On Monday, August 2, Sevastopol journalists on the catamaran "Crimean Arrow" made a presentation flight to Yalta. The revival of the route Yalta - Sevastopol - Evpatoria - Odessa became possible thanks to the company "London SkyTravel". More than ten years ago, "Comets" traditionally went on this route. Then, by order of the USSR Ministry of Fleet in 1990in Norway, two catamarans were built - the Crimean Arrow and the Blue Arrow. But with the collapse of the country, the catamarans leftto work on the Mediterranean lines or carried "shuttles" from the Crimea to Turkey and back. Then, as the permanentthe captain of the "Crimean Arrow" Albert Kulikov, in the late 90s, went to work in the Red Sea for two years. The ship wasconverted into a floating casino, since it was impossible to open gambling establishments in Israel. In the bottomroulette tables and gambling tables were installed in the salon, and a small restaurant was located in the upper one. And worked prettysuccessfully. A. Kulikov, who has been at the captain's helm for 35 years, says that he is glad to return to work on the old route:"Crimea is unique and very beautiful. We worked in Croatia in 2002, beautiful places, but our South Coasttheir beauty is not inferior to them at all. I think, over time, smart leaders realize that Crimea is a gold mine."

The refurbished ship is ready to provide its 300 passengers with very comfortable conditions. You can choose seats in business or economy class, watch a movie on the way, spend time in a bar or dine in a restaurant.“Now we are resuming the line,” says Konstantin Lichikaki, commercial director of London Sky Travel, “toUnfortunately, she did not work for a long time, and everything has to be rolled in a new way. The task is difficult, but doable. It's already the 28thflight, there is an increase in passenger traffic, in August there will be the most intensive flow. Last flight had 90 passengers out of 15countries: from Kazakhstan to the Netherlands."

"Crimean arrow". Vessel length 43 m, width 10 m. Optimum speed 30 knots (55 km/h).

Bulgaria - Romania "Arrow to Europe"

Every year, sea travel becomes more convenient and diverse for tourists and passengers, and everyone will be able to choose a suitable alternative for themselves: train + boom, bus + boom, car + boom. For instance, Russian tourists highly appreciated and prefer the travel option, which combines train and sea transportation on a catamaran.

The journey from Odessa to Varna aboard the Crimean Arrow catamaran takes only nine hours, and all this time is filled with dolphins, seagulls and fresh sea air.

The route started operating in 2004. The company took a certain risk by introducing the Odessa-Varna-Odessa summer route. Soon, an additional flight had to be introduced, and now the catamaran runs from South Palmyra towards Golden Sands twice a week. If in 2004 about 5 thousand passengers were transported, then in 2007 - already more than 9.5 thousand - progress is evident. During the mini-journey, passengers on board the catamaran can enjoy sea and land views. The ship's premises are air-conditioned, equipped with video, audio equipment, a bar, and an information desk where each passenger can get any information or order a taxi. For those who cannot do without tobacco, there is a special smoking area. And special tariff plans for sailors, students, pensioners, war veterans and organized groups have become another argument to choose Crimean Strela.

And the “Crimean Arrow” itself at one time worked on European lines and even as floating casinos for foreigners, which already speaks of its comfort. The ship was built in Norway in 1990, and in 2004 it underwent a major overhaul. Good speed, capacity (298 passengers), comfort and professional crew create ideal conditions for moving to sunny Bulgaria and for the subsequent return to blooming Odessa.

In addition, since 2008 flights Odessa - Constanta (Romania) have been operated. Now this port city is becoming more and more famous thanks to the resorts growing around it. Previously, Constanta was known only thanks to the departure of the Potemkin battleship there in 1905. Now, thanks to infrastructure and competitive prices, Romanian resorts are very popular. The journey to Constanta from Odessa now takes only 6 hours.

Geography and history of the area

Scientists have established that the Arabat Spit is a young formation in geological terms. She began to rise above the water as a result of a strong shallowing of the Sivash and in the XI-XII centuries. It began to be depicted on maps only in the middle of the 17th century.

The appearance of a barrier separating the bay and the sea surface (they are now connected by a narrow strait) led to a sharp increase in the salinity of the Sivash - there is nowhere for the salts to go. This explains its nickname Rotten Sea (not every living creature will agree to live in brine!) and the great popularity of local mud among balneologists and cosmetologists.

On the spit itself there are also several small salty with healing brine, which promotes healing. Even in the Middle Ages, salt began to be actively mined here - Ukrainian Chumaks went after it.

The young geographical object, however, has already managed to acquire a rich one. There is some evidence that rulers were also interested in these places, striving to protect their shores (although there was no spit then, we are talking about the area at its Crimean base). It is also assumed that there was a Genoese bastion, then conquered by the Turks.

Here is evidence of the presence of the latter, and very weighty -. Mention of it dates back to the middle of the 17th century, it is assumed that its task was to prevent the penetration of the Russians into the Black Sea region, as well as the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, who willingly used the spit as a “transshipment base” during raids on the shores of the Crimean Khanate and Turkey itself. The last task was solved poorly: in the documents there are multiple references to the presence here of these dangerous warriors and robbers, with whom Tatar mothers frightened disobedient children. It is assumed that it was built on the site of the Genoese fortification, captured during the Turkish conquest of the Crimea.

However, during the period the fortress showed its best side - its garrison prevented the landing of the Anglo-French troops and counteracted the efforts of the allied fleet. All this is made possible by the presence of a good battery. The legendary passage of the Red Army soldiers through the Sivash in November 1920 also began from the Arabat arrow. This operation also led to the complete cessation of the white movement in the European part of the former Russian Empire.

Rest on the Arabat Spit

For those who love Crimea, the Arabat Spit is an almost obligatory place to visit. Its width ranges from 300 m to almost 8 km, and all Azov coast is a continuous beach of coarse sand and. The landscape is steppe, you should not count on natural shelters from the sun. It is also advisable to take firewood with you - only a large tamarisk grows around.

When traveling by car, it is better to choose an undemanding brand - the road here leaves much to be desired (for its ribbed surface it was nicknamed "comb"). She has excuses - sandy soil is not very suitable for capital construction. Do not expect rich living conditions. Most tourists settle on their own in tents,
can count on camping or private sector but on modest terms.

People come here for a pleasant swim in clear water, as well as fishing - goby is well caught, there are also mullet, pelengas and some other species. Some travelers have adapted well to catching shrimp. Another "bait" is the mud of salt lakes and Sivash. Usually they are recommended for diseases of the musculoskeletal system and as a cosmetic product.

Many connoisseurs are also attracted by biological diversity. Although the soil of the arrow is poor, there are many interesting plants. A reserve has been operating in its southern part since 1974. Reviews from regulars claim that best time there - May, found in whole fields. But keep in mind that there are a lot of angry mosquitoes here and stock up on a good repellent just in case.

It is not possible to see the inside of the fortress now. She recalls her youth - she was again occupied by the military. But looking from the side and taking pictures is not prohibited. In recent years, in the Arabatka area, as the spit is also called, construction has begun more actively. tourism infrastructure. But still, its guests need to be prepared for the fact that they will have to overcome several kilometers to visit the store.

Sea coast lovers often deprive themselves of the opportunity to appreciate how beautiful the Crimean steppe is. The Arabat arrow allows them to do this without giving up their main business - sea bathing. Here the steppe and the sea go hand in hand. In conclusion, we offer a brief video review of this natural attraction, enjoy your viewing!
