiet Don"- the fifth of the project 301 (the first series of the project).

#31. Motor ship "Taras Shevchenko" is the last motor ship of project 302MK and in general the last passenger ship that got on the waterways of the post-Soviet space. After 1991, new motor ships were no longer delivered to Russia and Ukraine. "T.G. Shevchenko" today is located on the Caspian Sea, where.

#32. Motor ship "Vladimir Mayakovsky" project 301.

#33. In Boyzenburg, by order of the USSR, not only passenger ships were built, but also cargo ones. Project 326 "river-sea" mixed navigation container ships. In the photo: "STK-1001".

#34. Refrigerated motor ships of project 037. In the photo: "Refrigerator-601" (decommissioned and broken up in 2005).

#35. Refrigerated motor ships of project 342. In the photo: "Roslau" (currently not in operation). These ships were built only three in 1990. All of them are in Yakutia, two are working safely.

#36. One of the bulk carriers before launching.

#37. It is a pity that all Sudoimport contracts were abandoned. By the beginning of the 90s, the shipyard in Boitsenburg had prepared several new project proposals river vessels. So, for example, new three-deck motor ships of project 311 were supposed to come to our rivers - a very simmatic reduced copy of the 302 project. But they could run now and like this ...

#38. Also a very famous photograph in river communities. In the foreground is the hull of some marine cargo ship. We are not interested in him. Please note - in the background, near the quay wall, there is a ship hull without a superstructure. This is the last project 302 motor ship laid down at the shipyard. It was intended for the USSR and was to be called "Vladimir Vysotsky". Only the hull was built, when it became clear that Russia would not buy the ship. The hull stood at the shipyard for several years, after which a pleasure boat-restaurant for Amsterdam was built on its basis.

So far, everyone is from Boyzenburg. Someday I'll scan the book.

Many lovers of river cruises have probably heard about the comfortable ships of project 302. What do these numbers mean? Why several different units are included in this category water transport? Our article will tell in detail about the motor ships of project 302, their features and characteristics. Perhaps on one of them you decide to take a swim during your next vacation.

What is "Project 302"?

Project 302 motor ships were built at the VEB Shipbuilding Company in Germany. They have the German designation 129M, and according to the Russian nomenclature they are often referred to as "Dmitry Furmanov" type ships.

These large passenger ships are designed for river and short sea cruises.

The development is based on the motor ships of the 301 series, which have undergone an impressive modification and improvement.

27 ships

In total, 27 motor ships of project 302 were built during the period from 1983 to 1991. 7 of them left the shipyards in the form in which they were originally designed, 6 ships of the last years of production underwent modifications aimed at meeting high quality standards.

Vessel No. 28 was not completed. For some time it was at the shipyard, where it was subsequently dismantled.

Motor ships are currently operated in three states:

  • in Russia (Volga, Kama, Don, rivers and lakes of the Volga-Baltic waterway);
  • in Ukraine (Dnepr);
  • in China (Yangtze).

project 302

All ships have similar characteristics, but there are several differences between them. This is due to the fact that the owners of water transport seek to increase the level of comfort, improve technical parameters.

Each Project 302 ship is equipped with three engines. This transport is capable of speeds up to 22 km / h. The length of the vessel is 129.1 m, the draft reaches almost

Deck layout

Project 302 motor ships are three-deck. Most of them have single, double and quadruple cabins. Each of the cabins has a bathroom, refrigerator, comfortable beds, bedside table. The ships are fully air conditioned.

The following diagram shows the standard design of Project 302 motor ships. But it should be noted that not all modern ships have the same structure.

Guests enjoy visiting the bar, restaurant, concert hall and cinema, sauna. All ships also have beauty salons. In souvenir stalls, you can buy gifts for friends, as well as cute little things for the house that will remind you of the river trip.

Cruise ship "Rus"

Imagine what the cabins look like interior decoration, entertainment halls of the ship, photos will help. The motor ship of the project 302 "Rus" during its existence practically did not undergo large-scale modifications, so it makes sense to consider it as one of the examples.

282 passengers can be accommodated on board. Most cabins are compact, but they have everything you need to relax. On the lower deck there are several four-berth cabins, which have a second tier of beds. The room may not seem spacious enough, but, according to many vacationers, there is enough space. Especially like the upper berths, which you need to climb on wooden ladders, children. Round windows-portholes add charm to the room (in other cabins there are panoramic rectangular window openings).

There are only two luxury cabins on the Rus. They are located on the boat deck, are spacious, have 2 rooms each, are furnished with luxurious furniture. The beds are paired, there are TVs, air conditioners, refrigerators.

"Magnificent Katherine"

The real name of this ship is General Lavrinenkov. In 2014, his cruise activity was completed. The owners had to slightly adjust their reconstruction plans due to a decrease in demand for cruises on Russian rivers due to sanctions. But in 2016, the liner returned to the water under a new name - MS Excellence Katharina. The renaming did not happen, "Magnificent Katerina" is just a brand under which the ship cruises.

The changes were not limited to rebranding. A review of the ship of project 302 MS Excellence Katharina should begin with a mention of the absence of economy and standard cabins on this ship. All rooms have been refurbished into modern two-room junior suites and suites. Air conditioning systems are installed throughout the ship. For the convenience of guests, it is equipped with recreation areas, promenade decks, a luxurious restaurant, several bars, and a gift shop. The ship's personnel is a team of excellent professionals who are used to working not only with Russian, but also with foreign tourists.

The ship "Sergei Diaghilev" was reequipped in a similar way. This luxurious modern cruise ship operates flights under the Rachmaninov Prestige brand.
