Often the owners of summer camps provide canteens, showers, boat rentals and wooden houses for living. Here guests will fully enjoy the pristine beauty of the plant park, find like-minded people and spend time with health benefits.

Camping in the suburbs is becoming more and more popular, which means that you can get a portion of energy and health even for the weekend.

One fine day this summer, my wife said the phrase: "Let's go to Karelia tomorrow!"

Well, we went! :) But tomorrow we didn’t manage to go, and we left in a couple of days.

(from left to right: a package with life jackets; a package with a fishing rod and various light junk, my wife's backpack "Sail-60" from PIK-99; my hunting Defkon 5 with a weapon carrying system and a tent is tied to it from above).

Of course, we plan to get rid of the packages in our future trips. We will buy inflatable compact life jackets and take other measures to reduce the amount of equipment carried.

We boarded an electric train at the Finlyandsky railway station early in the morning, but we never reached Karelia, only three kilometers. Let's go camping "Park Ladoga", located in the "Bay of tourists" in the very north of the Leningrad region, a little north of the city Priozersk From Priozersk we took a taxi to the Quiet pier at the mouth of the river of the same name. Of course, it was possible to swim from the pier to the Bay of tourists on ours (2 kilometers, along the coast along Ladoga), but since we went there for the first time, a noticeable North wind, decided not to "butt with the elements", and we used the service of dropping into the bay on motorboat provided by the camping staff "Park Ladoga".

Having reached the bay, we chose a place for parking, and while we set up our small camp, built dinner - twilight descended, and on this day we did not take any other actions. We decided to postpone the walk for the next day. They tinkered a little with their life and went to bed.

The next morning was clear, with occasional clouds. Since we set up camp on a rock overgrown with pines, the view of Ladoga from there opened up very pleasant for contemplation.

The tent, which I have already made, stands on rocks sprinkled with a thin layer of humus and moss, as if it had grown here :)

Climb even higher on the rocks.

Moss is everywhere, more like snow and all kinds of edible berries.

Well, again, rocks, pines and a wife :)

(Our tent is visible in the distance).

After some time, the camping employee, who took us to the bay on the eve on a motor boat, suggested that we arrange an excursion on the same boat, along Lake Ladoga and nearby islands and attractions. Well, why not?!)

(Go!)

First we got to largest island Ladogi - Kilpola Islands. We have been on it before, but in its northern part. And this time we were waiting for the "Komarina" bay above which rises a completely sheer cliff - Mount Rullalakhdenvuori. Height - 52 meters, and for this region, this is a very high point. Despite the ominous :) name, the bay met us quite hospitably.

Having unloaded from the boat, we went around the steep part of the mountain in order to climb it along a more gentle slope. The excursion was also joined by a young couple with children, who were camping about thirty meters from our tent.

The ascent was not difficult, since everything in this event was wonderful - the weather, the mood and the landscapes.

(Well, how can it be today without a selfie? :) If even on the ISS ... :)

("If you want to live, you won't grow up like that." (c) From the film "Peculiarities of the National Hunt." I'm talking about pine :)

Still, I decided to stand on the most high point rocks.

("Mosquito" bay, in which, thank God, there were no mosquitoes that day)

Having admired the views, we went down, loaded into the boat and headed to the coast. The next attraction we were heading to was the 18th century quarries, where granite was mined under Catherine II for the construction of the Neva river embankments. Then it was closed, apparently due to low profitability.

I would like to note that the northwestern part of Ladoga is strewn with archipelagos of small islands. There is even an island with a romantically unearthly name "Cucumber" :) An elongated structure one hundred meters long and ten meters in diameter, built of boulders and overgrown with pine trees.

Upon arrival at the old quarry, we observed the following pictures:

(Unfinished, abandoned boulder - apparently cracked in an unplanned place during mining)

(And here are the wooden "chocks", which are 200 years old, or even more)

(There are traces of "cuts" on the rock. You can also sit).

("Boulders and bumpkins" :))

(Since it's a quarry, why not dig something out?)

And so, the boulder was dug out - you can put on a life jacket and swim home. The boulder was put away in a pocket and safely thrown out in the camp.

(The life jacket is not mine, but the boatman's.)

Having reached the camp, it's time to relax after a busy walk.

You can, in principle, change into walking-semi-beach clothes :)

(Rocks on the beach).

And then they showed us the following ... A ten-centimeter wide pink border along coastline... They say that amethyst sand. It is necessary to consult with fellow geologists and clarify - can this be in that area?)

Well, at the end of the first chapter, we can say that the day was very successful, and the sunset with clouds complemented it.

To be continued...

Four years ago, on the shores of Lake Ladoga near Priozersk in the Leningrad Region, an ecological campsite appeared - Ladoga.land - with a large geodome, carefully landscaped territory, its own "fleet" and rich, almost year-round life (which is very rare for these northern places with capricious nature and unpredictable weather).

The founders of Ladoga.land, the spouses Sasha and Zhenya, are engaged in their own micro-business - industrial mountaineering - and live in the city on a boat together with the pet crow Kara, which sometimes flies away, and then the whole of St. Petersburg goes in search of her.

It all started with a proposal to ennoble a piece of the beach in the Bay of tourists. Sasha already had a large-scale experience of traveling and organizing camps, so the task looked captivating and feasible. First, the territory was cleaned, and in the process, a full-fledged campsite began to crystallize, ready to receive about 70 guests at a time at any time of the year. The festival of contact improvisation and the charity trip of the students of the "Anton is right here" center moved here, and on weekends friends and guests regularly come.

Anna Schiller went to Ladoga.land and talked to its founders about how they managed to build Small town in the forest - on the shores of the harsh Lake Ladoga.

How camping works

To get to the place of deployment of our heroes, you first have to spend several days settling logistics issues, provisions, the availability of bath caps and washing sleeping bags, then a couple of hours by car to the Ladoga Lake Priozersk recreation center, consisting of gray, neat houses with an obligatory addition in the form of a barbecue, and from there - forty minutes on foot along a forest path that runs along the shore of Ladoga, over stones and bumps, through a tiny bridge over a backwater of black water, through a clearing of lilies of the valley and a mosquito swarm. And now, finally, on the rock one can see a transparent geo-dome with a pipe of a potbelly stove sticking out of the roof - business card campsite Ladoga.land.

Having rounded a stone cliff, we come to a spacious pine meadow, covered on one side by a dense forest, and on the other - by a rock. This is where most of the buildings are located. There are not so many of them - they are all located at an air distance from each other, and between them, as if in weightlessness, a huge net stretched along with many sweeping swings - a favorite attraction for children. In an ordinary garden greenhouse - a kitchen with a full-length worktop, which has sinks with washbasins, and gas stoves, and all the necessary utensils.

If you go a little deeper, the semicircular sandy shore of Ladoga opens up. There, in the bushes near the water, a bathhouse hid, resembling in shape either a spaceship, or the back of a Colorado potato beetle. Next to it is a shower with a water heater, disguised as a garden greenhouse, the same as the kitchen, only half the size.

"The main principle is not to leave traces"

Sasha:

I have been going to Ladoga for a long time, since I was 20 years old. Many groups were held here, we even tried to rent the land in 1985 in order to build a whole rural settlement with its own school and infrastructure, but in Soviet times we were not allowed to do this, they said: “You city dwellers cannot grow 100 kilograms of potatoes so we don't need you."

When we arrived here, we did not have conditions, but rather a request from the Drive Park Ladoga hotel: “Guys, start doing something adequately beautiful here.” Those who lived here before left behind about thirty bonfires on the rocks, in the roots of trees - wherever beautiful view. Their whole life was attached to the trees. Washbasins, hammocks and streamers left nail marks on the trees. In addition, while renting tents, they also sold alcohol to tourists.

Our main principle is to leave no traces. All tents stand on specially designed wooden podiums with legs. We didn't trample or dig anything, except for a compost pit for a toilet, but this is ultimately a consumable item - for growing oak. You dig in a hole - you plant a sapling.

All facilities are designed and built by us from environmentally friendly materials that do not emit any harmful substances and are recyclable.

Zhenya:

Geodome construction is a well-covered topic on the Internet. Then you understand it, you understand how you will do it, how cheaper it is in terms of materials. Choose a fastening scheme. Many come to peep, then to do the same at home.

Zhenya:

Our separate waste collection is arranged as follows: organic matter - compost; we are taking plastic to the trash for now, but we are gradually moving towards compressing it and handing it over for recycling; iron cans are fired, flattened and buried under the roots of trees - this is a good top dressing, in just a couple of years the cans turn into dust.

We are in the process of learning ecoscience, but you can’t grasp it so quickly. Often our guests boycott separate waste collection, leaving behind unpleasant packages, which we then sort and sort. Somehow, friends from the “dance village on Ladoga” pulled out all the shampoos from the shower, despite the fact that “eco” is beautifully written on them, and with the words “Zhenya, stop being hypocritical, you can’t pour this rubbish into the ground” taught me to wash my hair with rye flour, and the body is soda. And it's cool.

“Here, it happens, it boils well”

Zhenya:

Geographically, we are located at the exit from the skerries in open Ladoga. If there is a storm, then we are at the gate - as on duty. Here, sometimes, it boils well. Everyone around knows that you can fly into this bay and get any help: get warm, get dressed, get through.

We are the only ones in the area packed with an all-weather fleet: a trimaran can approach rocks and carry a ton of cargo in any wave; a high-speed reef on smooth water and with a small wave can help out a lot; a two-pair English rowing boat with an engine in general, any wave on the drum.

Sasha:

My relationship with Ladoga is complex and simple at the same time. The main thing is not to do stupid things out of stupidity. Quite recently, we were returning from here to Berezovo on a boat and one SUP girl was carried away to the open Ladoga: a strong wind was blowing, she was exhausted and was already in despair. The group could not help her in any way - they themselves would have rowed. We picked it up along with the board and returned it to the shore.

In good weather, we like to go to the islands of the Ladoga Skerries and pick berries there. Usually we just soak lingonberries in Ladoga water - nothing else needs to be done with it. This summer, we even want to come up with such a berry quest for mercantile reasons: we need to stock up on berries for the winter so that everyone can eat them when they come here. So we will drop you off on the island and pick you up after each one has collected three liters of berries. This is a return ticket home.

“In the cold we live in a bathhouse, this is our favorite place”

Zhenya:

Winter life is being finalized every year. Now we are thinking about how to put a small dome with double-glazed windows for the team so that the firewood does not go away - in severe frost they fly into the chimney. We are also going to insulate three domes on the rocks and make a path to them with harnesses and crampons, without them it is impossible - slippery. The gas kitchen and bathhouse work, only the shower has to be turned off. In the cold, Sasha and I live in a bathhouse, this is ours. favorite place. The stones give off heat for a long time, they last almost until the morning.

The sauna stove was a gift to ourselves on New Year. We bought it on the 31st. The New Year was celebrated at a gas station in Priozersk: at night we walked here, the northern lights winked at us, and on the morning of January 1 they brought this stove on a trimaran. Ladoga was still open, but two hours later the frost hit minus 27 - and everything froze. We somehow managed to drag and install the stove.

When it is already minus outside, and there is a storm on Ladoga, all these sprays that hit the rocks freeze in the air, and horizontal combs are obtained on the trees, like combs from icicles. And this winter, people even drove around Ladoga in cars - there was such thick ice - but I didn’t risk it on our minibus.

Sasha:

But we walked on the ice and rode motorized dogs. The “caterpillar” has a motor spinning, and it runs forward, you hitch a sled to it and go. The first version was a chainsaw motor. A motorcycle dog is convenient: it fits in the trunk of a car. Winteret.

Zhenya:

As it gets colder, all the mice are breaking for food. Last year, we managed to take them away from the stocks and the dome, making them a nest from felt boots and putting food there all the time. This winter was very cold, and our administrator once said: "Don't come without a mousetrap." We decided to take a simple path: we came to the Priozersky shelter and asked for a cat that could survive in the forest (because we were all dumb that foxes could eat her) and who was least likely to be at home. They gave us Penelope - Penny - a cat of the color of Ladoga fogs. She has taken root well: she has a huge territory, her own house in which she sleeps. Several times Penny brought prey to her bowl - she worked off the bread. She is very gentle, but according to the concepts, she spent many years in the same space with twelve cats. When she had her own bowl, she ate like crazy. We cut her rations, and now she walks half-starved, but she has become affectionate, contact.

“Not even for the sake of the children, but for the sake of the parents”

Sasha:

Working with children with autism for many years - in the Hippocrates cooperative, in the Fathers and Sons Foundation, I helped take the first step towards integrating children with special needs into our society. At first we took them to the cinema, museums, then we began to leave the city for the weekend, for a month or two. It became obvious that taking children to nature is a good mechanism for solving their simple human tasks: learning to tie shoelaces or eating something other than white.

When the organization “Anton is nearby” appeared in the city, which successfully works with adults with autism, all those with whom we once started to go hiking turned out to be in it. I suggested making a self-sustaining camp.

Those who have extremely difficult children come here. And this is not even for the sake of the children, but for the sake of the parents - just give them the opportunity to rest for 10–20 days, to be in beautiful place in nature and to be helped in doing so. A volunteer is assigned to almost every family in the camp - this allows parents not to watch the child every second. "Anton is right here" has a big program during the camp. The guys do yoga, psychosomatics, music. Last year, on the theater shift, they were preparing for a performance at the Bolshoi Theater.

The rest of the time, guests come to us, rent equipment and tents. The task is to make a commercial holiday, so that this money goes to a non-profit charitable history of the development of this money, so that it is a self-sustaining program. To this day, Evgenia and I are still investing in camping money earned from our main job - at a high-rise construction site. "Anton is right here" is also investing, buying equipment, looking for sponsors.

Zhenya:

Our next plan is Napoleonic. We are starting small, working out this whole scheme, and then, when we have the opportunity, we will buy together a fairly large piece of land for agricultural purposes, we will make an ecovillage and we will be able to employ children with autism. They will be able to perform their simple everyday tasks every day and be needed by society. Sasha knows perfectly well which of the guys can carry water and be happy, who can carry firewood, who can take care of chickens, who can take care of lambs. Some such simple things so that you can make a closed loop.

Sasha:

A simple example: I have a mother, she is cheerful, she is 80 years old, she rushes like crazy. There would be a great model: to put my mother in a small house on the land that we will buy, to put a person with autism in another small house with a volunteer. That's it - the model starts to work: the autist carries firewood, the stove is heated in the house; a volunteer (often these are students of correctional universities or just people who need it, since there are more and more of them in the world) performs their practice together with an autistic person; an elderly person has an au pair, and the parents of an autistic person have an understanding that the child will not end up in a boarding school.

Sasha:

Fifteen years ago, when I worked at the Emelya Rehabilitation Tourism Charitable Foundation, we decided to build a boat together with the Prince Gagarin Human Development Foundation. We didn’t have much money, so we couldn’t buy a new vessel for our tasks, but the tasks are still the same - for children with special needs: so that they can feel comfortable, not stumble, sleep, eat and go on it to the city not on an excursion, but on a hike.

So we took an old boat - without a bottom, without everything - bought all the necessary materials and tools and rebuilt it for four years. When they finished work, they began to roll the children and perform all sorts of programs. Even during the construction process, I knew that I would live on it. And so it happened. Then Evgenia appeared, we began to live together, then our tame crow Carissima appeared, and then the understanding came that with all the domestic inconveniences on the boat - in winter there is no toilet and shower - it became impossible to live either in the city center, or in a new apartment, or in house somewhere in the suburbs. Once having tasted freedom, it is difficult to return to cages, frames, concrete boxes.

Sasha:

Crow Kara is a by-product of high-rise work. The tenants called high-altitude workers at night to remove a crow from a tree - it got tangled with its foot in the rope from which the nest was twisted, and hung upside down for several hours. Both he and the crows were screaming, the grandmothers could not sleep. The next morning, the residents said: guys, take this crow, we have cats, dogs, in general, what should we do with it? Evgeniya took the little crow in, began to treat it, take care of it, feed it, in particular, take it here to put it on its wing and release it into the wild. While Kara was being treated with us, we, the people, became a community for her, an imprint turned out, so she wild nature does not live, but reaches out to society.

Once we went to the city, and she rushed after us. By that time, Kara was already flying freely around the camp and around. She stopped in Priozersk and trolled everyone there, taking away food at the market, socks from grandmothers, untying the ropes at the boat station. Everyone thought it was a circus crow. When we arrived at the camp and did not find Kara, Zhenya put up ads all over the track, and in less than a day the uncle returned her to us. She flew into his car in Priozersk at the call of "Carissima, Kara" and a piece of bread.

Zhenya:

Last fall, we broke the glass in the car - they tried to steal things, but did not have time, but the crow nevertheless flew out. For the next six days, from morning to evening, we were looking for her: posting ads, bombing social networks. Since a reward of 20 thousand was announced, students and pensioners went out in search of Kara every day, as if to work. I don't know how many thousands of calls there were. As a result, she was found by a designer of rastabikes and a part-time tractor janitor. He saw a crow, held it in his hands, released it, called his wife, and she told him: “Don’t come home without a crow, we have nothing to pay for an apartment, and here is just a reward - the cost of rent.”

Another time she got lost on Vasilyevsky Island and the fishermen found it. Kara knows that the men who sit in the Buddha posture have worms and fish, they have been feeding on them for several days. We gave 50 thousand to the fishermen.

Kara was recently recuperating on our boat after being injured in a fight with a wild crow. Since it was abnormally hot for May, and our boat had good insulation, it was cool there. I had to pay off with lamb bones.

Sasha:

And a well-groomed boat, and dry cleaning for covers, and washing the hold. When we were just starting to live with Kara, we were like: “Oh, I shit again, oh, I messed up here, oh, I shit!” And after some time: “Oh-oh-oh, well shat, a good litter means healthy. Oh, liquid - something is wrong! Who fed her honey?!” Now like this: not the smell, but the quality of shit pleases. And, in principle, it is the same with everyone - with people, too.
