Civil aviation makes arrivals and departures only during these hours. From 09:00 to 12:00, flights are carried out by military aircraft. This happens due to the limited operating time of the airfield. Flights from Moscow arrive mostly at night or very early in the morning.

Goa airport located at a considerable distance from residential areas. It is for this reason that it is necessary to clarify in advance how to get from it to the desired destination. There are currently three options for resolving this issue:

Transfer. If through travel company accommodation is booked for more than a week, transfer is provided free of charge by the hotel. Otherwise, you can order the service yourself. Its cost will be made up of the model of the selected car, and the distance that needs to be driven.

In advance, even before arrival, it is necessary to contact the company providing this service and provide some details: the number of passengers, luggage, preferred level of comfort, the exact location of the hotel where the room is booked.

Depending on the needs of the customer, he can be provided with:

  • Car for 3-4 passengers;
  • Minivan for 5-6 passengers;
  • Bus for up to 20 people.

Outsiders are not allowed into the terminal building, so the driver will be waiting at the exit of the airport with a sign in his hands. Most often, the meeting takes place near the ATM, which almost all newly arrived passengers rush to use before going to the hotel. The traveler can order a transfer on line on the website www.intui.travel.

Government Taxi. The second way, which is popular among those wishing to leave or arrive at the airport, is a taxi. At the exit of the terminal building there is a large yellow poster with the names of the cities and the fare to them.

Two prices are indicated: the upper one is for an air-conditioned taxi, the lower one is just for the road to any resort by taxi without air conditioning.

Having chosen a suitable direction, the tourist pays for the service, receives a receipt and waits for his driver.

Taxi ordering. Dabolim Airport.

Route bus. This is an acceptable option for those who travel on a budget. The fare will be about one hundred rupees. The trip can take up to four hours and it is possible to make four transfers in different cities.

P Buses stop running after 7 pm.

In addition, those who travel with bulky luggage should not think about traveling by public transport. Because first you have to catch full buses that will fly by. It is simply impossible to get into such a crowded transport with large suitcases. If there is a need to get to North Goa, then you need to take a bus that goes to Vasco, and then transfer to the one that will take you to the capital. Buses run to all resorts from Mapusa, and it can be reached from Panaji. There are also buses from Vasco to South Goa via Margao.

Those who use their own car can use the services located near the terminal, parking and multi-level parking, capable of accommodating 570 cars. The cost of a parking space will be Rs 85, which is approximately 1.5 USD, for 2 hours rental.* The parking in front of the terminal building is used by taxis and tour buses.

Parking in front of the airport

Today, the terminal consists of two terminals: the first accepts domestic flights, and the second serves international. The communication between the terminals takes place with the help of special buses or taxis. It takes about 25 minutes to cover the distance between them. Get lost there, most likely it will not work, but the scheme can still come in handy:

Services

The airport building is equipped with several points for providing services to passengers:

  • There are baggage wrapping counters in the international terminal. It is better to wrap it with a film to protect it from dirt, damage and loss of things. The cost of the service is approximately 300 Indian rupees, which is approximately 5 US dollars.*

Lighters are not allowed in checked baggage. During the inspection, they will be required to get and leave.

  • Dabolim Airport offers mother and child rooms for travelers with children. They are located in the new international terminal, they have all the conditions to take care of the needs of a small child.
  • In the area of departure and arrival of aircraft there are currency exchange offices where passengers can change money.
  • Near the currency exchange office is located the office of the local operator mobile communications Airtel. To purchase a SIM card, you must provide: a copy of the visa, a photocopy of the passport, 2 passport photos.

  • The building is equipped with a medical aid station.

Unfortunately, the airport cannot boast of having luggage storage facilities. It is worth remembering that all the things taken with you will have to be carried with you while the issues of transportation and finding housing are being resolved.

The VIP lounge is another thing that Dabolim Airport will not show off due to its absence.

But there is Wi-Fi at the airport. True, it is paid. To use it, you need to connect to the Tata Indicom network.

Hotels and hotels

Unfortunately, there are no hotels on the territory of the Goa air port, but within a radius of several kilometers you can find a great place to stay overnight:

  • Village Club Goa. The hotel is located just 9 km from the airport. It offers cozy rooms, a spa center and a Turkish hammam. Each room is equipped with TV, mini-bar, wi-fi. The hotel staff can offer you an exciting excursion program. The hotel has many cozy restaurants and bars.

Perhaps all travelers who are hungry for adventure sooner or later find themselves in the most colorful state of India - Goa. To help tourists, I collected the most useful information about how to get to Goa from Russia and other Indian cities, as well as from Goa Dabolim Airport to the coolest beaches and resort towns of North and South Goa.

How to get to Goa from Russia?

  • During the season (November to May), direct charter flights fly to Goa Nordwind airlines Airlines, Transaero, UTair and others from Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk. The cost of an air ticket for a direct flight Moscow - Goa is from $ 290 in two directions.
  • There are no direct flights to Goa from Russia during the off-season. You can fly from Moscow to Delhi on a regular Aeroflot or Transaero flight, and then transfer to a train or plane to Goa. Airfare for a direct flight Moscow – Delhi – from $146. In addition, there is an option to buy a flight Moscow - Mumbai at a price of $ 212 in two directions, from where it is already much closer to get to Goa than from Delhi.

How to get to Goa from other cities in India?

If you flew to Delhi or Mumbai, then Goa can be reached in the following ways. The distance from Delhi to Goa is 1880 km, from Mumbai to Goa is 604 km.

Train to Goa from Mumbai and Delhi

  • From Delhi, trains to Goa depart from New Delhi and H.Nizamuddin railway stations. Travel time - 27.5 hours. Ticket price is $28.
  • From Mumbai, trains to Goa depart from the railway station Mumbai Cst. Travel time - 8 hours. Ticket price is $10.

Trains to Goa from the railway stations of Mumbai and Delhi arrive at the railway station Vasco da Gama, Thivim in North Goa and Margaon in South Goa. From these stations, you can take a bus to your desired city or drive to the state capital of Panjim and change to another bus.

A train ticket can be bought for different classes of carriages. Most sold - sleeping car sleepper, where there are a lot of Indians, and where I would not advise tourists to climb. If you decide to travel by train, tickets can be booked at Cleartrip.com. The names of train passengers must be checked on a special notice board before boarding the train, and then at the door of the car. I would not recommend girls to travel alone in India by train, since in India there are frequent cases of rape of tourists, and train cars are shared here, and you never know with whom you will sit not only on the next one - on a common shelf (due to lack of seats people are often sold the same sleeping place on trains).

Important! When moving long distances in India, make sure that at the box office you do not sell a ticket marked WL (Waiting list). This means that tickets for this train are sold out and you are put on a waiting list in case someone refuses their ticket. With such a ticket, there is a chance to leave, but you can also be left with nothing.

Bus to Goa from Mumbai and Delhi

  • Buses from Mumbai to Goa depart very often. Travel time to Goa is 15-16 hours. Ticket price - $ 4.5 - 23. There are many places for passengers in Mumbai to board a bus to Goa (about 222 points of departure), all of them are listed on the website.
  • There is no direct bus to Goa from Delhi. You will need to first fly to the city of Pune, and then take a direct bus to Goa. The cost of an air ticket from Delhi to Pune is $137 round-trip. The bus from Pune to Goa leaves from the railway station (Pune Railway station) or from the Swargate stop. Travel time to Goa is 10-15 hours. Ticket price - $ 5.3 - 18.

Buses in Goa come to the city of Mapsa (Mapusa) - the largest bus hub of the resort. Bus schedules and prices can be viewed on the Makemytrip website and book a bus ticket there. On the same site, it is very convenient to lay out travel routes around India by bus, train, plane in the Route Planner tab. If you do not buy a ticket online, you can buy it at ticket agencies (Travel agency) near the bus stations.

Plane to Goa from Mumbai and Delhi

It's best if you're flying into Big City India, get to Goa by plane. Air ticket Delhi - Goa will cost you from $ 148 in two directions; Mumbai - Goa - from $ 68 in two directions.

We figured out how to get to Goa, and now let's get acquainted with Goa airport and how to get from Goa airport to resort towns state.

Brief information about Goa Airport

There is only one airport in Goa, it is located in the city of Dabolim, thanks to which it got its name - Dabolim Airport. The nearest city to the airport is Vasco da Gama, located 5 km away. The capital of the state - Panaji - is located 30 km from the airport. The passenger turnover of the airport is more than 4.5 million passengers a year. The airport is actually located on the border of North and South Goa. For your convenience, I have attached a map below. Goa with the main attractions and hotels.

Previously, the Goa airport was a pitiful sight, and the reconstruction of its international terminal was constantly pushed back. However, since March 2014, a new modern terminal with three levels has been opened at the airport instead of the two old terminals. New terminal serves both domestic and international flights. Despite the fact that sometimes chaos reigns at the airport, it used to be even worse, so we are happy with what we have.

This is what the old Dabolim airport terminal looked like.

And this is what the new modern terminal looks like.

Bus + train from Dabolim airport to the railway station in North and South Goa

There are 3 railway stations in the airport area: Vasco da Gama, Sankval and Dabolim. To get to these train stations, you need to take the local bus from the airport. Buses do not have numbers, and their route is indicated on a sign on the windshield. The ticket is bought directly from the driver. The fare is $0.15-0.23.

The largest of these stations is railroad station Vasco da Gama, located 5 km from the airport. From the railway stations you can get to the railway station Thivim in North Goa and Margaon in South Goa. Already there you will need to transfer to the bus to your city / beach. This is an extremely uncomfortable way to travel, as you already understood.

The distance from Dabolim airport to Margao is 26 km, from Dabolim airport to Thivim is 46 km.

I want to warn you right away that trains and buses in India are almost always just packed. Surely you have seen pictures on the Internet where people literally sit on top of each other on the train. Well, that's how it is in India. You can get on the train only if you buy a ticket in advance. You are unlikely to be able to buy a train ticket at the box office before departure. Trains in India are almost always late and hardly a reliable mode of transport. Therefore, I would not advise using them if time is running out and you need to be in time for your destination by a certain time.

Shuttle bus from Goa airport to resorts

This option is available to you if you stay in Goa at one of the hotels that provide a free airport transfer. The following hotels provide this service: The Leela Goa (from $113 per night) in South Goa, Cidade de Goa (from $79 per night) in North Goa or Sandray Luxury Apartments and Villa (from $45 per night) in South Goa.

Taxi from Goa airport to resorts

I strongly recommend that you use a taxi service to quickly and comfortably get from Goa Airport to your destination in both North and South Goa: Karwar, Anjuna, Pondu, Mapusa, Betalbatim, Calangute, Candolim, Vagator, Panaji. A Russian taxi, which is available, will take you at a fixed price to almost anywhere in the state of Goa and to other cities in India if necessary.

Taxis are inexpensive and in my opinion a great alternative to the unstable Indian public transport. You don't have to tremble in the heat in a crowd of Indians in unsanitary conditions, or risk taking a bus in the evening or at night: the crime rate in India is very high. If you travel with a company, then a taxi ride will cost you even cheaper.

If you take a taxi to the locals, you will be ready to bargain, because. their first reaction to a foreigner is to overprice the trip by several times.

Plan your trip in advance and save up to 40%!

Dabolim International Airport - this is the answer to the question of tourists who are interested in which airport planes arrive in Goa. Today it is the only air harbor, a kind of tourist gate that lets tourists into this amazing place.

The airport was built in the 50s of the XX century by the Portuguese authorities. At that time, this region was not yet part of India, it was a colony of Portugal. Gradually, the struggle for independence reached these places. In 1962, the airport was taken over by the Indian Navy. To date, it is still the property of the military forces of the Republic, located on the territory of the military air unit "Khansa".

In recent years, local authorities have chosen the tourism industry as the basis for the development of the region. Naturally, tourists must somehow get to the beaches of the Arabian Sea, on the shores of which the state is located. The only airport in Goa belongs to the military, but the authorities have found a way to cooperate with them. The military now uses the air harbor along with civil aviation.

Unique collaboration

Any movement on the territory of the airport is controlled by the military. They are at the entrance, checking documents and tickets. It is impossible for those seeing off and meeting people to enter the premises. Passengers are admitted to the terminals according to the lists, which include all passengers of departing civil flights on the current date.

All civil and charter flights cannot use the airport on weekdays from eight to thirteen hours. This time is reserved for military exercises. Due to such restrictions, passengers often experience inconvenience in the form of huge queues and large crowds. The airport management cannot avoid this in any way, because due to temporary restrictions, it is necessary to simultaneously serve passengers of several flights, the departure and arrival of which are carried out with minimal intervals.

This situation does not suit both tourists and local authorities. In order to slightly improve the service, in 2014 a new international terminal, and by 2017 it is planned to complete the construction of a civil air hub in Mope.

Airport code

Goa's Dabolim Airport is the state's only air transport hub, so it's not surprising that its encoding is in international aviation looks like IATA: GOI - ICAO: VOGO.

The full (official) name is Dabolim Airport. One runway numbered 08/26 has an asphalt surface with a length of 3458 meters. It is located above the Arabian Sea, which makes the arrival of tourists to Goa especially impressive.

Online scoreboard

You can find out the schedule of all flights that will be served simultaneously with yours through the scoreboard available on our website. This information will help you determine how long it will take to check in, and you can also mentally prepare yourself for long lines in advance.

Luggage packing

Baggage at Goa airport goes through the following procedure:

  • at the entrance there is a scanner through which all luggage is passed;
  • scanned things are pulled with a plastic security tape, after which it can no longer be opened;
  • if you have an overweight, then there is a self-service scale next to the scanner: you can pick up things from the scanner before pulling the security tape, adjust the weight and submit it for verification again;
  • before scanning, make sure that you do not have lighters and liquids among your things;
  • It is forbidden to carry lighters on the plane both in luggage and in hand luggage; liquids in acceptable volumes are packed in a transparent plastic bag;
  • hand luggage is almost never weighed, overweight baggage up to two kilograms does not cause any particular difficulties;
  • film rewinding is desirable to reduce the likelihood of opening and theft of things;
  • rewinding services available - 200 rupees;
  • if you wish, you can buy a film in advance and wrap your luggage yourself;
  • after check-in for the flight, you are given tickets, and your suitcases are taken away;
  • then there is a personal inspection and check of hand luggage through the scanner;
  • after passing through the metal detector, special tags for hand luggage are issued, which must be pasted on all packages taken into the cabin, and then stamped on them;
  • when boarding, things without tags with seals cannot be carried on the plane, so be sure to stick them on.

Luggage storage

Many passengers flying to Goa in winter face the difficulty of where to put their warm clothes. Some hope to leave them for the holidays at the airport in Goa. To avoid disappointment, know in advance that there are no left-luggage offices here. The military even let people into the terminal premises according to the lists, and even more so, no one will allow people to leave things here. Such features of military cooperation.

If your vacation involves stationary accommodation, then you can purchase vacuum bags in advance, take them with you as hand luggage, put warm clothes in them after boarding the plane, and then, most importantly, do not forget to pick them up from the hotel when you leave, when you completely forget that it might be winter somewhere now.

If you plan to travel around Goa, it is better to leave warm clothes at home. You can do this in two ways:

Give things to those who see you off, provided that they bring them to you when you return from vacation.

Check in luggage storage at the airport of departure or use a wardrobe specially designed for winter clothes of those passengers traveling to warm countries.

Whichever option you choose, keep in mind that a bus will take you from the airport to the plane. If there is a big minus on the street, then in flip flops and shorts you will be completely uncomfortable. You will still need to take something warm with you on the plane.

Ways to get to the hotel

The airport is located away from residential areas. Therefore, you need to know in advance how to get from it to the city you need. There are three options for resolving this issue.

Transfer

If you book a hotel or other accommodation in advance for a period of more than a week through travel intermediaries, then most likely you will be offered a transfer to the hotel for free. In any case, you can order this service separately. It will cost, depending on the distance and the chosen car, from 40 to 150 dollars.

When ordering a transfer from the airport, you will need to contact your chosen intermediary before departure, tell him how many passengers and things will be, what level of comfort you prefer, the city where your hotel is located and its exact address.

If you are traveling on a budget, then you will like the third option. The whole trip will cost a maximum of one hundred rupees, but be prepared to spend almost four hours on it and make four transfers in different cities. And after seven o'clock in the evening the buses do not run.

If you have a lot of things, do not even consider this option, as the journey begins with catching a full bus passing by the airport, which you will not sit on with large luggage. On such a bus, you need to get to Vasco, here change to the one that goes to the capital, if you need to go to northern Goa. From Panaji you get to Mapusa, and buses to all resorts already run from it. AT south goa can be reached via Margao, which is served by buses from Vasco.

Dabolim is a small airport of a large resort. It is located four kilometers from the town of Vasco da Gama near the village of Dabolim. To the administrative center of the state of Goa - city of Panaji- from here 29 km.

Story

The construction of the airport began thanks to the decision of the Portuguese colonial authorities in the 1950s. For this, 101 hectares of land were allocated from Dabolim villages, whose name the airport still bears. TAIP (Transportes Aéreos da Índia Portuguesa) planes were supposed to fly from here, serving directions to Karachi, Daman, Mozambique, Timor, Diu. Regular flights were also made here by TAP Portugal from the metropolis.

When India, having gained independence from Great Britain, began to annex by force the territories that were part of the colonial possessions of other states. Portugal did not escape this either. As a result of the fighting in 1961, Dabolim Airport was bombed by the Indian Air Force. Part of the buildings on its territory was destroyed, and the civilian planes that were at the airport at that moment managed to fly away only under cover of night. Dabolim finally passed into the hands of the Indian authorities in the spring of 1962, when an Indian Air Force unit settled here.

How much to fly to Goa from different cities of Russia?

Incremental flight time:

  • from Ufa 6 hours 10 minutes - 6 hours 30 minutes
  • from Yekaterinburg 6 hours 30 minutes
  • from Krasnodar 6 hours 45 minutes
  • from Samara 6 hours 45 minutes
  • from Perm 6 hours 50 minutes
  • from Moscow 7 hours - 7 hours 20 minutes

The flight time depends on the direction of the air currents, so it can change in both directions. In any case, before takeoff, the captain of the aircraft announces the estimated time of arrival at the final destination.

Regular direct flights to Goa operate three Russian airlines: Aeroflot- Russian airlines, VIM-Avia (VIM Airlines) and Transaero(Transaero Airlines). On their own, they almost completely fill the weekly calendar. Increasing traffic needs are complemented by a number of smaller air carriers operating charter flights to Goa. Among them is the company "Ruslines". Of the foreign companies flying to Goa through Russia, it can be noted Air flights Arabia and Qatar Airways.

Many people think that . But we both know that this is not so.

Do you know what it is? This is the 24-spoke wheel of the law, which is painted in the very center of the Indian flag.

February is the coldest month in Russia. What is the weather this month in Goa.

Dabolim belongs to the category of airports with weakly developed infrastructure , and although the government of India has taken a number of measures to expand its capabilities, it is still far from the modern level. Obsolete equipment and local laws prevent this from being achieved.

Video review of Dabolim Airport

The only airport in the state of Goa is located near the village of Dabolim, after which the airport got its name. Dabolim Airport is mainly engaged in servicing international flights, including charter ones.

The airport complex was built in the 1950s. to provide domestic air traffic and belonged to the Portuguese government of India. In the early 1960s after the occupation of the airport by the aviation unit of the Indian Navy, the territory came under the control of India. In subsequent years, the authorities actively developed international communication, attracting tourists to Goa. Today, the Dabolim airport receives over 700 flights a year, and the passenger flow exceeds 3.5 million people.

The peculiarity of the airport "Dabolim" is that it is intended for joint use with the Indian Navy. In this regard, a number of inconveniences arise for passengers - during the hours of military exercises, the harbor is closed for receiving and departing civilian flights. The territory of the air hub is controlled by the military, therefore, for those who meet and escort, the entrance to the terminal is limited, only passengers are allowed through. Due to such difficulties, the government of India decided to build a new airport in Mopa ( north goa), which will specialize exclusively in civil transportation. The opening of the new air harbor is expected in 2020. It is slated to be the third largest in terms of traffic, after Delhi and Hyderabad airports.

Most convenient way to get from the Goa air port to the city is a taxi. A paid taxi rank is located next to the terminal. It is recommended to pay for the trip in advance at special points, this will protect you from fraud. When paying, customers receive a receipt, which must be given to the driver at the end of the trip.

A trip to the center of Panaji costs about 900 rupees, and takes about 40 minutes in time, to Calangute - 1100 rupees (1.2 hours), to Kandalim - 1200 rupees (1 hour).

Unfortunately, Indian taxi services are very corrupt, and cases of fraud against tourists happen very often (disabled meter, overpricing, etc.) For the same reason, Uber and Ola services do not work at the airport, which you can freely use in city.

In order not to become a victim of scammers, you can take care of the trip in advance by ordering a transfer from KiwiTaxi. You can immediately pay for the service on the site and not worry about currency exchange at the airport.

Car rental at Goa airport

If you have a driver's license and plan to visit the sights of the state on your own, then renting a car will be the best option.
